Hood Latch Issue (NOT the Normal Problem)
grumpiebill replied to AZJeff's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Rubber hood stops on each corner? Are they there? Adjusted too high forcing you to push down to allow the latch to release? Sent from my LG-M210 using Tapatalk -

When you did the brake swap did you tear both sides down at the same time? What are the odds the axles got swapped side to side? Sent from my LG-M210 using Tapatalk -

I'm sorry I didn't take pics of the before. The rust wasn't near as bad as I expected. 2 small pin holes maybe eighth inch in diameter. One at the top, one at the bottom. Filled with short hair bondo hair and topped that with a thin layer of bondo all the way around to fill in the spot welds. Also ground down the nipples poking out at the top. These are all the way around and I'm presuming they are for chrome trim. With the rubber seal all the way around the glass I'm not sure how one would fasten trim with the seal in the way. I intend to use 3M window weld without the seal. Will this work? My thoughts are "I wonder if this unibody twists so much that's why windshield leaks are so prevalent?" Anyway, 3 coats of primer, then paint. Using gray around this area to make it easier to see how the sealant goes down and then squishes as the glass is installed. Every now and again there is a rhyme to my reason...LoL Sent from my LG-M210 using Tapatalk -
Mysterious "clunk", please help.

Don't just check the TB. Check the bracket that supports it at the frame. The bolts pass thru the frame with nuts near near the motor mount bracket. Also check the shock bushings top and under. Seems to be the most frequent source for noise I run into... Sent from my LG-M210 using Tapatalk -

This afternoon i removed my windshield (in one piece but not unbroken...). Rust is not as bad as expected but rust none the less and whoever last installed this #Safelite glass didn't do a very productive job. Glass sealant heavy in some spots and too thin in others. It actually looked as if the glass wasn't touching the sealant in one spot. Weird...I will finish cleaning up the channel tomorrow and doing the rust repair. Will post pics later... bad starter over night...
grumpiebill replied to omega_rugal's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This isn't unusual. Can you jump the starter solenoid to see if it cranks okay that way? Or remove and bench test? Sent from my LG-M210 using Tapatalk -
A good example is the one I'm servicing right now. 2014 F150. Showing 50 psi static pressure right now at 75 degrees ambient.Evacuating recovered 0, that's zero refrigerant. Its all air. Draw it down to negative pressure. Fix a leaking service port. Draw it down again. Let it sit about a half hour or so see if it loses vacuum. Add oil/dye and recharge. You mentioned noise. If the compressor is hammering when pressure goes up excessively and compressor starts hammering could very well be an expansion valve going ape $#!&...I wouldn't call it a restriction because restrictions are typically constant (no fluctuations). I agree you should start with an evac and recharge. When system is in a vacuum should be for a minimum 30 minutes to allow moisture to boil away... Sent from my LG-M210 using Tapatalk

Here in Florida 250 psi is not unusual at 75 degrees for several reasons. Is the vehicle in direct sun light? (Heat off the glass makes it harder to cool but the low side would also be elevated). What's the temp under hood? Elevated temps from engine and radiator make it tougher to cool the high pressure. Is this a fan clutch mechanical fan or electric fan? My initial thought is could have air in the system due to not evacuating the system (pull it down to a negative pressure). Or an over active expansion valve... Sent from my LG-M210 using Tapatalk

I would keep this truck at $500. This is why I took mine off the market. A running and drivable vehicle with a clean title is worth no less than $1000. When mine is finished I'll list it with before (remember me?) and after pics for all the low ballers. "This truck you didn't want to pay $1000 for last year...is gonna cost you $5000 now... Mine seemed very thin and fragile. Previous owner had bondo over cracks. I took them off and threw them away. Havnt decided to replace or leave the holes for next owner to make that decision Sent from my LG-M210 using Tapatalk -

This one may be same color as mine was before 2 different owners painted it two different colors. John Deere green over refrigerator white over O.E. maroon...blah. Prepping for Hugger orange now. Are all flares painted? Or molded in color...? Sent from my LG-M210 using Tapatalk -

I see what eagle means about the flare now. My flares are gone. Didn't realize they extend down past the fender and bumper. Might be why they're the first thing to get damage... Sent from my LG-M210 using Tapatalk -

I don't understand why an access would be needed there. If tooling were limited one could drop the transmission crossmember to gain access...anyway I just got thru rhino liner inside and underneath with brush and 4 inch roller on mine. Check my build project... Sent from my LG-M210 using Tapatalk
