86 radiator rubber mount isolators
The86manche replied to The86manche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Unfortunately yeah. Still something I'll need but not what I'm looking for. I have ideas for improvised isolators but I'd rather find even a nos set or something. Maybe window urethane the brass bushing back in? -
86 radiator rubber mount isolators
The86manche replied to The86manche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I talked to one of the guys that works at crown and he said they only have the ones for the 87+ 4.0 radiators. I need this guy. The brash threaded bushing pulled out on both -
Anyone know if they make them new? Or if there's some nos ones kicking around?
-
Do they still click if you put the old module back in?

At this point that intake has been discontinued and is quite difficult to find. I got lucky and found one used on ebay a while back. There's also very limited info on these intakes, what you need for the swap, hardware. Ive been doing this basically blind and figuring it out one piece at a time at each roadblock.

2bbl spacer on 4bbl position

Project clean machine?
The86manche replied to The86manche's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Well if it's not one thing its everything else. Still waiting on some parts and figuring a few things out so in the mean time I figured I'd clean up the engine bay. Radiator was junk so out it went. Pulled the battery and found crunchy metal.. I also degreased and wire brushed some areas too. You just hate to see it.. cut out the bad metal and avaed it to use as a template for new metal. then sanded, scuffed, wire brushed, wire wheeled, cleaned and coated with rust converter primer. one of the local neighbour folk stopped as he was jogging by to ask me about my truck and tell me he admires the work I do!- 99 replies

Project clean machine?
The86manche replied to The86manche's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
More progress but slow progress. Waiting on parts and cleaning things up. Ran the heater hoses, need to clean up the heater bypass valve, cleaned up the heater hose fittings on the motor, new cast STEEL water outlet, I don't remember the last time I saw a steel water outlet haha. New thermostat, radiator is half out. And as much as I don't know to I should probably change the upper radiator hose. It's original to the truck and you can still see faded American motor print on it. Still need to adjust valve lash so valve covers are not secured yet. Cleaned up the alternator bracket. Just trying to make the rest of the engine/bay look half as good as the shiny parts on it- 99 replies

2bbl spacer on 4bbl position
The86manche replied to The86manche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Less for clearance more for adapting. It's kind of one of the only ones I could find that would work. -
2bbl spacer on 4bbl position
The86manche replied to The86manche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It's edelbrocks intake. I wish you good luck they have been discontinued and it's hard to find now -
In need of a tf904 kickdown that's not broken. Mine has broken tabs and I'd like one I can properly secure for my build

I've got an 86 mj with the 2.8 and I'm swapping intakes. the riser is for a 4bbl, unfortunately I couldn't find a 2bbl one, so I'm just trying to make it work. I have a 1 inch spacer for a 4 to a 2 bbl, my concern is for fuel delivery in the intake depending on positioning of the carb 4bbl riser Carb forward Carb back. My concern is will adequate fuel still get to either the front of back depending on where the Carb is bolted. Or am I overthinking this?

Bleeding brakes - what am I forgetting?
The86manche replied to JefCooks's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
How is fluid flowing from both ports in the master? If you disconnect it from the distribution block and run the lines into a bottle or something and press the brake foes fluid flow nicely? How are your soft lines? -
Project clean machine?
The86manche replied to The86manche's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Well after staring at all the shiny bits it made me look at the rest of the engine bay and want to clean it up.. So I did. Removed pieces like the air pump and heater hoses that I'm pretty sure we're original. One of them was so old and hard it wouldn't flex and crumbled in my hand. Don't know how it held fluid. Started pulling fittings and brackers to sandblast and wire wheel. Doing all this while I wait for parts. Need new tstat, water outlet, heater hoses, waiting on an accel pump from holly, and as much as I don't want to I should probably change my upper radiator hose. It is original from 86 it still has a faded American motors Corp print and logo on it.- 99 replies

Project clean machine?

I took those refurbed fiero valve covers and dry fit them on to see how things looked. Everything was just mock up at this point. About the nicest thing on this truck right now haha and clears the hood too!- 99 replies

Project clean machine?
The86manche replied to The86manche's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Cleaned everything up and slapped on some felpro performance intake gaskets with the heat risers blocked. Was not a fan of this gasket design. The pushrods go through the gasket so you need to take them out to get the old gasket out and new in. It looks so sleek and shiny. I installed and torqued. Everything was going well until I felt one of the bolts start to get loose instead of tight. Not enough thread engagment. And did i catch that at the right moment! All the others tightened up fine but since this one almost lost threads I decided I'd go and get slightly longer ones to replace the oe ones holding down the carb riser piece.- 99 replies

Well between everything and everything I managed some time to work on my engine. I am swapping intakes for an edelbrock and carbs for a 2bbl hHolly. They really try and make this engine look as big as possible in here haha The more yous trip the smaller it gets. I don't think that egr was doing anything anymore. factory intake was removed in a day.- 99 replies

technical help Decel valve?
The86manche replied to KingSideswipe's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'll be honest my 2.8 does not have it and never did when I bought it. Never had an issue. Most of the emissions stuff was bypassed and I just finished the rest. I'd say just remove it altogether if you can -
Intermittent wiper module repaired
The86manche replied to The86manche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have confirmed 2 working modules! I have roughly 1 minute long videos showing both in action. Truck was not running because I'm working on it so slow settings were.. slow. But they worked. And the higher the setting the faster they intermittently wiped. -
Intermittent wiper module repaired
The86manche replied to The86manche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I got two ready for testing and decided to crack open the worst module in the bunch. One of the ones cruiser sent actually.. and crack open it did. The case was so brittle it cracked apart. So will have to look into options for a new case. -
