i still say they should make a truck out of the grand cherokee but i guess this option was a hell of a lot cheaper. i have a picture of the one in Memphis but I'm too lazy to upload it right now.
km2s are pretty good. kind of suck in mud IMO but overall a good tire. love how they did in the rocks. its hard to find a good looking, performing tire in the right size and price these days
id like to know this as well. I'm picking up an 8.8 this weekend. i think itd be fine since I'm going up to 6.5 but knowing before i dive in would be helpful.
last two comments pretty much answered that question. sounds like if i go over 33s i should go with 4.88s. if i stay 33s its 4.56s and 4.10s are a waste of time
the key with the tiny pinion is NOT to upgrade your shafts. it will break a shaft long before that pinion even thinks about breaking...or so several guys in my local club on 37s, 4.88s say.
I'm still thinking on this one myself but id really like someone with more know-how guide me. this week i am buying the gears so it will be one of the two! lol
I'm now thinking 4.56s and 34" meats. if 33s, AW4 and 4.56s are prefect, that set up should be decent. i don't know though but i do need to figure this out. I'm buying the rest of the parts i need to finish off the MJ and I'm thinking gears are next on the list.
i agree about how ugly it is. i wasnt going to say something but since it was said already.... they could do simple things like recess the trailer hitch and use bigger D rings tabs. itd still be ugly as hell but at least a little better. id do as stated and save to buy a better one or build/have built my own.
29 spline 8.25 for now.
and thanks cody. i was looking at the gear/tire charts online and at least 4.56s were looking pretty good and at the same price as 4.10s. ill check out the 4.88s now though and i def want to hear your thoughts on how it goes. i might have bought some in a few weeks but they might not be in before yours
I'm looking to upgrade the gears for the upcoming bump in lift and tires. ill probably stick with a 33 and might throw on some 35s once in awile. i do mostly highway cruising with a little city. i figured 4.10s would be best for both sets of tires and fuel consumption. this correct?
that first link is the exact one i was thinking of. I'm not going past the cab with mine since my bed rockers will be gone by then. i may go a few inches actually to run sliders off of. i honestly don't see the point of welding it to the bed. id say just run a support out to the frame if possible. its not like that thing is going to go anywhere anyway after all that welding lol so the support leg might just be overkill
^ x2. ive been looking into this more and more here lately. found a local steel place with what i need just need to dig up a few more threads before i go cutting into my MJ like that
i remember a guy here making or buying some rear bump stops that were the original stop but with a spacer built for it. i don't really know how to explain it but ill try. it has two round tubes and flat pieces to mount it. very simple design. I'm just wondering if anybody remembers it because i can't seem to find it. i can rig up a paint sketch if itll help jog some memories.
