:help: Still need help Fuel pump sending unit in my 89 Comanche :headpop: Ok now that the weather has warm up a little (16F)I've taken the fuel pump out of the tank. I checked the relay and it clicks. I checked the fues link and thats ok. I checked under the truck and were the harness connects to the fuel pump there is power only to the red wire. I believe the red or orange is the hot and the black should be the ground. I have a test light and had a pal turn on the key and I only get a light from the red to a ground, on the transfer case. Then when I connect to the black ground and the red while someone turns the key I get nothing, no light. Any ideas out there? Is there another test or a pressure switch? I replaced my bed with a wooden bed would this be any reason I don't have a ground? I have two pumps both used. When I connected to the battery I get a low noise on one and on the other I get a loud noise. Thats connecting the red to the pos post and the black to the -neg. So this says the louder one is the good pump. there are a total of 3 wires the other wire is for the float and that works. When I connect to the + pos battery to the red and the -neg to the green or blue the light is on and if I move the float up the light dims and then out.

Sending unit test....?
lennyKatan replied to lennyKatan's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
is there a slap on the smilies? Not yet! so :thwak: I did and I even checked 2 x's. :wall: :wall: :wall: time for :fs1: -
My 89 comanche has had the gas tank and sending unit out for about 5 months. I was patching up and closeing all the holes. Been flat & out with a bad back. Today I tried to sart it. Nothing engine turns but no fuel. I check the fuel rod bleeder and nothing came out. The 2 lines from the tank (sending unit) one is bigger its the out one and the return is the smaller size, correct? Also checked the out line of the fuel filter no gas! I turned the key on and I don't notice any sound from the sending unit. Is there a test for this, if there is how? Are the hoses correct? Are there any fuses for the sending unit? I also disconnected and reconnected the map.

Fuel Sending Unit what lines go....?
lennyKatan replied to lennyKatan's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for your reply. I was thinking that was it while look up at it. Just wanted to be sure. What about the vent lines where do they go? thanks for your help -
there are two lines coming out of the sending unit at the side of the fuel tank. One line should be the fuel out to the filter the other is a return line. My problem is I forgot which is which. Also the two vent lines go to what? I'm off my back and getting around so trying to finish and getting my 89 comanche moving. Well I'm on my back on the cold ground trying to get my truck moving! Once i get it started I sure I will fine what ---k up :fs1:

Would anyone have a Shematic for the 89 short bed Comanche? I only need the lines going to the rear brakes and how they connect to the proportion valve and to the flex valve! There are two one from the nose and another from under the block. What goes where is the :wall: I did put labels but the free range chickens or the goats that i had took care of that  need to get this project done before the ----- flies up here thanks

That's a great reply, Thanks. To make sure I understand your saying the line coming from the combination valve going to the rear is/should be the one coming from the nose or the valve end of the block. Correct? That would then leave the line coming from the bottom of the block is the by-pass. This line should be the 1st line under the block, from the nose line (main line). The next line / port is to the right / drivers side brake, that would leave the one on the other nose end would be to the front passenger side. Correct? How would you check to see if this proporation valve works as it should? Not by the nearest tree! As you say "this would not be a good thing" Thanks for your help

Under the master cylinder is the combination valve. I have four lines coming out of it. two of those lines are for the front brakes. The two that is for the back is the question I have. Would it be a problem if those two lines don't go the same way as they once did? non-abs Also I notice somthing is missing....and thats the rear stabilizer bar  I have this comanche for about 5 years and never had any problem with this. lucky hay :shake:

Hi getting my 89 comanche ready to get back on the road. But as I was doing my brake lines I ran into a juction at the rear above axel. It has two lines going into it or out of it :brows: There is this thing hanging from it. It spins around but for what? What is it and is it needed? I've been reading some of the write up's but it is kind of losing me :ack: I read that some of you have change it but to what? :wall: thanks for reading

 I've been down with a bad back so haven't been around to do much. I was last here looking for help replacing my floorboards. Still doing that. I have grind and keep on grinding. I also took the bed off and I'm grainding and yes still grinding. I'm planning on renting a pressurewasher and give it a good cleaning before I put por 15 on the bed fram. I'm thinking of putting por 15 before I close up my floors, any ideas about that? Now that I'm at this point should I frist replace all my rusty brake lines before I put the por 15 on? Maybe I should wait? Any ideas about that? Also Ive read here I think that por 15 shouldnt be left outside in the sunlight aftre its applied? Is that only because it isnt UV protective? What happens would it weaken it? Or only changers color? Happy to be back and doing stuff slowly :chillin:

I’ve used a hand wire brush a hand grinder and wire brush and I also used RustKutter from tractor supply. I only did the inside not underneath. Do I need to do underneath? Is POR 15 the only stuff to use on this job? At $40 a q it’s a bite much. How much would I need to do the floor pan area and to do the frame once I have the bed off? Has anyone used Durabak, instead? Question, I have 16g metal for the pans. Do I need to have all of the ridge’s bang in? All the ups and downs of what the pans use to look like, or it’s not so important? My rocker needs to be done too. Should I do all with one piece of metal? (Floor pan and Rocker)? As you could tell I'm new to this. Happy to give you all something to …LOL..about! What comes first the rocker or the pans if I can’t do it all with1 piece of metal? I’m planning on using rivets with metal screws to put the pans on whatever is left of the floors.

Hi another request for help on how to remove the bed? What would I need to be watching out for? My idea is to work on my break lines and fuel lines repacing them with out the rust. clean up the frame n see if there is a need to light it up. thanks
