Alright, I may be one who encourages bad ideas, but here are my thoughts on the matter. You drive a CJ on 33s(?) with a 4.0, a stick, and rock sliders. You've even said its not a super nice tub. Seems to me like you do not need a dedicated wheeler, but maybe its worth adding lockers to your CJ and using that? Personally, I have more fun going up obstacles in vehicles that people don't think are capable enough to go up that obstacle. Now your CJ wouldn't be able to do some of the super hard trails that are in these pics, but how often do these guys wheel on those trails? I don't think its worth building a dedicated wheeler to only go a few times a year.

Saw these super neat photos from 86 in the factory where my car was built. If these are different cars, there’s a slight chance that the first one is mine. The second one has vinyl interior, so I know that one isn’t mine. I’ve also included a pic of a nice car. Mine desperately needs paint.

I just looked at a pic of my car. My front bumper has the piece you need and all my other pieces are missing. Looks like we’ve got a little work to do before the end of March.

Definitely a metric ton badge, so it should have a D44. That said, after nearly 330,00 miles and 34 years, the only way to check for sure would be to crawl under it and inspect.

I'd start with a compression test. Has the rear axle ratio been changed? How does it run when it is cold compared to when it is up to temperature?

Pretty rare. You might be able to find a driveshaft shop near you that would make one cheaper than Tom Woods would be. You could also make one yourself as long as you have a welder and a dial indicator to measure runout.

I just did a quick search on Rock Auto. Looks like you can get a new Renix era distributor and it is a different part number than the HO distributor. So my guess would be no, it will not work.

There are members who make things just for our trucks, and I've had the pleasure of buying from several of them. @Eagle_SX4 gave me a CSC to bellhousing grommet for my trans, for the cost of shipping. @500 MJ hooked me up with the unobtanium hood prop clip I needed. My engine bay looks even better and I have 6.5" rear speakers mounted thanks to @boxyjeep.Everybody here seems willing to go out of their way to help someone out with knowledge, experience and parts. That truck does look super nice. For a run around daily driver type pickup that does not see much interstate time, a 4 cyl is a perfect truck.

I believe they made them and you might even be able to get a new one. They are the same as an XJ.

Maybe when it gets three pedals. Until then, I’ll enjoy my clock
