  1. Those ARE super nice!
  2. Can't say I blame the guy for wanting to keep it , it's a nice looking truck. The red looks fine!
  3. I believe the auto in your truck with a 2.5 is the chrysler 3 speed. The trans behind a 4.0 is an AW4. I don't think they ever made a AW4 with the 2.5 bellhousing pattern. They put chrysler trannies in TJs, with the 2.5 L. I have a 91 YJ with a 2.5 and 5 speed, and 4.10 gears, 31" tires. I never use 5th gear, it's a dog. If I was doing your swap, I would get a 4.0 XJ donor, and put it all in at once.
  4. I bought my 89 long bed sight unseen as a flood victim, Then spent 2 years turning it into trail trash. It makes a great trail rig, but many times when I'm driving it to work, I wish it was just a nice clean, almost stock truck.
  5. My housing wasn't machined for the seal, I had the axle out on stands to do it . I stuck an air hose in from the left side and used a flat ended burr on a die grinder to hog it out to fit. I think I only had to take out about an 1/8" all the way around, put a little silicone sealer around the seal, and drive it in. You need to drive the old seal out thats right by the old CAD flange also.
  6. I've junked out a couple of Dakotas, and I think those lights are pretty closebut maybe just a little wider looking from the rear. They even look right at first glance, hardly anyone would know the difference. They even sell them at the parts store!
  7. I built a new garage -shop in 05. Its 30x40. Its nice to have that extra 6 ft. in front of your truck, gives you room to roll a cherry picker around, especially a full size truck , or if you have a snow plow on. I did the floor heat, and really like it. I had to get a variance from the city, and my neighbors had to ok it, for a 2 ft setback from the property line. I have a 10.5 ft. ceiling height, so I can't easily put a lift in, I miss that.
  8. It hurts just watching that
  9. Good to hear the steering is working, Now if you can figure the vibration problem out. Does it do it with the front hubs unlocked? How about the rear driveshaft u-joint angles?
  10. I think she's going to put it for sale on craigs list
  11. pull the vacuum hose off the fuel pressure regulator. If it has gas in the vacuum hose, your regulator is leaking.
  12. I run 31-10.50 tires on stock 7 inch rims on my yj. They look fine on there, but with the large backspace, the tires rub the springs on full lock. I think 11.5 is just too big for a 7 inch wheel.
  13. @ years ago I put a "cheap" track bar on my son's 89 xj, thinking the jeep wasn't worth a good one. He put about 15,000 miles on that thing and it was worn out. He changed the oil himself, but never greased anything. It did the the same wobble thing as you described. So, I got another cheap one for it, I'm gonna grease the thing a little more often and see how this one does. The old one also came a little loose on the bolt end and wore the hole oblong, so I drilled the bushing and hole out to 7/16"and put in a grade 8 bolt.
  14. Maybe you like the wide look, but those full size axles are awful wide for a manche.
  15. It looks like you have a setup similar to JCR offroad one ton steering. They use late 70s to early 80s chevy tie rods. Your drag link goes to the right side and attaches to the hole that had a steering stabilizer attached to it in the original configuration.Make sure you have a poly spacer washer in place at that place where the drag link goes into the right tie rod end. If it has a rubber boot there , it will wobble.Jcr Offroad 269-353-1184 PN#1tnstbsh cost $6.50
  16. One problem with a cam thats too radical, is that the engine doesn't have much vacuum at idle, so the map sensor reads this as the throttle being open, and gives the engine too much fuel and will run real poor at low speeds.
  17. Hey a guy can't be a grown up all the time. I would never go in water that deep, but I have been there by accident. The worst thing to get water into is an auto trans, flush it the best you can, and start looking for a replacement for it when it konks out.
  18. Yes the pump could well have seized from running out of fuel.
  19. Well, I think its fixxed. I had an extra throttle body in my collection, so rather than switching the tps, I just put the whole thing on. Runs like a charm. Thanks for the help guys!
  20. Oh Yaa, I remember the days when I drank more Old Mill in my car than I did in the bar. It's been 24 years since then, Now i'm a 77%er. Now when I do something stupid behind the wheel, I don't have to wait till the next day to have my buddies tell me all about it!
  21. Those chevy flares look pretty good on there, lots of coverage for rusty box sides.
  22. Ya, you guys are probably right.seemed like a good idea at the time. I'd like to put a spool in it someday anyway.
  23. I drive my 91 wrangler S almost every day to work, or church or where ever. Although I have wheeled it before, once I got my Comanche going, The poor thing doesn't get to play much anymore.
  24. I have the original Powerlock limited slip in my D60, and I didn't put any friction modifier in it. The way I understand, the stuff just makes the discs slip a little so they don't shudder. I left it out so it grips better. seams to work fine.
  25. Check out Shelbyluvv"s Project Black Betty right here. He's taking a break right now but theres lots of good stuff done already. I'm planning to put a 5.2 and ax15 in my 89 comanche this winter, have most of the parts rounded up.
