  1. I got a couple D35s Ill trade you for a D44 or 8.8 then
  2. @ghetdjc320 The 8.8 is better than both the D35 and D44 in almost every way minus the c clips. which they do still make a c clip eliminator kit. It has larger diameter tubes, bigger ring gear, bigger pinion, can get thicker 31 spline shafts stock, comes with disk brakes. The ground clearance is only about 1/2" difference between the D44 and 8.8. The added weight is actually a bonus keeping your COG lower and wheels planted on the ground. Its marginally narrower which will actually help your turning radius but can be "fixed" with spacers or the eliminator kit. And if you do the eliminator kit, you end up running the same wheel bearings as a Dana 60. Warn actually tested and compared the strengths of these axles some years ago. The article said that their machine maxed out at 6500lb for the axle shaft test Axle shaft Strength and output torque rating by Warn and 4 Wheeler The axle shaft strength tested by Warn Ind: F8.8= 6,500 (lb. ft.) D44= 4,600-5,000 (lb. ft.) D35C= 4,000-4,300 (lb. ft.) COT: Continuous output torque rating MOT: Maximum output torque rating (Numbers from January edition of Fourwheeler, page 60.) Dana 35 rear axle COT: 870 MOT: 3480 Dana 44 rear axle COT: 1100 MOT: 4460 Ford 8.8 28spline COT: 1250 MOT: 4600 Ford 8.8 31spline COT: 1360 MOT: 5100 Dana60 semifloat COT: 1500 MOT: 5500] I ran a stock 8.8 in my YJ locked on 35s for years without issue. I know a guy running 39" stickies on his YJ with a built 8.8 in it too. When I blew my D35 on 33s with a 4cyl driving home from work, there was no way I was going to put a dime into that turd lol and I had a non c clip D35 too
  3. Is this what youre looking for? https://www.ebay.com/itm/393516887868?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D245484%26meid%3Df2af8bf9abbd407eb12f5923742453c4%26pid%3D101195%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D292748451854%26itm%3D393516887868%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv11WebTrimmedV3MskuWithCorrectedRevOptLambda85KnnRecallV1UpdatedPrice%26brand%3DWalker&_trksid=p2047675.c101195.m1851&amdata=cksum%3A393516887868f2af8bf9abbd407eb12f5923742453c4|enc%3AAQAHAAABMJalPYw7S3vZBrRkJxSbqr9G5Ln%2BiGQvIASW55TvzrMxzwT3zxw0knEyH6Jyqm%2FzYjOYqJN9cotMyvRpikhtEtiBPaan5nQZBRsOXKIldQmsdRvIWuzE473JLPHmAoNVqcYW8Qz0FWJqPEo%2FFJXJjZqoqwaSx%2BmRm%2FJy%2FNMkwNmNOdg3AOoVt4iVDKCfG4GX7VWKO1x8XAOPU5bAEp29%2BrOapm9%2FovIOYqKb5%2FKRez60mQIi1vIWMqLGyx0Z9Tw4jPgcDFOK9RGn1lXY3Gi6tubvWybcVTKnGZ61lUjHFmJrQAQt9sBsSG%2BJaq5Geax4o6uGv07P%2BP7XU6%2Bg8Uq4tX6Wpnrx23eUOHcvfUIPjszN0OQIzYAi5mG%2F9oSLPqi4cGP5A6w3wKzNWO3M9lcl2yc%3D|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A2047675
  4. Hide a horn somewhere and hook it up to the trailer harness so that whenever he hits the brakes or a blinker, the horn goes off.
  5. I'm 33 and I currently have 8; 1972 Chevy Nova project car 1988 Chevy S10 lowered 1988 Jeep MJ stock 1989 Jeep YJ on tons 1999 Jeep XJ two door long armed 2004 Jeep WJ Overland 2010 Ram 3500 CCLB DRW 2016 Subaru Impreza hatchback My first car was a 1999 Dodge Neon Second car was a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Third was a 1990 Chevy Blazer two door And Ive flipped and parted out more XJs and YJs than I could count.
  6. I found the best way to search for stuff in a particular forum is to use google. Enter " site:comancheclub.com tool chest " without the quotes and you will get all threads about tool chests just from comanche club.
