  1. Well i had a deal on some chromoly ones with the good ujoints. I now see where you are coming from and i will think this thru but i just want to know first if they even make them cause i sure can't find them. Cole
  2. I have a lockrite but i don't like it. I may stick with it but i like mini spools cause there is no chance of slippage plus if i do the posi lock idea with the vacuum switch then i can control when it is both or single wheel. I undersrand the weakness of the carrier and such but when a lockrite is locked it locked as though it was a spool correct??? anyway I feel either of them are much stronger then the axle itself its just i don't like the lockrites ability to slip then rengage.   3. Do they make one for a D30??? If they do give me a site cause i can't find it. I want on efor my MJ but i have searched for over an hour and can't find one. Please pleas let me know if you have4 any luck. If not how strong is it when you weld spider gears or can you make somehting for the axle that will act as though its a spool. Thanks Cole
  4. Ok i just wanted to see if anyone has ever made or thought of making there on diff protection. I have looked at many designs and found some i like but i don't see paying $100 bucks if i can make it. Plus its more fun if i make it. I want something for my D30 since its the most likely to be smacked AGAIN so lets see them ideas flow........ Cole

  6. I know of a guy that looked at doing the sleeve idea with a Yj but the prob is finding the right tubing with the right Inside diameter so it fit snugly on the stock set up. He finnally back out and is fabbing one up. I am going to Build one from scrtch and go OTK for a high steer kinda approach. You can buy these inserts that all you do is drill a regular hole and then slap the insert in it and its ready to go. I don't know how much i would trust them but they seemed like they would work well. Cole

    What Radio to Buy?

    I have a DEH model pioneer and have had it for 4 years and no issues. It was the second up from bottom and was only $115 and its the best cd player ive ever owned and they sell them at Wal-Mart. :D Cole
  9. I just want one so i can use a Mini spool or full spool and then use the Vac switch to regulate when I want it to be both. I have a lockrite but i am thinking of selling it cause i like the idea of a spool better. I tried searching on the internet for one that might work but had no luck. And MJeff87 if you get one PM me and i can paypal you for it. And that goes for anyone else with one. I hope that link helps with the hook up for those who didnt qhite understand Mjeffs idea.   11. They only issue you might have with the rear is if you remove the gears to put it in your axle the gears will not be to happy. They have broke in while in that housing so they get a wear pattern only that axle produces so if you swap housings they may blow up quick. I would just swap complete axle assemblys out cause that is easy as takeing bolts out. ANyway it will be out in july and i will let you know. Cole
  12. Well in high school right before i got my liciense I'm talking a week before I broke my leg and exploded my axle at wrestling practice. My MJ is stick and the only thing i had to drive but i had a boot thing on my left leg for 9 months :eek: Luckily my Dad was nice enough to let me drive the Extera for my test and then around when i needed to go do something but once i got to be able to move i drove the MJ with the boot and all. Only a few times did i get stuck under the dash pushing the clutch down :oops: But then i learned to use my Crutch to push it in and out and also how to shift with out a clutch so it got easier. Kinda sounds dangerous but I never had any other probs. Cole
  13. I have a 35 with 4.10s and a Lockrite that will be up for sale soon but its in SC. Plus if you had a D30 that has 3.73 in it or whatever the carrier break is so i can put 4.88s in it we could work something out I'm sure. ;) :brows: Just an idea Cole
  14. I have heard that the 10* mark is the one for our trucks. I think thats what mine messured to once i done it. Thats what I'm setting my 44 at when it goes in. Cole
  15. Ok 1987 2.5 AX4 and 31s took of and grabbed 2nd a few times then pulled out on the pavement 2 hours later and it chattered. Ended up that the PUMPKIN yes i said Pumpkin SPUN on the axle tubes :eek: to where the ujoint on the D-shaft was smacking itself on rotation. I was in high school i have learned my lesson :oops: Cole
  16. Even though I can't see Pete's picture i remember My bastard pack deal and that was the one with the most arch without weight on it. I would consider if i were you finding a leaf pack with thinner and more arched leaves and throw a few of them in the mix. Pete has also made packs from several diff ones so he could give you some great donors. As i had the springs laying around and didn't know what they came off of. Hope you get her fixed Cole
  17. Has it been offroad alot?? I ask because that is usally a weak spot due to the force of turning in tight spots on a trail. Just be careful welding the unibody cause it don't like it if done wrong. If you search on here i put up a link awhile ago about Unibody welding. Someone may have it or try searching on yahoo for the "unibody welding bible its a really good write up. Hope this helps Cole
  18. Sooooo Anything to report????? I am anxious to see how this goes. Where did you get a harness?? I am worried about that portion of the swap since it from a YJ not a XJ/MJ but i think it could work if not I will be on the hunt for something that will. Just thought i would check in and once you get this done and i get back maybe we can hit gulches after i finish mine. I will be planning a trip there around Sept (birthday present) or so. I got at least one othe MJ a YJ and TJ interested so far. Anyway thats not for awhile. I thought i would see if you had started the build. Cole
  19. It would work but you may want to ritm it a little so that when it flexs its not slipping over the edge of the other but I don't see a big issue with it. Cole
  20. What do you mean the interior harness. I was under the impression that the only wires and such i have to touch is the engine harness and the ECU itself. I thought the other stuff could remain stock MJ and it would work. So am I wrong??? Cole
  21. If you do point the pinion at the Tcase output and don't have a double crdon or SYE it will destroy one of the ujoints on one of the end quickly. And that is a great pic of a SYE D Shaft Cole

From what it sounds to me is you are going to run this truck on the track some and if that is so I would do the 8.8 cause I know from experience that the turdy5 can't take you poping the clutch and spinning the tires to much. I spun the pumpkin yes just the pumpkin on the axle tubes with a 2.5 liter that is worn out in high school. So upgrade if you play or run it down a strip. Cole

  24. Take a degree finder and check the degree at the Transfer case output and then do the same on the axles Pinion. OR you can take the old axle and make the pinion level to the ground and then take and messure the degree on the perches. IIRC 10-11 is about right though I'm sure someone Knows for sure. Cole
  25. Yeah I got shrink tube and a solder gun and such I used to wire car stereos up before The military so the wiring shouldnt be an issue. Also I have may nieghbor go look at the truck and compare wire possitions and such so I should hear back from him so that I know the areas of concern. Also Could I find a 91-92 MJ with a 2.5 and it be the MPI i think it should but couldnt i take that harness and ecu and it work right in mine???? Just a thought I may try that if it will work Cause then i know it will fit correctly. Cole
