Havent started this project yet...just trying to get some perspective on my project b4 i begin: Well i have been reading up on all the projects of 6" or higher and I'm trying to plan out my stuff b4 i tear into it: Here is what i got so far -4.5 RE coils -RE drop brackets and hardware -control arms -ACOS -JKS disconnects -shocks for 6" and up -superlift adj trackbar and RK drop bracket -ZJ pitman arm (1" drop) -RS5000 steering stabilizer -SOA perches (anti-wrap) -RS9000 rear shocks things i think i need to address or need help with: 1. steering issues?--> i have a new drag link, ZJ tie rod now..sufficeient enough steering?? 2. Driveline issues?-->i have the factory D44 and was wondering even if i set the correct angles will i still need a longer shaft, SYE and new driveshaft or what?? and anything else i forgot to mention than anyone can think of THX

Swaybar, who needs it!
offroader461 replied to Renegade's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i had the swaybar off my xj and put it up on the back of my MJ and it won't really fit to well...the bends and stuff don't contour with the back of the MJ anywhere...so i tossed it in the trash and used the spring tie in plates as BPE for my upper rear shock mounts on the XJ :D -
 :USAflag: very cool

Swaybar, who needs it!
offroader461 replied to Renegade's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
must be aftermarket...MJ don't have a factory rear bar...only front...XJ's came with a rear bar and i deleted mine but still have the fronts on both my XJ and MJ...drove my MJ after i lifted it for about a month w/o it and immediatly put it back on...Thats why most lifts address the sway bar with either: drop brackets, longer links or disconnects if the bar wasnt necessary they wouldn't need to put this stuff in a lift kit...just my .02, i run mine and only disconnect it OFFROAD -
89 manche adds transmission oil pan

Should I swap an 8.25 for my Turdy5??
offroader461 replied to 89MJComanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Nah i would pass unless its free...the 27spline 8.25 is marginally better than the D35...if you have 3.55's in your D35 already i would just keep it there and upgrade to something better later...maybe an 8.8...thats what I'm doing...or hold out for a 29 spline 8.25....much more beefier than the turd 27spline counterpart -
i have ACOS and would never go back....using steel washers--->id pass i bought my ACOS used for 75 bucks...thats the only reason i bought them..other than that id recommend polys..they are cheap

518 / 46RH rebuild for a ZJ???
offroader461 replied to CEThomas's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
518 is the other name for the tranny...4spd w/ OD....i had one in my 92 Ram...it was ok other than it shifted like crap -
Eh...ground clearance w/these brackets has never been an issue w/ me and my trucks...had them on my 92XJ that was a rockcrawler and never got hung up...must be lucky :brows: i picked the brackets and all associated hardware only yesterday...passed on the UCA/LCA and the perches were gone...just gunna use them for a while until i can finally afford my LONGARMS...thats the goal...brackets are only temporary...pics up later Update 9/16/07: Got everything for the front ready..bought some Pro-comp ES3000 for a cherokee w/6" lift for $30 for the pair of fronts and they are only 1 month old..and got the rear perches :D ...Love them great deals...now i just need to weld the up and I'm ready to rock and roll

:agree: i have never owned a new truck b4 but i usually take my time when looking and pick up a decent vehicle and make it nice again w/o the car payments..... :nanner:

Aight Checking My Lift Plans (Homebrew)
offroader461 replied to CMMagnussen's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i have a 8.8 install kit from MORE if ya want it...got it and never used it...found i have a D44... :D -
:agree: yea the paint is awesome....looks like the bed is tilted up toward the back causing the gap to be smaller at the top than the bottom....still looks just awesome...keep up the good work

RE is an awesome kit but i can afford it....although i am a master of trading and buying stuff so i will have shortly the DB, LCA, UCA for about 350-400 and already have the 4.5" RE springs for $30.... :D I have a Rough Country Kit in my MJ right now and ill admit that it was stiff at first but now has a really smooth ride and i have no complaints....if you wanna do a cheap lift and upgrade later go with the RC...but if you don't plan to upgrade to longarms anytime soon...drop some coin on the RE kit and youll be much happier

i thought about doing it then decided not to b/c: -does not address LCA/UCA situation as of yet -3" springs and 3"spacers...not in my comfort zone (get 4.54-5" springs) -I have a D44 so the SOA kit wouldnt work for a cheap lift it a good solution but i would hold out for a better lift that will address the control arms...i needed longer LCA on my MJ..l think my front sits about 3.75" or 4"...not sure b/c i don't have stock front fender anymore :D
