  1. I'm sure those used to be common. I would guess if we knew where you are, there is probably a member that could help you out. I have a set of the stock aluminum 5 Star wheels that I will eventually sell, but aren't actively on the market. Are you specifically looking for that original equipment wheel?
  2. He's right, do this. Or another member here will. Like me...
  3. https://portland.craigslist.org/clk/cto/d/vancouver-jeep-comanche/7284886156.html Added yesterday, pretty nice but plain base model.
  4. I'm not sure what you are asking. Do you want to buy a new axle already set up to bolt in, or are you looking for a local shop to do the work? There are several "boutique" shops that make new custom axles, but you are looking at $3000 to $6000. Like PeteM says, a newer axle can be adapted, and its reasonable to use your existing axle, with upgraded gears for your intended tire size. I would bet you could get by just fine just lifting your Comanche, installing 31" tires, driving hit for a year and figuring out what you want to do then. No need to rush into spending a bunch of money. The easiest way to make it ride "smoother" is to add several bags of sand to the bed.
  5. What size are they? On my rwd, 245/75-R16s rub, but the 235/75-R15s didn't.
  6. I can't read the top plate. Does it say 231 C? As in Chevrolet?
  7. I'm not sure which wheel you are talking about, the first one or the second one in these photos?
  8. Sometimes it just works out that way. Pretty disheartening when it does. It has happened to all of us, you'll get through it.
  9. For now. Every problem is fixable with a little work.
  10. Cool. I have tried to find the original owner of mine, I suspect he is no longer with us.
  11. For stuff that's not quite at the pitted stage, Ospho works pretty good. Clean all the loose stuff up with a wire brush, I prefer a cup wheel on my big Skil angle grinder. Lower speed and more weight than a modern 4 1/2 inch. Then paint on Oslo with a brush, let it work it's magic and cure, then a quality primer and paint.
  12. @1987Comanche As I read your report from your alignment, it looks like it's still adjusted to a slight toe out? I am pretty sure slight toe in is preferred. You can adjust toe yourself, pretty easily. I would bet if you adjusted so you have about 1/8" of difference between you measurement at the front of your tire and the rear of the tire, you would see an improvement. With an inverted Y steering setup, you need to adjust both the drag link and tie rod, and the tie rod will need to be adjusted twice what the drag link is adjusted. I would start with shortening your drag link 1/4 turn, and the drag link 1/2 a turn.
  13. With a 350, you could be pretty flexible. I would choose 3.73, but 4.10 wouldn't over rev it with an overdrive. Really depends on tire size, and I don't think I saw that anywhere.
  14. Nice Job. Most people don't realize the effort that went into that.
  15. @fiatslug87 VIN is posted, and thanks @eaglescout526 for posting the build sheet so quickly To me it reads like a fairly highly optioned truck.

  17. Anything comp!ex like that, they recommend you check and tighten bolts periodically. My first thought is track bar bracket, or control arm mounts.
  18. Affirmative. She lives part time at our house, but up until she was 4 1/2 lived here full time. Now, her two younger sisters and Mom are here full time. She has arranged a cousin's weekend, with two other grandkids. Grandma thinks it's great, she works weekends... Bet we get by just fine.
  19. That's my plan. Probably won't be Saturday, looks like my granddaughter has hijacked my schedule.
  20. A backer really helps. I got mine at Harbor Freight, but i don't think they carry them any more. Amazon has them for about $40, I think I paid just under $10.
  21. I may point that out, I am going to try to go see it this weekend. But I have my tertiary appointments secretary (9 year old granddaughter) trying to make other plans for me this weekend. I may be playing chauffeur for 4 of my grandkids.
  22. I think there are 20 posted in the first post in this thread. Maybe they are linked, too.
  23. I was thinking it was undercoating of some kind on the rockers. Underneath looks pretty clean, but if it stays in Nahcotta long, it won't be. Here's the pic of the spare that made me think it was an original Eliminator wheel. with a worn out Goodyear Wrangler AT, if I don't miss my guess.
  24. Yes, Jesse, I am going to look at it. I need it like I need another hole in my head. If I get it, I will probably have clear a couple of other things out. I can accomplish part of that pretty simply, drive the son's Cherokee to his house. Probably have to promise to dump the CJ-10 project hulk, maybe the CJ-5. Or get the barn built, so I could move them into the "Shop" full of hay and stalls... I thought it was a 10 hole Eliminator wheel, too. It does have the craptastic D-35. I do have a Cherokar 8.25 with 3.55 gears, so that would be an easy swap. And an 8.8 with 3.55 gears. I think I have a narrow track FSJ D44 in storage, too. But that would be 6 lug, and as I remember, it's 3.31.
  25. I'm curious on @Minuit's and other people's take, a lot of other people eyes for Comanche's are far better than mine.
