    Road trips

One upon a time (it was last July, I’m sure most will remember this), I tried to take my MJ from WI to PA. I made it 40 miles from home and it overheated. We got it home and we took my mom’s Jeep. I did meet a lot a lot of CC members, so that’s a plus!
  2. FWIW, Mishimoto does have a lifetime warranty. If you never plan on selling your truck, this is a plus.
  3. My AX-15 has been spoken for. Thanks for the tag though!
  4. I’m very much a buy once, cry once type of person. Because of that, I have the Mishimoto in mine. It has been fantastic so far.

    Front Fender Flares

Just bumping again. I’m wanting to get the truck out soon, so I may post on FB in a week or so looking for these.
  6. March 2022- @JWheeler331's 1988 Pioneer Build Thread- Year/Model - 1988 Pioneer Drivetrain- 4.0, 5 speed manual transmission, Dana 44 rear, Dana 30 front Cooling- Stock Electrical/Ignition- Stock Suspension/Steering- Stock for now. Waiting on 6" lift from RRO. Fingers crossed it all comes in a timely fashion Interior- I am redoing the interior right now. It came with the gray interior. The previous owner put Corbeau bucket seats in it but also gave me the original seat which I had reupholstered in all gray marine vinyl. I POR15'd the floor and put in Noico Sound Deadener throughout the cab. Instead of the carpet I am going back with a gray vinyl flooring. Brakes- Replaced the front brakes with OEM style pads, rotars, calipers etc. Replaced the master cylinder. Other than that it is stock for now. Lighting- Amazon headlights. I have KeyParts brake light lenses that will be going on and new old stock blinkers and running lights. Stock fog lights are not connected as of now. Exterior- Stock Colorado red paint with the Pioneer striping. Wheel & Tires- I believe the wheels came off of a Cherokee or some other Jeep. Not sure. They have 31x10.50x15 tires on them. I would like to find a set of turbine wheels. Misc- I am planning on doing a 6" lift from Rocky Road Outfitters. I have heard the horror stories from others but hoping they have their stuff together now. My hopes are to run 33x10.50x15 tires with little to no cutting. Fingers crossed. Best MJ story- I don't really have any good MJ stories since I have only had the truck for about 2 months. CC is Awesome! Why? The people here are very friendly and knowledgeable. The site has been such a big help in figuring out different things as I work through this (my first) build. Congratulations JWheeler331! I have to say, I'm a sucker for these original paint Colorado Red trucks.
  7. Would you be able to make a write up for that in the DIY section? That is good information.
  8. It's getting warmer up here in WI! That means that the MJ will be able to come out of storage soon, I will make some changes to that (see that build thread for what is going on there), then hopefully by mid-late April, I will be able to start giving this car the attention it deserves. Really, this car will need a considerable amount of work, but hopefully I'll be able to get it all done quickly. I have a new D30 for it, I just want to find an XJ D44 rear and gear them both to 3.55 I need to fix the seat springs and do some upholstery work on the driver's seat Put headliner in it Fix some minor rust on the frame rails (it sounds more major than it really is) Fix some dings and prior bodywork that has been done many years ago, before the PO that I got it from the first time And paint it It sounds like a lot of work, but most of it should happen pretty quickly.
  9. I'm hoping to pull the truck out of storage in the next couple of weeks here. I probably won't be driving it for at least a month, but it is time to do some mods that I have wanted to do for a while. I am going to start with putting my chrome front bumper on and getting my front skid and sportbar powder coated. While I do that, a set of uncut front flares will be going on. While the skid and sportbar are at powdercoat, I am going to actually put some time into the engine. I plan to do Cruiser's Distributor index: http://cruiser54.com/?p=68 While I'm in there, either advance the CPS or just swap to a high altitude CPS: http://cruiser54.com/?p=127 And upgrade to a bored TB: http://www.strokedjeep.com/renix t-body.html I'm hoping those will just make the truck a little smoother and wake it up a little while maybe improving the fuel mileage, but that's about my last concern. Once I have this thing back on the road, then it will be time to tear back into the Eagle.
  10. I added it to the title and original post to help you out. I would guess it has the same effects.
  11. Not much on this has happened since November. The guy that loaned me the dual quad intake gave me a screaming deal on his 348 and this intake, so I am going to have two of these in a couple of weeks. I will have to sell if my extra AX-15 to make it happen though…
  12. My dad always said that to my brother and I while growing up.
  13. I know I’ve already said it, but congratulations! I’m happy for you.
  14. Good to know. I’ll be looking at ordering one soon. Thanks.

    Gas prices

Turns out I was mistaken. We are at $3.79/gal here.

    Gas prices

Since I have started driving, gas is the highest that it has ever been. (I've been driving since '20 though, so not much comparison). We are somewhere around $3.45/gallon for 87 in SW WI
  17. When I sold this car when I had it a few years ago, it was to get my Comanche. I can confirm that it is pretty darn awesome having them both.
  18. Perfect, thank you. In your opinion, is it worth doing? I do spend a lot of time driving at around 60 mph.
  19. I don’t need the pieces, but those are both good finds.
  20. Still not going to sell it. It is nice being rebuildable.
  21. I have done some reading on the high altitude CPS for Renix trucks. It appears that it does not add more power at WOT, but it does make it idle smoother and cruise at speed easier. I am around 500-1000 feel in elevation. Can anyone confirm that it will not ping at that elevation? Is it actually worth doing? I plan on doing that with Cruiser’s dizzy index and a bored TB. I have the answer now for the 4.0. Does anyone have experience on it for a 2.5?
  22. Transmission went back in Saturday night, then the front wheel bearings started making noise. The right one was much worse than the left, so that one got replaced. I’m hoping to replace the left one tonight if I have time. Funny story about these, you cannot get a whole hub assembly, so you have to take it all apart and press in new bearings and races. No part of it is difficult by any means, just more time consuming.
  23. Personally, I am super happy with my AAL. It raised the back some and made the truck feel more planted. It did make it a little stiffer, but it made it way more pleasant to drive too. Then I’d run adjustable LCAs, and adjustable track bar, and some 3” lift coils.
