How Much Will My Built Mj Weigh??
H3RESQ replied to johnny quest's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I can tell you this... My last wheeler was a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ. It had 4.7 v8, auto, Atlas 3.8, Ford 9 rear with 35spline shafts, front 960 35spline, full belly skid, solid link longarm (rockcrawler), custom gas tank skid, and belly skid, Arb front bumper, winch, custom rear bumper, kevins sliders, and 5 17inch beadlocks with 5 37 krawlers. I weighed it with 3 people and gear for 3 people for a 3 day Rubicon trip (camping gear, coolers, 5 gallon water, 5 gallon fuel, bbq, It was full in the back, and had stuff on the roof and one back seat was down with stuff in it. The rig weighed 6952lbs!!!!!! So 1 tons, bumpers, winch, sliders, armor, I doubt you will keep it under 5000lb, also the factory # is usually low.... -
I talked to the guy at no roads reuired. Seems like a great thing they have giong, so I want to support it. There is a small chance I will not have my Jeep on the road. I may be in middle of putting in limit straps and doing a big belly skid....we will see if I can wait till after next weekend. I am dying to run my MJ at speed! I have yet to tune for speed due to no limit straps and its killing me. Built to go fast too, yet I have not. Do not want to unload suspension till straps are in.

The back door kills me too, bt still WANT IT SOOOOO BAD!! My buddy (with the white lj in moab pics) actually toom the pics. I did not see it, he did. He sent me the pictures. I did not see the picture text till about hour after he sent them. Had I seen them sooner believe you me I would have been out driving in circles trying to spot it! It drove by his buisness, he knew enoug to take pics for me but not to chase it down...lol.

Ya....i feel they cut the mj just behind the doors and cut the xj just at back side windows and morphed them so the "frame" for bed area would be there. I really want to see the doors open in the back. I think inside will still have the wheelwell and narrow bench
-
Spotted on State st. Heading into downtown Olympia. Back doors still have cut shape for rear tires, so not sure how it was morphed together. Pics are vest i could get...

Looks like Kate, the kids and I will be there....oh and the MJ too.

Went to No Roads Requird (don't fear the jeeper). Name and location changed. Its now at Fast Specialties in Vancouver, Wa. I got to run my truck on there Mustang Dyno. 170 horsepower, 218 torque to the rear wheels. Figure a 25% drop from drivetrain, and a 10% due to it being a Mustang dyno and flywheel is around.. 230hp/295t. They had three classes. JK, cj/yj/tj/xj/mj, and other. I recieved Best of Show for the CJ/YJ/TJ/XJ/MJ class. The old MJ had a good day...and got a new sticker. -

No, but I have. I was third in our group and by the time we got Jamie and Luke through we wanted to move on since ther were about 8 rigs waiting behind us. No question I would have made it....just would have been slow and methodical and annoyeed the hell out ofto the beater exo'd rigs behind me. LOL. -

Yes, bendtech, j2squared set up air over hydraulic, and beadlocks are just do it yourselfs that I grabbed off craigslist when my Allied broke in half. They are temporary till I decide what wheels I want. To answer other question about trimming....the snips are broke so i just used air cut off and then smoothed with air and a grinding bit. Off course tapped it all first to avoid chipping paint. -

Willy, To be honest I think with Wes it would be drop it off and pay for it. I have known him and wheeled with him for years. I planned to be there everyday working with him. He has three kids and the reality was it just didnt work. I finally just let him have at it so he could work on it on his time. He didnt have the time to be slowed down by me or to work around my schedule. -

Hey guys. I want to say thanks for all the compliments and kind words. I have to give credit to Wes Hepp on this last set of upgrades. He did an amazing job on the suspension, cage, and front bumper. He also did an amazing job putting up with and working with my opinions, concerns, and odd ball wants for this portion of my build. So, thanks for the compliments and cheers to Wes for taking my MJ a step above what I wanted and expected it could be.
