picked up a box set from harbor freight today. one in the set was super close, just had to file the slot where they sit slightly and worked perfect.

Do you have it? And are they easy to find? I'm debating buying like a variety box and just seeing what will work.

Anyone got a lead on replacement retainers for the rear trim right below the back window? The crown ones are out of stock everywhere.

Definitely don't do it with high humidity and heat. On some videos people said they got about a minute before it tacked up. I had about 15 seconds so the paint didn't fully settle and you can see the marks from wiping. I gotta redo it when it gets cooler. But even then it still looks killer. Other than that it was super easy. Wash it with their soap and a scrubby pad, grease remover, clear, dry in 24 hours.

I'll be there this year but just for the Saturday.

So I finally got around to clear coating the truck. Man I wish I did it sooner because it looks fantastic. It's poppy's patina wipe on clear. I will have to redo the hood and roof as the stuff just dried way to fast in the humidity. Totally on me though but I couldn't wait until fall to get this done. I mean it took away all the faded-ness of the paint and just left some cool patina, absolutely in love with it.

Home Depot sells them. Just nylon spacers. I think they were 3/8 or 1/2 -

Got mine today. Excellent quality and super easy to install. I went the spacer route instead of a hole saw and they worked perfectly. Highly recommend these. -
Water leak in a bad spot

Hmmm I do have one of their products that's both por15 and seam sealer. Wonder if that'll work. -
Water leak in a bad spot

Ordered a bore scope for my phone, hopefully I can finagle that in there with my arm so I can see. I am a little concerned about the rust. Definitely can't get any type of wire wheel in there to clean it up. -

Can't see anything once I get my arm in there. -
After getting my windshield fixed I found another water leak. Only I cannot figure out how I'm going to get in to seal it up. It's in the cowl, buried in the corner. I tried to go up from underneath the dash but it didn't really work. Going in from underneath the cowl doesn't allow me to get all the way back. Had to fish my phone in to get a picture. Any ideas?

Got the windshield installed. Painted the channel with por15 on just the pitted spots and then hosed the whole thing in an epoxy primer. Little seam sealer on the corners but honestly the solder was in still in great shape. Installer said it was better than some body shops so I feel pretty good about it. Chrome trim on a day later and it all looks great.

Well I'm in the middle of probably one of the worst jobs I've done with this truck. Windshield was leaking and when I went to have another put in the installer found this: Not horrible but more than what I wanted to deal with. He also said there was alot of the original butyl left over so the previous windshield I got about 3 years ago was installed badly. Now it makes sense why the place was out of business... Anyway, dude was super cool and said when I get it fixed just call back for the install. I've been grinding, scraping, and wire wheeling this whole week to get this. Still a little more prep to be done, then I'm going to treat the rust with acid and use an epoxy primer. I never want to do this again.

Yeah it'll be better for sure, there was a surprising amount of scale but thankfully nothing made holes. Also alot of butyl left over. When you used seam sealer, was it the corners where the solder is?

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately having no garage means this is gonna suck for painting. It's been 40s at night and 50s during the day with nonstop rain so I'm hoping it clears up. Want to get this done asap, but also want to do a really good job.
