Harley replied to a1awind's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs

Another option ya might want to look into is going to a truckstop or 2 if ya have any in your area or shop around online. Think outside the box, there is a lot of options when it comes to semi truck lighting. most of which are not badly priced. Your sure to find something in the size, shape, color and brightness that your looking for.

I've bought a couple of the small oval red LED lights and use them as alternative interior lights. I think they are about 3" or 4" long. Red is easier on your eyes at night. They are plenty bright and IMO I think they would be just fine for flashers. Maybe for exterior ya might wanna try the larger ovals.

Harley replied to Jeep Meister's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If ya don't have any luck finding one locally, let me know. I have a used aluminum 2.5 cover (you'll need bolts for it though) that i'm sure we can work a deal on. I'm selling the truck soon and won't have a use for it. I bought it and never got around to installing it. -
Dash Swap In An '86 Mj
Harley replied to onlyinajeep726's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No need to remove the dash to replace the heater core/AC. I've done it a couple times. Granted removing the dash can make life easier but its not required. Just loosen the passenger side of the dash so you have enough play in it to remove the heater box. -
Anyone Have A Banging Noise From Back Window Area?
Harley replied to Biotex's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Let your wife ride in the front seat. She'll probably complain less and the "banging behind your head" will more than likely go away. -
once again, your best bet would be craigslist. Around here prices for a good metal box seem to be around $100. I got lucky and found a Delta diamond plate for $20 so good deals are out there. Ya just gotta keep your eyes open and be ready to jump as soon as ya find one at a good price.

You can rent that tool for free at autozone. I'm sure others carry it too. Using the tool is the easiest as that lock plate is spring loaded. In a pinch i have done it without the tool though
-
you can either get a lock plate removal tool or in some cases you can get by without it. The idea is to compress the lock plate and remove the ring clip from the center. once you compress the plate you will be able to see the ring. remove that and 4 screws removes the turn signal assembly.

Ac And Heat Issue, Please Help.
Harley replied to jeepmarine312's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
another possibility is if somebody has ever removed the heater box for whatever reason and possibly broke it reinstalling it or it didn't seal properly behind the dash. The plastic heater boxes get brittle with age and can break if somebody isn't careful enough. Id feel under the dash around the box for any airflow, if ya don't feel any major leaks then go with the vacume lines as previously suggested. -
86 Ax5 Mc To Slave Hydraulic Clutch Line
Harley replied to GirsMJ86's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I can't remember which one I used offhand but look up that line for the same era XJ. I wanna say an 87?? is almost exactly the same line as the 86 MJ uses. I went through the same thing. I used an XJ line then got a 12" straight line and bent it to fit and make up for the bends on the slave side. -
Dealer Installed Mirrors?
Harley replied to Bornindesert's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Looks to me like somebody needed a mirror and picked up one from an old dodge or gm half ton. It doesn't follow the body lines. -
Oreilly auto sucks @$$ too. I had to replace my master and slave 4 times before I got a decent enough combo that would bleed and hold pressure. I will never buy from them again.

And yet your STILL not specific with what exactly your looking for. :rotf: Are you wanting just the box, a whole lwb truck.....???
