  1. Home Depot sells them. Just nylon spacers. I think they were 3/8 or 1/2
  2. Installed boxyjeep's speaker brackets. Very well made and super easy to install. Sounds so much better having all 4 6.5 inch speakers. Also finally found front sway bar links are fit perfectly. Just had to drill out the bracket and that was it.
  3. Got mine today. Excellent quality and super easy to install. I went the spacer route instead of a hole saw and they worked perfectly. Highly recommend these.
  4. Couldn't help myself from getting the new tail lights. I'll keep my lenses only pair for a spare. Went with the silver on this set and I absolutely love the look.
  5. Hmmm I do have one of their products that's both por15 and seam sealer. Wonder if that'll work.
  6. Ordered a bore scope for my phone, hopefully I can finagle that in there with my arm so I can see. I am a little concerned about the rust. Definitely can't get any type of wire wheel in there to clean it up.
  7. Can't see anything once I get my arm in there.
  8. After getting my windshield fixed I found another water leak. Only I cannot figure out how I'm going to get in to seal it up. It's in the cowl, buried in the corner. I tried to go up from underneath the dash but it didn't really work. Going in from underneath the cowl doesn't allow me to get all the way back. Had to fish my phone in to get a picture. Any ideas?
  9. Got the windshield installed. Painted the channel with por15 on just the pitted spots and then hosed the whole thing in an epoxy primer. Little seam sealer on the corners but honestly the solder was in still in great shape. Installer said it was better than some body shops so I feel pretty good about it. Chrome trim on a day later and it all looks great.
  10. Well I'm in the middle of probably one of the worst jobs I've done with this truck. Windshield was leaking and when I went to have another put in the installer found this: Not horrible but more than what I wanted to deal with. He also said there was alot of the original butyl left over so the previous windshield I got about 3 years ago was installed badly. Now it makes sense why the place was out of business... Anyway, dude was super cool and said when I get it fixed just call back for the install. I've been grinding, scraping, and wire wheeling this whole week to get this. Still a little more prep to be done, then I'm going to treat the rust with acid and use an epoxy primer. I never want to do this again.
  11. Yeah it'll be better for sure, there was a surprising amount of scale but thankfully nothing made holes. Also alot of butyl left over. When you used seam sealer, was it the corners where the solder is?
  12. Gotta say, this is one of the worst things I've done with this truck.
  13. Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately having no garage means this is gonna suck for painting. It's been 40s at night and 50s during the day with nonstop rain so I'm hoping it clears up. Want to get this done asap, but also want to do a really good job.
  14. I got some por15 that's specific for windshield channels so that also has seam sealer in it. Then I'm going to get this paint. Should work right?
  15. Welp definitely some problem areas. Gotta address this. The glass guy also said that the other installer had left alot of the butyl strip in the channel too. Wire wheel best method for cleaning?
  16. So I found a Windshield guy that is coming out to remove the glass for me and I'm going to take care of whatever lies underneath, then he'll come back and install a new one. What's the best method for cleaning the channel up and also what type of paint should be used.
  17. Finally got to taking the trim off and checking it out. There's no visible rust anywhere. Obviously can't see under the urethane but it seems pretty rust free. I was debating using seam sealer but don't want to fix this with a hack.
  18. I bought 2 packs originally when I got the windshield replaced before. I was shocked to find them available new. I feel like if there was even some rust in the channel the first window guys would definitely have said something so I feel like I should be okay. I hope anyway.
  19. I think the surface was okay. I do remember it being blistering cold that morning because I wanted to reschedule but they assured me it was fine. Maybe it didn't adhere fully?
  20. I tried that before on the old windshield and it didn't work. I guess I could give it a shot this time. But Ive read RTV isn't good for paint as it will eat away at it.
  21. I really want to keep the metal trim. Can it be done with the 97+ glass?
  22. So my 3 year old windshield started leaking in the upper corners. My lifetime leak warranty would come in handy if the place I got it done at didn't close up shop (starting to makes sense why mine is leaking...) Anyway, I called around to a bunch of places and was quoted around $400, and that they can only find 1 windshield in the entire area. One shop flat out refused to do it because it was "so old and a classic and his guys wouldn't know how to do it". Seems wild to me. I'd like to keep it the original because I love the chrome molding. Just is crazy to me. It's they key issue all over again where no one could cut an old key. Are these trucks just getting to the point where I need to find a legit classic car shop?
  23. I semi-polished mine. Didn't want a super mirror surface but got pretty close to what you have and i loved them. I never cleared them so they don't look this good now. Picture is from 5 ish years ago
  24. Wired up some LEDs and have them working off the factory cargo light switch. Nice and hidden until you turn them on.
  25. None whatsoever. I called the company and they had to custom make them but they didn't charge anymore than what the off the shelf units were. Honestly I think it was just a custom bushing for the leafs. But they keep the back end planted perfectly so highly recommend.
