88 comanche pioneer 2wd to 4wd swap
1tonMJ replied to 88wickedmj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
What kind of a place could do this job typically? -
I don't think it would float very well. ;) It is awesome though. Add some Styrofoam or something to make it sink proof. I'd take it across my lake.

I don't get excited by much new stuff nowadays. If I can't afford, I am just window shopping. I ain't going to break the bank to get some new gadget. Hell, I play Perfect Dark on the N64, and my PS2 has been a San Andreas machine for like 6 years. I only have like 3 other games. Personally, I am stuck in the 80's. 80's trucks, cars, tools, cool stuff.

A few questions on MJ conversions
1tonMJ replied to Timmmmmy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
30's will fit with stock height. 30"s and a 3" lift will look kind of silly. Get some 35"s. :brows: -
30's, how much fender trim to fit?
1tonMJ replied to 1tonMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
OK. I set them up next to the old wheels, they look like they hit the fender, but I understand that they will pick up the axle itself a little bit. Just trying to get my ducks in a row. :wrench: -
88 MJ. 2wd. No lift, I got 30's that *might* fit with no trimming, but I suspect I will have to trim 1-2" of fender. Any one know the exact measurement of metal i have to remove? I would like to cut once, if possible. ANNNND When all is said and done, how do I measure for new flares?

1tonMJ replied to cz777's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just had this problem, I got a new idler pulley, a new belt in. Still squealed. Sprayed some Armorall, it doesn't make a peep. -
I have personally taken a Liberty up a nasty muddy logging trail. I have also gotten the bugger really stuck. :D

Comanche cargo light with switch $50
1tonMJ replied to Fezzik's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Yeah, give me a price. Don't want to rip ya'll off. Send me a PM, as I don't check past posts too often. Any interest in more parts? There is an MJ in the local JY, I'll go strip parts... -
Turned out I needed new front shocks. Hard to determine while not moving. Mechanic put new shocks, a new idler pulley (killed the squealing, THANK GOD), and new lug nuts :D. Now I just gotta paint those chrome things so they match the rest of the truck. :ack:  Took the truck out on the expressway, got it up to 65, damn, I haven't gone that fast in the Manche in months.

Before I go to boot camp...
1tonMJ replied to Paul Bruchal's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Which service? You won't see that truck or do a damn thing to it, for the next year. -
I had the exact same problem. 0-45, not even a shimmy. 46+ was practically out of control. For me, my track bar was beyond bad. One new track bar and tire balancing later, smooth as butter. I was lucky, though. For others, it seems to be a much more complicated, aggravating problem. I will pass this along to the mechanic. I would try to tackle it at home, but I have a habit of getting things apart, then not getting them back together. :D

Mud wasn't the problem. Truck is at the shop, we shall see what the problems is. And why the shaky eyes? I am an excellent driver, gov't trained on bigger vehicles than my Comanche. i know what to do in a crash, all I said was I was prepared for what might happened. Why is being prepared make me an idiot? Do you know how to test a truck at speed without being at speed? If so, do share. :shake:

88 MJ, 2wd, 4.0, pigeon$#!& tranny, all stock. Got the death wobble all of a sudden a while back, found I couldn't go over 45mph. So today it seems worse, so I suck it up and go to the mechanic. He pulls the tires, wiggles, pokes, prods, slaps the tires back on and proclaims it is probably the MUD in the back of the rims. Is this possible? I went home and took them off, wash and scraped the dirt out, and I am now going for a ride to see if I can get it to 55. Lately, anything over 46-47 would induce massive shaking. 45 rides like a dream. It's only when I go faster, and if I slow down, it stops at 45. I will report back, even if I crash. This will be a test run, I am prepared for the situation that might happen. Be back in a few.

1989 jeep comanche proportioning valve help
1tonMJ replied to bthomps875's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you can't decipher that, you need to take an inet class. He's asking how to run brake lines and how to run them with the proportioning valve. -
