  1. Darn nice truck. He's nutz if he thinks he'll get close to that. If he does, I'm selling mine. If he can get 14K, I can get 5K. :huh???:
  2. Agreed. What the heck happened to the History Channel and Discovery. What do most of the shows on History Channel have to do with history now? I hardly ever watch that channel now and it used to be my favorite. I've been thinking of cancelling Dish...
  3. Wait... I'm guessing you're in Iowa...
  4. Wait... I'm guessing you're in Iowa...
  5. Where are you? I have a 4.0 motor attached to a junk cherokee I'd like to get rid of.
  6. Not sure, but I think that the XJ in the pic is the one he is keeping, not the 97 he traded for the MJ. I think you got screwed on the trade though... :dunno: Oh well, you have a MJ to work with... :wrench:
  7. That's what I was thinkin'. It's an MJ, man. Not a XJ.
  8. Sounds like if I have the problem again, I'll be bypassing. I had a donor so replacing was easy and free.
  9. Long time, but it's fixed. Someone on the Jeepforum was having a similar issue. The issue is the fuel pump ballast resistor. Some bypass it. I have a donor, so I just pulled the one off the XJ. It idles better than it has in years and doesn't die anymore. Simple fix. Thought folks would want to know in case they are having the same problem. So, Eagle... Don't live with it. Fix it. There is now a living person who knows what it is! Me! :wrench:
  10. search online. Not sure but I think the dakota's are wider.
  11. Saw the picture in your post, thanks. Never seen that one before. Of course, 95% of my experience with MJ's is with mine.

Well all you guys go off and buy your Audis and BMWs and Porches and whatever Eurotrash rides you think are cool, then move to Europe and stay there you pansies. Like I said, good ole American Shelby.
  13. He stated that his truck has gauges. There is no need to change senders. Missed that... Sorry. I would like to see a pic. The only clusters I've seen are the full gauges with tach and the one with only fuel and speedo and idiot lights. New one on me :huh???:

If I could afford a 38K car, I'd totally be getting an 07 Shelby...
  15. Was the one with the camper a long or short bed? I'd be interested in the camper shell if it was a long bed.
  16. Tach may be defective. Mine worked fine when I switched it over. You need to change out the oil pressure sending unit by the distributor and the temperature sensor at the back of the head for those gauges to work properly. The sending units on there now are for idiot lights, not gauges. Check my build thread in my sig as I did this and I'm pretty sure I have pictures of the sending units and their locations.
  17. I wouldn't say I love it, but I do like it. I like it for several reasons. I know its complete history as my father-in-law bought it brand new. I like it because it's kind of unique. I like it because it is 4X4 solid axle and durable as hell. It's a tough old truck. It's been through the ringer and is like the energizer bunny. I like it because of its size and capacity (big ton). Now love, that is the other vehicle in my sig pics.
  18. What's under the hood, man?
  19. Was it the black one? You said they had a new one... so did they have 2? If so, what was the other one like? Glad you got your bed. I told you that one was in good shape. What did you have to give for it?
  20. I got lucky and found a donor XJ the same year as my MJ. Are you sure the head gasket is leaking oil? That doesn't sound good. Have you cleaned the engine up to confirm that is where it is coming from? These things leak from multiple places...
  21. Nice Truck, Gilligan (couldn't help it), keep up the good work! Look forward to your build thread.
  22. You should be able to get the speedo cable disconnected from the gauges. Press the little clip where it attaches to the back of the gauge and it should pull out. Shouldn't have to remove it from the tranny. If the temp sensor won't screw in, then something is wrong. Is it too big or too small to go into the hole? Does the old one screw back in? Like said above, maybe you have the wrong one... Good Luck!
  23. There is probably a how to thread in the how to DIY section. But, it's pretty straight forward. I did it on mine last year. Replace the gauge cluster. Replace the oil pressure sending unit by the oil filter. Replace the temperature sending unit on the back of the head. Should work fine after that. I'm pretty sure I have pics of both the sensors in my build thread. Check my sig for that thread. Good Luck! :wrench:
  24. There are a multitude of factors that it could be. Are you sure it is getting fuel and spark? Has it ever run since the PO rebuilt the engine? It could be the distributor isn't in there correctly. It could be the computer is faulty. Is everything hooked up? Are the spark plug wires in the correct locations? It's difficult to diagnose without being there. Give us as much information as you can. :hmm:
  25. As I've said many times, my favorite MJ. How about some daylight pics now that the bar is in. What kind of bar is that? That is just the kind I'd like to put in mine.
