Hence why he said if he got a 92 or newer. Actually he said '92 or older. I'm not arguing, technically we're both right

isn't that bushing just to bolt newer tranny's up? I thought the older AX-15's had the smaller shaft tip dia. At least my 2WD '90 did. I had to get that bushing to put a '98 AX-15 in. (Thanks again for that, Pete)

:ack: it sits like this right now. it's only job is plowing my driveway, which it does quite well.

I have some rusty stock brackets on there right now after I cut this rusted junk off... had to torch the bolts out. one of the PO's welded up a redneck hitch and actually welded part of the old brackets to the frame. That's a job for spring too. Winter sucks!

Truthfully, I'm a little scared to put it on my crappy, rusted frame. Although I guess that means I have to make my frame less rusty... and crappy.

Well, if you're being serious, which I don't think you are.... The upper control arms consist of black oxide coated socket cap screws of an unknown grade that are welded to what looks to be 16 or 18 gauge sheet metal that was likely bent with a hammer and a vice. These upper control arms are going to be responsible for handling the wear and tear of a lifted off-road vehicle with VERY large tires on it. If they hold up for an extended period of time, I will be very surprised. He did say he was going to replace them with something a little more robust, but he also said he would be using these for the time being and if they failed, so what. I just hope that when they fail, he is traveling 5MPH on an open, flat surface with no one around him. He should probably put bigger welds on them then.

mine had a broken third leaf when I got it. both sides though, so it didn't lean. You said you had the rear apart so you might have just not noticed when you took it apart, but it should have been noticeable.

You can keep the system you've got if there's nothing wrong with it. I haven't seen one that looks like that new part. It's the heater control valve and it keeps the coolant from circulating through the heater core all the time. you don't REALLY need it. Most people aound here decide to convert to an open system from a newer model MJ or XJ and ditch the pressure bottle. :Canadaflag:

Looks like the only small ones they make are ranger and tacoma. Might be holding out a long time for an MJ model.

well said.

You should be able to take your column apart and tighten the bolts inside. there's a write up somewhere if you want to search for it. I would, but coffee break's over.

Yep! It's already on it's way to me. I'm glad (for me) you didn't see this thread sooner. I saw yours in your build thread a while ago. You never mentioned whether it was NOS or not so I thought it was used or repro or re-chromed or something. Nice find for you too! Again, I'm not sure whether this one is black or chrome, I'll find out when it gets here. (I don't want to ask and spoil the surprise).
-
I just may. I haven't decided the route I'm going with mine yet. I was going to build a bumper but never got around to it. And I don't plan on a resto, So we'll see. You're first on the list, Rob  I hope its not a fey.

I sent a parts request email last night and I got this response this afternoon: "The rear bumper for your 1990 Jeep Comanche has been discontinued...but I do happen to have a new one in stock, the list price is $339.00 but if your interested you can have it for $100.00. Let me know. Thanks, Cliff @ Haley's White Rock Dodge" Ohmygod Ohmygod Ohmygod Ohmygod!!! My hands started shaking. I gave him a call and he says sure enough he went and looked at the box. He's like "we're never gonna sell it." HA! If he knew what I know.... It's shipping out tomorrow. I forgot to ask if its black or Chrome but who cares. So, that's how I made out. :clapping: :jump:

KJ renegade Lightbar on an MJ

how well does it fit the roof contour? or do you just suck it down with the screws? -
Pics of those Bushwacker XJ flat fenderflares.

Are those on stock wheel openings or are they enlarged? -
I had to laugh at this :clapping: True. They rebuilt the first one and it didn't even last 10k.

I'm gonna phone them Monday just to find out.

Stopped into the stealership today. (I drove a friend to pick up his '08 cummins after getting it's 2ND replacement tranny). And just decided to ask the parts guy "what are the chances you could find me a rear bumper for a comanche?" So he looks it up... Apparently White Rock BC has a complete assembly (brackets, endcaps, everything) IN STOCK! He says it's the only one in North America. $375 + 10% transfer fee + freight. :( No I didn't get it. I can't justify it. So if anyone lives near White Rock, go get it before I break down and buy it.

Isn't it time for some progress on this build?
-
Crappy. I had my '02 cummins stolen from a hotel parking lot on my wedding night. It ended up being a write-off. When I reported it to the police the first thing they say to me is "you know, a club is only like 50 bucks". I said "thanks for the info, can I speak to someone who cares?". Funny thing is, a remote starter/alarm was my wedding gift from my wife. If you find that kind of thing funny. Makes you feel pretty helpless though, I hope you find who did it.
