mini beast Project: Stock To Beast!!!
JOMJ87 replied to MiNi Beast's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Thats the funny part downtown A cop pulle dme on a backroad and apologized but "he really want o look over my truck" but then i come on base and i get complaints. I drove my buddies YJ around without the doors on and while it was sitting at work 2 guys looked in and noticed his T-case shift knob was a grenade and freaked. They pulle dmy Captain outside to show him and complain. Some people really get to me. The only reason the base cops said anything was becasue of the complaint on 1 guy. Oh well sheetmetal will go on for the street casue 110 degress outside in the summer with the humidity is way to hot for no AC and just little windows to open. Back to your project i hoep all goes well with it. and keep us posted Cole -
Hey guys I need a longer front D-shaft and wanted to know if anyone knew of a stock one that would be 2.5"s longer then my stock. I have a 2.5/AX-5. If anyone knows please share as i need one ASAP. The only D-shaft repair shop has taken 3 months to fix my buddies so i am trying to stay away from that. I may weld one up and have him balance it but wanted to check for a suitible sub first. Cole

I have seen 2 trucks on these style tires. One mud drag truck and one mud truck trying to be a rock truck. Now 2 senerios.... 1. Mud guy stayed in mud and done awesome UNTIL he went a little sideways and then it went downhill. They don't have hardly any side bite. Meaning if you slide the rear or try turning real sharp you will slide. they turn into skis when they get sideways. 2. Mud guy went to a rock pile gunned it and was doing great UNTIL he started spiining the tires. which wasnt bad but they did the whole slip and grab 3-4 times then his axle went kaboom. I love the look but for rocks i say run away but if your strictly mud and don't try to mud drap race then you shoudl be great and happy. Just thought i would share my 2 experiences with those style tires. OH and i also have them on my ATV and love it casue i can cut donuts on pavement and its so old it don't have suspension and only goes like 30 but it gets to top speed fast. I just can't get rid of the little monster. ill get down Cole

mini beast Project: Stock To Beast!!!
JOMJ87 replied to MiNi Beast's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Thanks for the pics. Your temp design is similar to mine but i used a plastic snap latch and a strap. I would like to make something nice an d fancy but i think I'm going to do a hasp like you would use on a door and then use a pin thru that. Want be pretty but it will hold me in the truck. I also have to put sheeting over mine for driving on Base cause someone complained and then SF spoke with me about it. I don't understand why but oh well ill throw aluminum on there and call it good for the street . Thanks again Cole -
The Pearl in paint is added by spoon fulls and comes in a powder the way i have seen it. I believe some call it mother of pearl. You could go to a paint shop and buy a few spoonfuls from them and add it in. I may be way off but That is how it was explained to me when i was going to paint my MJ. Cole

JOMJ87 replied to MiNi Beast's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Great looking MJ but i would also like to request a picture of the tube door latches. I have to get some done for my doors and would like ideas. Thankls Cole -
Its ALIVE. I drove it around the block last night. Ran good for having 3 Vac leaks. Still have to finish some small stuff and rebleed the brakes but I have to go back to work at 1130 tonight so i don't know when it will get done. Hopefully it is driving and stretable by Sat. even though it might not be completely finished. Now that my Motor is in i think i will be happy for awhile not working on it but i Have some issues to take care of before i go wheeling and hopefully i can find a bench seat and get my new rear window in. Little projects from now on hopefully. Cole

new member needs big help
JOMJ87 replied to livingthemudlife's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Whats your location and we can try to find a rear for you. Several members have extra laying around. Oh and if your going to a V-8 you have alot to look into and the rear axle will need to be upgraded instead of replaced with another stocker. Cole -
Anyone here put a 4BT in a manche?
JOMJ87 replied to sinnaevd's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
http://www.4btswaps.com/forum/showthread.php?t=585 This is one i have seen on here. I have another link at home i believe to a different swap. Hope this helps Cole -
OK I will relook tonight at a guage. I am trying to decide what one i want to run or use. I am still debating the 4-1 but i really need ideas on a custom style dash. Now i say "custom" but i am looking for something functional not pretty. My stock cluster is going to be a headache to try to work out and I think doing up a custom cluster would make me happy. Thanks Cole
-
That was my biggest worry. I figured i would see if anyone had tried one of these before but if not i am going to go get the regular style brand name from autozone or somewhere. BTW has anyone made a custom dash or cluster?? If so do you have pics. I am not happy with mine and would like to go to my own design. I also found a shift light with the tach digital inside it so its kinda small. It was a neat design too. Thanks Cole

Broken link I fixed it for you hope you don't mind. http://www.teamcherokee.com/Weatherstrip/index.html Cole

Thats the hardest to get to IMO. you may even have to pull both sides to drive the new seal in. I replaced mine and its leaking now and wasnt before so now i have to do it all over again. you will have to fully dis-asemble the pass side to get to it. Its at the CAD area on the wheel side. Good luck. Cole

Pete not sure where to go with this but move if need be. What do you guys think of this gauge?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=180163552166&rd=1 It seems nice and its all in one. I am going to run a custom Cluster if it all works out and i was thinking i could do alittle more with the extra space. I am want to fiberglass it and angle the left side towards me a tiny bit. Also looking for a good aftermarket fuel gauge. Thanks Cole

Freerok that is the motor i want for my MJ i would love to have found one to throw in. Those are little monsters and they can take whatever you throw at them in the ways of power. If you could when you do the project let me know where you post the write up so i can take a look. Cole
-
And the verdict is in............ It made it without a scratch if you want pic proof ill send it but it made it today to my door with just a few scuffs on the tape but that can't hurt Duct tape anyway. Great package thanks again. Cole

Even incorperate a DIY with all the top asked questions kinda liek a FAQ page. Like all the info on the 8.8 swap and a how to. Stuf like that would be nice cosidering the huge mass of new guys this year. I remember when i first joined it was a set group that i could name off the top of my head that posted regular and now i don't knwo where to start. Nice to help them out though. Good idea Cole

They got one its called a 4blt cummins and is found in bread trucks and the like. Its the same but a 4 cyl instead of 6. Theres a link somewhere to a conversion site where a MJ was converted with that motor. Its still heavy but the guy got unreal numbers on the dyno with it. Ill see if i can find it. Cole
-
It should be centered and easy to see all edges. The tips shoudlnt be sharp angles. Back lash is how much slop is in it. So turn one way then reverse and see how much play there is inbetween. Cole

That looks great. I think i will recieve it in one piece after that stand up job. don't worry about not getting it out when you wanted you made up for that by a long shot on packing it. Thats a stand up job. Thanks for taking the extra effort. BTW i will let everyone know how it comes out. Cole

I have one too if you want just make a decent offer. Cole
