  1. if you can locate a 96 booster..it will just go right in w/o the rod swap....just need to change the brake light switch....easier than changing the rod...i tried that but just put the 96 light switch in instead
  2. the old was the original from '87...figured it was time for a new one!
  3. no i don't see why not
  4. yea i set mine to about .85...thats what my FSM said..so i followed it
  5. i have an aftermarket autometer guage...ill put that on and see my actual temp and double check...
  6. it will work but the 96 style is a easier swap to do...the 97 is a bit more difficult in my opinion...i have done two jeeps my MJ has a 96 and a buddys XJ has the 97...here's what youll need to make it work -Power booster -Same year Master Cylinder -1/4 aluminum spacer (goes between firewall and booster) -brake light switch (or you can splice yours) -new brake lines from the master to the proportioning valve its a direct "bolt-in" there is just other work that need to be done for it to correctly work...Hope this helps
  7. he stuffed a 400ci Chebby motor in it
  8. Well I'm having a strange problem with the cooling system on my MJ....It seems to be running hotter than normal now all of a sudden...couple months ago it was running great, never overheated then the guage sender went bad...so i replaced it...now it runs at 210 all the time and creeps over that until i turn the fan on..used to run at about 195-200? Any help it has an open cooling system conversion: -new rad. cap -new 3 core rad -hoses -water pump -195* thermostat all done within the last year or so and has no leaks....ANY HELP???
  9. your hissing sound is a bad brake booster...just replace it and it will be good as new
  10. whack it with a hammer...might just be rusted around the wheel studs where they come through the drum....
  11. the XJ leave is flatter so it really won't provide that big amount of lift...you could find some s10, dakota or MJ leaves since they are arched for SUA and use those as an AAL...won't sag either
  12. his tires look to be Mickey Thompson Baja Claws
  13. my 87 has screw in bumpstops as well
  14. This is a pretty sweet MJ....set up for desert racing....very cool  http://www.race-dezert.com/cgi-bin/trad ... d&id=16392
  15. most likley open...but a way to check is jack up the rear and spin 1 of the tires...if the other rear spins opposite you have an open diff..if it spins the same direction you have a limited slip
  16. i have an 87 MJ Cheif SWB...mine came with the following: D30/D44--->3.07 Open diffed T/C skid and Gas tank skid--->no front skid 4.0L 5spd Manual (BA 10/5) Np231 Full guages Bench seat

  21. i say do it...that would be awesome to have and very very unique
  22. i thought about it but decided not to only b/c you have to have a 23 spline trans due to the Np208 is 23splined and then have to fab up the linkage...around here they go for about $100
  23. you would be better off buying the Mile Marker conversion kit....everything you need in one shot..
  24. if your gunna run short arms at 6" you should invest in drop brackets..otherwise go longarms...the D30 can handle up to 36's with a few bolt-in upgrades
  25. ill get a diagram of mine up this week for ya...i used the newer switch with mine...the big white switch is for the cruise control
