So, it looks like I made a liar out of myself. It is up for sale now, as I can't afford to keep it around and need a good winter vehicle. All is not lost though, as when/if I get another MJ, I'll continue with the MJ15 theme.

My Carolina Panthers are doing pretty good this year. 3-1 so far.

If you're looking for front bumpers, the XJ ones are a direct fit. The rear one has to be either MJ specific, or custom made (either the whole bumper, or modifying the bracketry to fit).

Akula, I've had this same problem with my '88 for many years now. I still haven't found a cause or cure for it. Granted, I haven't had time or money to look it over, I just figured that as long as the signals still work outside, there was no need to look into it.

Question about seafoam Need kind of fast
beaterjeep replied to fatcat0491's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Since this is brought up, and I'm a master thread jacker and all; I've always put half a can of seafoam in the gas tank and put the other half of it right into the oil. Is that a good idea or a bad idea? -
http://jeep.avtograd.ru/VIN/vin_en.asp Shows as an '88 if ya put the VIN into there.

Possible short somewhere along the wiring? Sorry, that's all I can think of at this time.

I happened to notice I was asked about, so instead of hi-jacking that thread, I'll make this one. Yes, I haven't been feeling the best lately; I'll get to that in a bit though. First off, I had my motherboard on my computer fry about a month ago, so was without internet for a couple weeks. A neighbor of mine is letting me borrow his tower to get me by. Problem is, he wants it back next Saturday. Then, to top everything off, on Sunday (the 10th) I woke up about 5:30am to sever back spasms to the extent that I couldn't feel or move my legs. I had to call for an ambulance to come get me, it was that bad. On the way to the ER, they started me on an IV, and when I got to the ER (5 minute or so drive) they started me on a dose of dantrium through said IV, and gave me 10mg of valium. This continued until the spasms finally resided. I was held in observation until they felt comfortable enough with my stability in standing and walking. Finally around 1:45pm I was released. I was sent home with a continual dose of 10mg of valium every 4-6 hours for a 10 day span. Since then, I've been staying home, getting a LOT of sleep, staying off my feet as much as possible, and all around feeling like he!!. Now with jeepco coming here next weekend, I have to attempt to clean the utter chaos and disaster area that has ensued in my apt before he gets here. All while battling through the valium, and the thoughts of "what if the spasms come back again?". So, in short, yea, I'm still around, still battling major gremlins on Baby, as her wiring has developed even more problems than I can shake a stick at, and for the most part; aside from my back; in good health.

Brent, you have a very valid point; can't necessarily call it bad luck when I've been aware of it for some time now. And, thank you, I'm glad I or anyone else wasn't hurt as well. Willy, I full well admit irresponsibility, hence why I started out the original post as I did. I've learned many years ago about responsibility and the consequences of trying to be above it; it rarely works out correctly. But when you only get $650 a MONTH to live off of, some things have NO CHOICE but to be put on the back burner until it can be afforded to be fixed. Pat, thanks to you as well. Without your help so far, I wouldn't even have an MJ to drive at all. Now, for an update. I have Baby back at home, but am only going to be using her for extreme emergencies and only if the trip is very short. We took a BFH to the caliper and the rotor and were able to break it loose enough to spin. I took it for a short run up to about 25 mph (off of any roads, so I don't wanna hear about irresponsibility on that one) and it grinds all the time now. I didn't dare use the brakes, so I was downshifting and letting the tranny/motor be the brakes.

Let me start off this way; I've known for the past almost 2 months that I need new front brakes on Baby. The left front has been grinding when taking left hand corners as well as when braking. Today I had to make the about 45 minute (mostly country roads) drive to my uncle's house for my lil cousin's birthday party. I get about half way there, when I come up on a 35 mph right hand curve. Shift into neutral, start to hit the brakes a lil bit to slow down enough, they don't grind. At this point, the only thought I had was "Oh great, this isn't right; I'm not gonna make it there." Half way into the corner, the left front wheel LOCKED UP! It shot me clear cross the road (across oncoming traffic (good thing no one was there)), and I ended up with the back half still in the road. Called my mom at the party to talk to her b/f to see if he could come get me. He goes back to his place to get his truck, and borrows a friends trailer, and gets back to me and Baby. Look it over after we skid it onto the trailer, and the pad welded itself to the rotor from the heat. So, I am now MJless for the time being, and will have absolutely no money to make the badlands trip. I swear I'm just bad luck to everyone, since I was with Jeepco when his wheel fell off. Maybe it's for the better that I won't be at the badlands.[/rant]

Yes, it was the 3800 that went out. I'll let Jeepco explain it all better, but it's not good.

More progress to be done over the winter. Let's just say she won't be looking the same when she rolls out in the spring. Don't worry though, you'll all get semi-updates and teaser pics at the very least.

Project "Eliminator"
beaterjeep replied to 89eliminator's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Got that bumper fixed yet? We're running on only having a lil over 3 weeks left. -
Won't be much longer and you all will be seeing a whole new MJ15. Much different than it looks in them last pics is all I can say. :brows:

Can someone whose extremely bored photochop ma truck?
beaterjeep replied to chicofuentes0224's topic in The Pub
Sorry for the late response, a lot of things going on lately. I couldn't tell ya what color orange that is, I just slightly modified what was available to me in MS paint. It takes a long time when ya go pixel by pixel with the pencil tool in 800% zoom. -
Probably not much help, but red and yellow are your constant and switched power wires, and as you know, black is ground. I just hook them 3 up, then power the deck up, switch the balance and fader to say, the left rear speaker, and just go nuts touching wires together until that speaker works. Then switch the deck to a different speaker and repeat.

How do you remove the side vents?
beaterjeep replied to mknherhappy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just pull them right off, and pop them back on. -

Here's an idea for ya; just one of my many different ones done in paint. :brows: -
Hey, that's pretty slick, but wouldn't it make more sense to have the CB up top and the stereo in the middle? I'm sure it'd make getting CD's out just a bit easier. How ya gonna keep everything in place though? Just screw it all? Think we could do that to the MJ15 too? Am I asking too many questions? Would you like me to ask more? Would you like me to stop now? What exactly is this "surprise" you claim you have for me? Or can you not tell me? Would you tell me if I guessed it? I'm very tired right now, can you tell? Can I finish this post off with a question? Did you know the grille is off?

Time for some new pics. :brows: NOT GOOD!!
