  1. 80W gear oil? if it is its probably GL5 that will wear out your syncros! i ran full synthetic Mobil gear oil (gl5) in my AX15 in my YJ and wore the syncros out in about a year.
  2. the only thing it has to do with is the brass syncros its not the design of the trany its all gears and bearings. my friends running syncromesh in his AX15 only been running it about a year syncros haven't gone out yet. the Toyota equivalent to the AX5/15 uses motor oil (I'm going to run it in my ax5 if i ever get around to rebuilding it) my friend ran ATF in his never seemed to hurt it. i would try my luck with motor oil though its cheap and the yotas run it
  3. lol wut?

  5. rip off! i bought a 89 4wd XJ for $150 and got every thing i needed for my conversion except for rear driveshaft $600 is insane
  6. edit: i just noticed in the second picture the block is a mirrored image for some reason the cam should be on the pass side and the water pump on the drivers side
  7. they are press in like a wheel stud i just hit mine with a hammer and knocked them out. i went to the dealer to get new ones but they were really expensive so i just put regular bolts back in it i havent had any problems out of it.
  8. The Mad XJ write up is just for the 297X disconnect shaft swap, not for the disco delete swap. I just stuck a 1 piece axle shaft in my YJ and you need to pull the diff out and put a seal (national part #471763) where a non disconnect seal would normally be (its not machined to use a regular seal). the seal in the disco housing won't be needed anymore but i just left it there as a dam to maybe keep mud from filling up the disco housing.
  9. Yes they will..but they will not be disco axles. Those went away with the HO in 1991. CW All YJ's had the disco axle. I think it was in 1994 they went to the 297X joints on the ABS equiped YJ's but in 1995 all of them got the bigger joints. I don't really know if the 297X joints are a upgrade when useing the stock shaft because the holes were just bored out bigger to accept the bigger caps. my friend ripped the ears off the inner shafts on both sides on his TJ the joints dident even break. The ears on my YJ's shafts were bent in slightly and couldent get the clips on the caps so i bought some non disco 297X shafts off ebay
  10. i have found them for $75 here but you got to pull them yourself.
  11. Wranglers never came with the Renix 4.0 so it must be HO
  12. Image Not Found
  13. Threads snapped off mine and there was no way to chuck it in a lathe to cut new ones... so i just drilled a hole down the center of the shifter and taped it and stuck a stud in it and screwed the new knob ontot the stud... works perfect, looks factory
  14. lawl no... just a picture i found, i thought it was funny......
  15. they are studs but are not welded... It made it easier to line up when putting it together at the factory. i just put bolts back in mine when i put my bed back on its a metric thread iirc
  16. I like the mounts i made for mine but i never finished them... i was going to strengthen it with 2" angel at the bottom of the frame rail so it would kinda be shaped like the factory mounts so it wouldn't bend when side loaded. tube is 2x5" 3/16 Image Not Found
  17. All the MPFI 2.5's have aluminum covers XJ's, YJ's and Dakotas had them i picked mine up for $20 on ebay. the CCV tubes are a bit different but its easy to make work, and no more leaks!
  18. i don't think it will work renix and HO intake ports are shaped differently... i don't even think you could really make it work. i know a renix gasket don't mate up to a HO intake because i got the wrong one with my rebuild kit HO ports are higher
  19. Same things in a jeep book i have had for years i think its called "jeep the unstopable legend" or something like that. It's a shame...
  20. The bellhousing from a jeep T-4/5 can be made to work with a SM465. I just took all my bellhousings and cast aluminum in to be recycled or i would have sold it cheap (i think you can get them on ebay cheap also). and you will have to figure out a way to rig up the CPS Here is info from novak adapters http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/sm465.htm
  21. 89 2.5 2wd comanche when i was 15. I bought it with paper route money for $2,200. I couldent afford a CJ7 in good shape they were all around $5,000
  22. I'm going to be putting a 1 piece shaft in my YJ. i was reading around about it awhile ago and they say that not all the housings are the same. and there are 3 possiable different seals depending what year the axle housing was made in. i havent messed with mine yet so i don't know, but might want to keep that in mind.
