Bushwacker flat style flares on MJ?
SW86 replied to comancheap's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
wish i could get a roof rack like that  -
a friend just threw on those wally world MTs and says they're okay. he's not really an offroading guy (mud, maybe) but this weekend Ill put them to the test and let you know :chillin:

front shaft is shot. only one ujoint is good, other two are toast along with the centering ball. then i knocked off a weight (BFH) when taking them out. my thing is. I'm about to jump to 6.5 but would my stock shaft be fine at those heights? also the rebuild with everything i need is next to 100 bucks. tom woods isnt that far off from there. what would you do?

i know several guys running those retread tires and have nothing bad to say about them. even running aired down (voids warranty iirc) for rocks, they held up good
-
peanut butter sandwich and a nutri-grain bar. ill mix it up with different snacks but the sandwich stays the same
-
awsome now keep it away from high waters!!
-
yup tractor tires are awsome and boggers are too. super swamper tires are pretty much designed for mud. they don't really do well else where... besides rocks that is but depending on which you get, get ready for chunks to come out of them. your not crawling though so your good

i have somewhere in the 115k-117k area. i need to do the math since i swap in another cluster but ive only put on a few thousand on it since its a trail rig mainly now.
-
how do you know that if you don't know the brand.? edit: i checked your thread, just ask sinkrun what they are. if it is true though it would have to be spring rate like cody said. even with that though i doubt a 4.5 would measure the same as a 6.5 when its installed......i just don't see how they could be the same in the end result no matter the spring rate. if it was made to be a 4.5, wether the spring rate soft or firm, it would never match 6.5. i just don't see how. ahhh wait wait, maybe you have ZJ springs? arent they supposed to net you a little more then XJ/MJ

huh. my RK 6.5 coils are 22" long and my RC 4.5 coils are 17" long. the 4.5s are under the truck though. somethings not right there.

a guy in my local club on 35s and 4.88s in the 30. just trying to back up a small hill
-
good thing i decided to buy tires and rims first. i was seriously set on 4.56s/33s. figured its not my DD just a trail rig and cruise to the store once in awhile. i looked at the grim reaper chart and it seemed that i could get away with occasional 35s on 4.56s and still get okay gas mileage and power. that thread did slightly change my mind again to 4.88s but that tiny ring and pinion in the 30 really gives me the creeps. i guess its all luck of the draw on breaking one though cause some have had no problems as where others constantly break them :dunno: plus was it here that someone said only two teeth are touching on 4.88s at all times as where three are touching on 4.56s?? either way if you want to run 4.88s in the 8.25, ive looked into it and people who run the nitro gears say nothing but good about them.

@#$%ing stupid....
-
hey thats actually a pretty good start.
-
i went cheap on my front because to me its all you really need. i got the zone offroad diff guard. it has bashed some rocks and concrete hard and still is in good condition. minus a few deep scars :D when i buy one for the rear i think ill go all out. the idea of having a drain plug has always been a good one. then again i run lube lockers so popping the cover isnt really an issue

SW86 replied to ComancheKid45's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
what? why? here's a good write up to do it yourself. 8.25 but same difference i guess http://forum.northeastjeep.org/index.php?topic=21270.0 -
pretty good. just "the pig" is good to me. nice offroad truck name
-
worst song ever. the video was TERRIBLE! should of left a good thing alone. what a hack, is from now on going to follow his name
-
same here. the one with no rust. making it 4wd is easy but dealing with rust is a headache. then again i wouldnt know since mine was rust free!! :chillin:
-
Rock Krawler 3 link here and love it. ride is great, flex is great, bars/brackets are stout as hell. used them as sliders a few times :D ive never been a fan of Y links. why i don't know, just don't. a friend is running the Iron Rock and likes it but i hate the design. and i don't think any long arm install on a MJ is going to be easy....or not as easy as drop brackets and all that

junkyard. I'm sure there are some XJs out there
-
well I'm now in the same boat as you. I'm looking for new tires. STT is on the list but I'm not really feeling it. MTRs w/kevlar, KM2s and Maxxis Creepy Crawler is what i think ive got it down too. they all have the sizes i like and prices that are decent. decisions, decisions :wall:
-
hey, Nitro gear 4.88s for the 8.25........... :D
-
yes bringing it back! i saw a comanche in Dumb and Dumber just now. why I'm watching it, i don't know but its there. the scene where they show the colorado sign its sitting in traffic. a red one. nothing special, i just couldnt believe it.
