I have an 88 MJ that the steering column is Fu****. I have a 2001 XJ column to put in. I need a list of what wire does what in the MJ going up to the steering column, and a list of the same on the 2001 XJ column. New coulmn only has key, turn signals (with brights), and wiper speed and spray on the other side, and hazard. I know I won't need half of the wires, question is which ones do I need? In the plug coming off of the key, I applied power to the red one, and there is power going through the black and white wire, and the blue wire. Turning the key to start gives me power to the yellow, so I know what I will do with those. I need to figure out how to apply power to the turn signals and the wiper switch, but the wire combos I have tried haven't worked thus far. here's pics: Disabling the airbag: And the red, yellow, back and white, and blue: Ignition: Wiper switch: Turn signals: Mystery plug: The whole shebang and my test setup:

It does ride a little stiff but it is breaking in nicely. I'll be wheeling it soon. Onroad manners are pretty decent.

WHOOPS so I have been speeding like crazy for 2 years. I always do exactly 35, 45, 55, means I am ALWAYS speeding. Havent got a ticket for that yet though. -
I am in TN now, but I bought my truck when still in NY. First registration was $180, due to the price, and the re-reg was $75, after 2 years.

Well, sure, after a few months. Redo it every spring. Take a day and paint. -
I would like to try this, but I was thinking of using that hard plastic material they use for cutting boards. Proper length bolts with nuts and washers, and sleeves to keep the distance. I think it would look real good with the Fusion paint. However, does anyone else notice how well a cup or bottle stays if tucked into the passenger side curve of the seat? My big @$$ coffee cup almost never moves, only during extreme maneuvers.

Adjustable MJ Load Sensing Valve
1tonMJ replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
I just lifted my Comanche, and the Zone instructions call for flipping that bracket on the axle. Well of course I snapped the ball fitting. I drilled out the hole a bit and used a concrete stud, with a nut threaded on and the plate sandwiched between a lock nut. It was a little bigger than the ball stud, but it seems to fit on there OK, and when it breaks, I'll do something like Hornbrod's link. -
Yet Another Money Pit... (Pics Be Warned!)

You can use a delete plate to cover the hole and use a long side D30 axle shaft to fix the disconnect issue. Otherwise you are right on the D30. Definitely get the shaft at a JY. -
Next item to tackle after my funds recover: Bore it out to 5.0?

Hello all. I have been a member here for a few years, mostly reading and posting newb replies. I bought an 88 Comanche Pioneer 4 years ago and slowly have built it up. Most of it happened in NY, I moved to TN 1 month ago and have gotten a lot more done. It started out as a 4.0/Peugeot **** box/2wd. This is how it was before I bought it: I sanded painted it OD Green: Result: I drove it for a year and a half like than before the Peugeot started grinding, So I found an AX-15/NP231/Dana 30 for the front and had a transmission shop install the tranny and transfer case (which I had left together). I installed the axle. A year after that I put 30's on it. I moved to TN a month ago, and when I got here I ordered the Zone 4.5" lift kit for the COmanche, and started install last week. As of right now I am repairing the rear brakes lines as they cracked whilst moving them, I have to install the trans case drop included with the kit, then its off to the alignment shop.

So I've been in TN for about 3 weeks and the only thing I am pissed about is not coming here sooner. I found a job in 4 days and it turned out to be a real chill cook job. I have met about 5 people that I mean to stay in contact with, and plan on going to an offroad park soon.I have already taken a few great rides through the Smokies. I ordered Zone's 4.5 lift kit, painted it Krylon Pumpkin Oranges, and bought a set of 35" hankook something or other tires. I will start the install as soon as the weather is going to be warm for a few days. Who is down for a meet and greet? Or beer and fire at my house. Plenty of spots to crash, bring a tent.