  7. I also like the logo'd panels
  8. Things I know -I will need to get a front and rear driveshaft of the proper lengths. -Wrangler transmissions clock the tcases up and I will need to hammer or possibly cut a hole in the floor pan to fit -Wrangler shifter linkages are different. Things I need to figure out -Could I use one of those heim joint replacement NP231 shift assemblies for an XJ? -What pilot bushing/bearing do I use? Looking on rockauto I think its the same from 88-98 -what clutch do I use? (guessing I could use any year AX5 clutch) -How to make the speedo work? (mechanical vs electric speed sensor) -what crossmember and mount do I use? (guessing I could use same one thats on the truck) And is there anything else I'm missing? I want to get all the parts together before tearing the MJ apart since it does drive right now
  9. Had some time to kill in the garage the other day. Was checking all the fluids and found that the brake fluid was pretty nasty so I pumped out what i could, replaced with new and bled all the brakes. Cleaned up and greased the slide pins. Unbent a dust shield that was causing the scrapping sound. And to my surprise, the brakes actually feel pretty good now! Then I started to dive into the electrical mess...only shocked myself a couple times lol but I think I figured out the POs mess. In the box there are 4 relays being used. One for the light bar, one for the light pods and I'm guessing the other two are for blinkers and brake lights. Eventually I'm going to get rid of all this mess. Mostly likely when I do the heater core Finally, I have a couple leads on AX5s but I have a question that I can't seem to find the answer to. Does anyone know if I could use any AX5, like say out of a TJ, without having to use a custom pilot bushing, clutch or anything else? I want this to be as straight forward as possible.
  10. Theres garages for rent all over the place in CT. I know a few guys in my jeep club that rent spots that fit several vehicles with a bathroom and office space. Theyre between $800-$1200 a month
  11. Small up date. I got rid of the 2 door XJ, which let me put the YJ on the trailer and the MJ into the garage. I decided to just swap out the 2wd axle with a high pinion D30 out of my wifes XJ that already has matching 3.55s. It would have cost me a couple hundred bucks to do brakes on the 2wd axle so this just seemed like a no brainer. My buddy that took the 2 door XJ said hes got an ax5 with a np231 still on it out of a YJ I can have. Just trying to decide if I want to find a XJ or TJ ax5 instead to get the external slave. Oh and interior will probably get another overhaul. The seats I put in there really arent that comfortable. I'm thinking I might throw a bench seat in there for now with a cover on it until I find some nice buckets. I got a $200 gift certificate to Qtec that I'm going to put towards floor pans. The heater core needs to be replaced and I still have to decide if I want to keep the original dash or swap in the tan one from the XJ
  12. Looks like a wrench would fit in there. Or you can use a BFH and bang whatever out of your way. But cutting your way to it might be easiest like pete said
  13. When I first joined this forum I was searching for some rear bumper threads...I'm still confused as to how this started off legit and within 2 posts went to the most random things found on the internet
  14. Heat is always helpful. some good vice grips or bolt extractor set could do it. Mostly recently, I had a caliper bracket bolt strip out on me. Nothing was working and then I had a thought to try a pipe wrench. Figured if it could grab and turn a pipe, why not a rounded off bolt? A little bit of heat and the pipe wrench turned it out no problem
  15. They are. I'm just hoping I can get away with not clocking it to the MJ/XJ position. I actually have an AX15 from a XJ in my garage but don't think itll be worth putting in this jeep after sourcing all the parts to run it behind the 2.5
  16. Good to know. I wonder if its the same for an AX5. Id much rather beat the floor with a hammer than re clock it
  17. Did you have to do anything to make clearance for the tcase being clocked up? Any modifications to the floor?
  18. Hey, I'm in CT too! Lets see some pics of the comanche and donor wagoneer!
  19. How much weight could you put in the bed of an MJ? My big truck is down for a bit and I have to pick up a fireplace insert soon. It weighs about 450-500lbs. Shouldnt be an issue, right?
  20. See lol thats why I asked first. My Jeep knowledge base is mainly YJ history so I'm not sure whats rare/worth anything. Youd probably cry at the amount of cherokee stuff I just threw away over the years parting them out, I did when I got the comanche
  21. I was kind of expecting that response lol I just thought burgundy was pretty rare. Hes asking $800 and has everything but the steering column, headliner and vinyl floor mat. Id love to spruce up my shotty interior with this setup, just don't know if its worth it
  22. Whats a full burgundy interior out of another comanche going for?? Theres one for sale nearby and I'm really tempted to get it! @eaglescout526 I feel like youd know what itd be worth lol
  23. Decided to drive it to work today. The blower motor quit working a couple miles from home so I could barely see out of the windshield . Theyre painting new lines on the road I normally take to work so I was forced to take the highway for the first time in this thing lol it drove well for what it is. Being a 4 speed, I wouldnt take it over 65mph but luckily I only had to go up a couple exits. It definitely needs brakes in the front and I think the light scraping noise on hard left turns is related to that. The 2 door came with a new set of front brakes on it but I'm not sure that they will fit on the 2wd axle. Or maybe I would have to swap hubs as well. Or just swap the whole axle since I want to eventually 4WD swap it anyways
  24. I messed with it for a bit. It had deep grooves in it where it was catching so I smoothed all that out. Straightened the bracket. Mimicked the bend on the driver side strap and the first try dug another goove and started to bend the bracket again. Doesnt help that all the rubber bumpers are squished and or mangled. I might just try to find some cables that will work
