This is not a bad idea piecing together, I'm hoping some parts can be salvaged. I did like the ride I had, firm but not too hard on edges. I see in your profile you have a 'bumping system'. What did you have? Mine was stolen a few years ago during Covid, I miss it dearly and want to put one in better. I had an old Kicker Solobaric that did well and moved a lot of air, but they do not sell that model anymore, so I feel like I'm starting over.

Two weeks ago, a septuagenarian totaled my '89. Still working with insurance, but also planning ahead. I have a Skyjacker 3" lift with disconnects I installed it in 2004, but I do not see if offered today? Did they discontinue it? Sites I go to only go back to '91 and no Comanche's. In case it is discontinued, what are the general recommendations these days for mild lifts and a good ride?

Is it best to open up with the firehose or do a slow build into a raging inferno? I've been told its okay to be 'That guy' in this case....just coming up with a game plan.

I fear my Comanche was totaled last week, it is pending insurance review currently. Has anyone else had to do this recently and have any advice? I'm trying my best to determine market value, but finding a bit more uncertain with a classic. For reference, I have an 89 Pioneer 4x4 long bed, regeared axels, Detroit rear end, custom bumper, lifted and recently painted in 2022.

Relatively cheap tie rod upgrade
War_Pony89 replied to Incommando's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
After 325K my steering is not safe anymore, I'm going with the ZJ drag link mentioned in this article. I did not see mention of the Tie Rod, is the stock OEM okay with the ZJ drag link, or is it a good idea to get both ZJ drag link and Tie Rod? Sounds like any year ZJ drag ling is compatible? -
91 HO Shut Off While Driving
War_Pony89 replied to kryptronic's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
After supper, put the clutch knob unit into the cup, this time, and had pressure on the clutch! Drove until warmed and shut off to retest. Started! so Think I nipped this issue of not starting after warmed. Thank you to y'all who chimed in before and recently. -
91 HO Shut Off While Driving
War_Pony89 replied to kryptronic's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Okay, appreciate the reassurance, I may try a zip tie on the boot to give it a bit more staying power. Rubber is not as spry as it once was. Was thinking I should just give it a go since I've got everything cleaned and primed with oil. -
In uncharted territory, removed slave to fix something else. Pressure inside the unit blew the piston out the end. Problem is I don't know what should be there on the to hold the spring tension where it is covered by the boot. Looks to me there should be something, but I can't find any parts or schematics on this thing. It's from Advance Adapters, and I guess I need to buy a new unit? Hoping someone has some experience to provide some guidance if it can be fixed?

91 HO Shut Off While Driving
War_Pony89 replied to kryptronic's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
CPS is replaced, took 2.5 hrs. Ended up taking off the cross member and lowering the drivetrain 2 inches to make room. Question for anyone, I removed my external slave cylinder to have room to swing the ratchet.I put it in and had no clutch pressure. When I pulled it off again the slave cylinder exploded. Is there an end cap on the end under the dust boot? Seems like there should be and I think its in the bell housing? Can anyone confirm this? -
91 HO Shut Off While Driving
War_Pony89 replied to kryptronic's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
AC, Hope your project is progressing, i found it is not the fuel pump installed last year. Working great, PSI checks out. However on the Cherokee forum and I think here I saw it too. If the CPS is going out, it will cut off the spark to the coil and distributor. I can start mine when cold, Ohms check out, but when the warmed , I can't restart. At least that is my guess, cause ohms when warm is zero. So replacing my Crankshaft PS and will post updates, once I find my 1/2 to 3/8 adapter. -
91 HO Shut Off While Driving

Acfortier, I'm feeling your angst. Most of what has been said started happening two days ago out of the blue. Idling while figuring out if soccer practice got cancelled, it just died. Started next day, when I went back first crank. I found same thing, let sit, starts up. Has not died while driving but today after getting gas and going to walgreens would crank but not start. I had noticed upon my first re-start the fuel pump was noticeable. When It died at the soccer field, I let pressure out of the line a couple times to make sure not a fuel pump. However, I did not recall hearing it prime again at that time. After cranking for few minutes, no fuel in the exhaust smell either which seemed odd given the number of cranks I put it through. I know there is a lot of grounds to check, which I cleaned all last year when I replace the fuel pump with the Bosch unit. I'm going to chase the fuel presser pump issue first thing I get it back home. Anyway, thanks y'all for contributing, I have my list from the article to go through. -
Manual window regulator fix
War_Pony89 replied to 70barracuda's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Barracuda, How'd you end up sorting this out. Looking for manual regulators and seems like everything new is electric. Little nervous 'bout pick'n up a used one with stripped worm gear, and that 'cash for clunkers' idea is really hurting finding used parts where I live. -
Decision assistance: Leave original or upgrade?
War_Pony89 replied to YakubS's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm doing resto work on mine, albeit slowly, Since my Renix is running good, its the last thing I plan to touch. AX 15 is a good idea, my BA10 crapped out around 204K, so needed upgrade, while its out good time to do axles. Head unit sounds cool, I'd just be concerned about fit and having to modify for a touch screen. That may be harder to undo as parts getting scarcer. Anyway, I fixed what was broke then focused on the body, even found the stock decals to keep it period correct. I've thought about buckets, but bench is more practical so kept it, for when I have to carry kids around. So like Jdog said, suit your needs. -
Got my order in

Y'all left me inspired, ordered my carpet, inner fenders and rugged ridge floor mats today. Found my leak up front, antenna plug is pushed out, think that is my main leak cause, so green light finishing the interior! Now just need a nice warm sunny day to lay the carpet, which are in short supply as of late.

Someone had too much time on their hands. That thing looks super loud and hot inside. Probably have to roll your windows up at stop lights, bees might come in.

Anyone want to volunteer to try some free visor clips?
War_Pony89 replied to m2bandit's topic in The Pub
Sounds good, keep me posted for a pair. My driver side is fitting a bit loose these days and visor falls down about half way with widow down on the highway. Not sure if the visor or the clip is the culprit, but thought I'd mention for the design. -

Man, i was just looking for some. While changing out my headliner, I dropped one when trying to screw it in and the dang thing broke in two when it landed on the transmission tunnel. Junk yards around here are bare, not even an XJ to be found. Will they be color coded for factory interiors?
