  1. Well hopefully that fixes it for you. We were way off on our guesses about vac. :D Cole
  2. It could be a weak charge from the alternator but i think what FXracing is saying if the alt is completely dead the battery has to run the truck thus it want run forever like this and will eventially the motor will die. With that said the radio will shut off the the lights before the motor so do as stated to check for a short that could be draining the battery when the motor is off. GOOD LUCK Cole
  3. Anyone able to help with the original questions. Still looking for answers. Thanks guys Cole
  4. Yes i believe it is but you can throw a push button on your dash and hard wire it for inspection. Just run a hot to the switch and then from the switch to the positive on the horn. Its very simple and cheap fix so you can get it on the road. I had to do this on mine casue the wires inside the column broke and the arc out causeing the horn to sound when i moved the wheel. Cole
  5. OH yeah i forgot the fuel pump wires on his YJ didnt match up for sure. One was suposed to be ran to a hot but at the junction it was on a ground wire. Just some more stuff to check. These thing can big headaches i know cause I'm getting ready to do it with his old 2.5 but i can't pass up a motor with only 37000 miles on it for as cheap as i got it. Good luck and if you have any questions i can get pics of his and a good explanation for you. BTW he just bypassed the junction block and ran it to the ignition so it still looks stock and function like it is. Its a little tighter to do on a MJ cause theres so mutch junk under the dash but its feasible. Cole
  6. Thanks I will keep that in mind. OH and sorry for the ythread jack guys. Cole
  7. Thats the exact swap i have dreamed of. You can find those motors in some bread truck or something and you can get them out of a motor home i believe and you can still get parts for them. I am going to be contacting him about this for all the info i can get and see how plausible it is. I knew that about the 6bt but one can dream. A 4BT with that torque would be awesome plus the gas milage it is perfect except it is still pretty heavy. Cole
  8. Well you could find a front from another chevy with the same Lug pattern and width I'm sure. Just have to dig. I waited almost 2 years to find a D44 and ended up getting a great deal on it plus it was off a MJ and was ready for SOA. Good luck in school i don't miss that. Cole
  9. Thanks I had found the pumps on Advance auto online bvut the issue is my truck is a 2.5L MPI which has a lower fuel pressure. The listed the same pump for all the way up to 94 on the YJ as they did for a 85-91 MJ but that can't be right. Its confusing but i think i will just pull them both and check them out after that. I will check Napa and see. I have access on to Mitchell on demand but the diagrams arent to good. I would like to have one from a 91 YJ to. The main spot i need is that junction block and what each wire is on it. so i know what needs to be moved and where to if anything. I am hoping the cluster will still work but i need the diagram to see and plus i got to seperate the headlight wiring from the main harness. Hopefully someone will have something to help me out cause i hate going in blind and its worse being wire harness junk. Cole
  10. One thing you need to consider is beffing the hell out of the frame rails especially in the engine compartment. You wouldnt want to put all that time and work into it and then rip your frame apart. Good luck and ill keep an eye out for you cause i want to see this done. OH and just a thought why not try a Cummins out of a ram??? That would be one mean beast and could you amagine romping down and pouring out black smoke form tires and exauhst man thats my dream I love a good cummins. Cole
  11. Well the 4.0 one ahs the PSI output i need i just was wondering if it would bolt to my assembly in my MJ without much issue. Cole
  12. Have you check any local JY they would have a explorer with a 8.8 in it prob and if its a U-Pull yard then it would be cheap. The same applys to the 44 if you could find something with one in it. The 8.8 is strong and they have alot of the same ratios as stock MJs. ON the note of the Chevy axle if you get the rear try for the front and put them both in so the width matches as well as the lug pattern. Cole
  13. Yes to the fuel pump doing it all the time so you can crush that option. Also what about the MAP sensor?? Just thought of it. It runs on vac to. Cole
  14. Now you just need a large rock pile and a back hoe and then you could lay out your on little offroad course. I always wanted to do that and one day i will have my own wheeling area where i play by my rules and make my own trails. Congrats Cole
  15. You may have ignition problems. For example if you ignition control wires run thru a junction on you truck the new harness may have the wires in diff locations ion the junction block thus them not getting power to them or working. Maybe try jumping all the ignition control stuff straight to your key or a switch or something. My buddy had to bypass the junction block on his when he done this swap in his YJ. I think i have an article on it i will dig and see if i can find it. Cole
  16. Maybe some kinda vaccum problem??? I know you said all 4 were spinning buit you could have some kinda issue with you vac when you go to 4lo. Also just a shot in the dark but it might help you find the issue. Good Luck Cole
  17. Check the width of it and the lug pattern is going to be Diff. You might find a XJ D44 for that if you look hard or even a 8.8. Also you shouldnt need a SYE unless you go Way above the 4"s your doing. I have close to 7.5 or more on mine and have a extended rear shaft and i have never had an issue at full flex. I wouldnt worry with it unless you go coilover or something really flexy in the rear and even then i would consider limit straps. Cole
  18. Thanks Pete. Cm'on guys i know someone can help me with my other questions.... Cole
  19. And its a direct bolt in?? I think i know of 3 in the JY so i might consider that. Cole
  20. MY main need is going to be a pump upgrade or a lower ratio gear box so it is easier to turn and is a little more powerful. I have seen alot of aftermarket pumps that are like this but i wanted to see if there is any experiance with any particlar setup. I have an idea as far as linkage which i think i am doing the flip trick to put it on top so it lines up better with the trackbar i have. Thanks for the answers so far I guess its a toss up on the flywheel so far. Cole
  21. Yeah i have heard both but i have heard of a few that had issues and i don't want issues cause as you can see i am already going over my head in wiring and stuff plus the engine is on the floor of my carport covered up so i want to put a clutch in it before it goes in. Another question: Now don't forget about the original ?s but I am also wanting to do some sort of power steering upgrade so that my 35s and steering are happier on and off road. Does anyone have any info on this for a MJ??? Again please don't forget about the original ?s I really need them answered first. Cole
  22. I thought i had seen it metioned but i couldnt find the post. But i will admit i dint search long. So do i replace it or call it good and see how it does? Well thats one question down now the other 3.... Cole
  23. But if you lift it more and put the XJ/MJ axle in it then your driveline angle is going to be much better plus its a HP so better clearance. Good find I have always wanted one for the interior luxary and then make it an offroad beast for a nice comfy 4wheeling experience and the look really nice with 33s or 35s on them. Cole
  24. Until XJs no longer where made. Since you know they work i guess you understand the striker doesnt line up and has to be modified and also IIRC the panel doesnt match your body lines correctly. Cole
  25. OK i have a few more questions for you guys about my inprogress motor swap. I am looking for a clutch kit on the cheap if anyone knows a good place to find one. I have seen them for 130 or so but thats the cheapest. BUT here is my question::: I have heard you can't turn the flywheel on a Jeep because it is concave or something like that? Is this true cause i will need it to be turned when i replace the clutch? Its a 2.5 out of a 91 YJ. Also My other unanswered questions is will a 4.0 fuel pump (just the pump) bolt on to my assembly in my 2.5 TBI MJ. They are the same part numbers and the 4.0 pump is the same as the 2.5 MPI so i was going to swap it in to my tank. Last one is Does anyone have a easy and simple to read wiring diagram of the 1987 2.5 TBI MJ from under the hood and dash for the engine controls and all. If you have one that shows location of the wires on the firewall junction block and where they are located and what they run on that block that would be AWESOME since that is my main point of where most changes need to be made. I am having to join the 2.5 MPI one in to my existing system and want to be able to cut and splice what needs to be or even move there location on the junction block. Thanks guys Cole
