I wouldnt be worried about a ford axle as far as company goes IIRC they had the danas in some stuff to. Also they are good quality and a plenty plus strong. I would consider this option iif i were you no matter if your a chevy, chrysler, jeep, dodge, or FORD hater or lover. I know how those things are but all of the big 3 have had there creations and cars and trucks that shouldve been scrapped off the show room floor. Just my 2 Pennys in the jug Cole

Welcome, glad to see the SC crowd growing alittle......didnt see were your located in SC? Cole

here's a crappy one. This is 33s with my fenders cut and a little more than 7"s lift. Cole
-
Ford 8.8 for the axle and a d44 for the front would work. Also I am running 7"+ lift and i run 35s with a little trimming (well quite a bit in the front). I also have the stock rear for now with 4.10s but it hasnt broke and i had it threw tellico and did good with no breakage so if you don't have the money at first you could be ok but i wouldnt chance it. Especially since your going to have to do alot of work to SOA anyways might as well do it once ;) Also i have 3 spares so i am not to worried if it breaks. Cole

Ez-locker or powertrac no-slip???
JOMJ87 replied to RandysMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I hate my lockrite in the rear of my MJ but i drive on the street alot. And your right it doesnt ratchet through turns and if it does it slips and slams everything in the driveline. I am even considering pulling it out of the rear of mine. I am running 35s with my d35 and have had no issues with breakage YET but I'm sure i will. Just my 2cents for ya. But it works great in the front for me since i have the Vac disco with a homemade posi lock system. ;) Cole -
Differences between 90 & 92 Comanches
JOMJ87 replied to SomeNew Name's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This is coming from the guy that has his bed so full on trips a 2 liter bottle can't fit :jump: :rotfl2: :teehee: Just kidding with ya Pete but yeah it sounds like the perfect exuse to build a truggy. Cole -
Got any specs on your MJs? Are they just DDs or is one for offroad? can't wait for pics. If you need help putting up pics let us know. Cole

You could even surf the jeep sites and find parts and peices to make a bastard kit if you wanted. That way you can get the parts you like from each brand. :brows: Cole

Oh thats one i missed but here is the solution. Take the old ubolt plate where the shock mounts are now and change side with it and flip it upside down and on the top. Worked great with mine but you may want something different. Cole

First off welcome to the addiction. If by platform you mean the perch yes it has to be cut and moved to the top but do not reuse the old, buy new. You can get them for like 8 bucks from the stealership. I have done this on mine and it wasnt as simple as just flipping the axle under. I had to extend my D-shaft and make a drop bracket for the E-brake and extend brake lines. Also i made a leaf pack out of some i had laying around but if your stockers are in good shape you should be OK unless you plan to hual alot. A few others have done this and I'm sure i missed something so they will chime in and help you out even more. I don't have pics right now but if you tell me exactly what you want some of i can take some. There also might be a write up in the project section i think i remember someone doing one. EDIT: and we do not tend to castrate newbies like some other sites you might be a member of. Just read the rules and you will see. ;) Cole

Help... it won't start, and I can't figure out why!
JOMJ87 replied to Boiler74's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It works just like the gasoline dryer. It will take all the water out of your gas. You ONLY use about Half a Shot glass full (so 2-3 Cap fulls) of the purest you can find. Do not pour a whole bottle cause you will be replaceing plugs and a few other things cause it will cook the ends of the spark plugs and they will turn super white. I have done this several times but as Pete said you can buy the gasoline dryer stuff at the auto parts if you don't feel comfortable doing the alcohol. Good Luck Cole -

If you add stabil to the tank upon refueling and about half a shot glass of the highest powered rubbing alcohol to the tank the water will not be an issue anymore plus it will stabilize any left over fuel. did this with mine when i first got it and it had 3yr old gas and it ran on it till i filled up. :brows: Cole -
He said MOST of the info came from chrysler and thats where i think he messed up mostly the earlier info should have come from someone who really knows Jeep cause if you look at the new models odviously Chrysler don't know anything about the history IMO. Or they just don't care and thats where the problem lies. Hell they probably are the ones that really spelled comanche wrong anyways. :shake: Cole

Yeah a locker is huge offraod the difference is amazing. I have a cheap lockrite but it does ok but when i get the money i hoping for an ARB since i already have OBA. The lockrite is kinda bothersome on raod cause sometimes it don't slip corectly and jars everything i have even debated taking it out and selling it but hopefully ill get an 8.8 soon so i think ill hold out. OH yeah back on topic sounds like the bearing issue to me to just do everything at one time to save tearing it down over and over agian. ;) :brows: Cole

see then i think its worth the hundred like said above the tires are more expensive then that if you wanted to make your money back and part it out. by the way get some pics :needpics: Cole

Another project idea Question On coilovers
JOMJ87 replied to JOMJ87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hers a flex pic that i have but i feel like it should do better. My shocks did not max out so maybe it is the shackles. My leaf pack is a bastard pack i made from the stock one and some my dad had that were thinner than the stock ones with a tad more arch so it gave me a little bit of lift to. It will stuff till my 35s are about 1/4" from touching the top of the stock flare but my buddies Yj with leaves all the way around which shouldnt flex as well can almost do as good as mine up the ramp. here is the other side i think it should be able to droop more than it is. :dunno: what do you think Maybe I'm getting to picky since i am happy with it the way it is now except for the flex. I love not haveing to worry about the leaves so i may look into the shackle thing. Has anyone on here ran revolvers or had friends that did? If so what do you think? Cole -
Heck if the body is decent enough you could go ahead and do A 4.0 swap but the 86s will have clearance issues IIRC but i think a few have done it. Plus all the wires are pull so you have to put a new harness in neways. 8) Cole
-
Got mine for ahundred and it was alot of work but if it keeps it alive thats great. Also you will have a parts truck if you get another Mj to go with it with the money you save. :brows: Go for it and post up pics and all the specs when you get but look good for rust on the floorboards and rear fenders.Good luck to you and your purchase. Keep us informed Cole
-
What motor and trans? Is it 4x4? was the complete wiring harness pulled if so it can be a pain to replace cause doing wiring sucks on anything. How much is he asking for it if you don't mind caus ethat may play a role in if its worth it or not. Good luck. Cole
-
I thought it was exactly the same as the MJ ones but i wasnt sure. My grandpa gave it to my of his ranger cause he didnt need it ne more. It can stock with the truck. Cole

have you pulled the injectors to see if they r good. I knwo you tried most of the others but if fuel is getting to the rail and it fires with starter fluid then maybe fuel isnt reacing the injectors or coming out incorectly. Cole -
Another project idea Question On coilovers
JOMJ87 replied to JOMJ87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well the revolver were another idea in the past that i was talked out of. It was one of the first ideas i acctually had after the lift was done. But people say they suck on steep inclines and under hard braking on the road. Yeah i am looking for better Flex cause i think there is alot more potential out of my MJ that i can't get due to it not flexing as well as i hoped in the rear. This is the only reasong i concidered doing anything with my rear setup. If you recall awhile back i was looking at doing a 1/4 eliptical setup but after alot of horror stories i backed out of it so this is the next option i thought of. :dunno: Maybe i am just wanting to much from the MJ but i love lots of flex. :brows: Cole -
I used one fromma ranger and it mounts to the wells to and looks good. here's a pic Hope this helps. You can see the mounts in the bed and i think thats kinda how the stockers are. Cole
