Taillights, tail lights, taillamps, tail lamps
eaglescout526 replied to cruiser54's topic in The Pub
I think he is being sarcastic. But needless to say I understand the frustration. I hate how a lot of those posts are all talk about getting them reproduced but nothing ever comes of it. So the topic keeps coming up and up and up until something gets figured out. Hell I'm sure a run of just 100 of each side would suffice. There’s only so many MJ’s left in the world and the XJ reigns dominant and has support for every angle on that body. We don’t. We have next to near nothing when it comes to the cab and back to the bumper. Like the factory bumper. Everyone wants one. But not everyone will get one because it’s a bloody accessory and option. Not a lot of us have skills or time to sit down and give this truck part support that it needs.- 9 replies

I have an AX4 sittin out back at my work, but the threads are kinda stripped on the handle.

Lol I thought about that. But I also thought about calling safelite. But I’ll have to use the method above your post in the future

Actually it blew more in an exciting fashion. As soon as I clicked it over to AC the clutch locked up and blew a seal. So there will be no metal shavings anywhere. So all in all everything passed with flying colours. Just the clutch didn’t like it.

Adding power steering
eaglescout526 replied to Comanche1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This is off the top of my head but you’ll need the pump, hoses, pressure sensor, hoses and power steering box. The mount should already be there as it is used as a “idler pulley”. -

DL-22 door lock cylinders
eaglescout526 replied to Dammerung's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Pictures of said locks? Link maybe? -
I found something yesterday in my old air box. It’s really neat but I find it valuable. Its a penny from 1988. It sat right under the blower motor wheel is and it probably sat there since ‘88 too.

Looks good! Only part you can tell is bad is the fender flare on the bed.

That's weird to see a 4.0L with a 2.5L coolant bottle

Well she is back together. Took a little drive around the block, ran great! Forgot to plug in the speedometer, thank goodness I have cruise. Wonder how she will do when the system is good and charged.

My underhood light has the ford logo on it but with a AMC part number. Remember AMC was like a kid in the candy store. They used parts from Ford, GM(mostly) and Chrysler with some in-house stuff of their own.

Getting there!! It’s looking damn good...and damn cramped. Learned a couple things today: 1). Your father has a better idea of things and thus I learned to fish an AC line through this small crack between the radiator and it’s support like so; 2). The water pump pulley is bare metal for a reason on the groove for the belt....

I didn't know AMC put AM general on the back door. I watched a youtube video about a guys DJ and the back said "Jeep", but what really caught my eye was that the valve cover had a really big AMC logo and it said American Motors on it.

Just because this is the 101st post for Little Red and for my love of Fallout series I will post a quote by Ron Perlman narrating the opening to Fallout 3 "Vault 101. This is where you are born, this is where you will die." Also Wooo page five!

Lost Keys=New Door Locks
eaglescout526 replied to LTZ_3's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Nope. Just time, patience and a good flat head screw driver to get up in there. Orrrr you unbolt the door latch and the other rods to pull out the lock cylinder from the outside and unclip It that way. -
Can't wait. Well I got almost everything in. Air hoses are now all hooked up. Some hoses I bought from Coheed showed up today and those hoses became my saving grace. So with the condenser being a factory condenser and not a dealer one really messed with the dealer hoses and made the distance from the dryer to the hose father away than what the dealer air would have. So if those hoses I had not bought shown up today, I would've been hosed(heh). They are in decent shape, seen years of use. not filthy on the inside just some mineral oil residue. They should work fine. All that is left is to button up the interior and install rad hoses, belt, fan and shroud. I need to get a picture of it up before I reinstall it. I painted it and it looks good. I really hope all this works. It is just a hot mess of 2.5L parts.

You know, It came with Little red when I got her from my grandfather. It is an actual AMC part. But I don't think they sold well or enough of them. 56002190. The factory installed condenser. It was available from vintage so I bought that one as the dealer condensers are not available. At least that I can't find. Can't wait to have AC!!

Thanks JMO, This project has been kicking my butt. I just really hope this abomination of a compressor and the dealer installed hoses will work.

Getting there! Course I ran into fitment issues. Expected. But everything fits. Alt has been modified for fit and pulley alignment. Sadly the hood light has to come out. Damn. (This is false, I since relocated the hood light and it fits under the hood like it should. I thought it would be weird for AMC to have a hood light and not have AC)

AM general and AMC were the same company until Renault enter the picture. The U.S. military told AMC that their contract is nulled due to outside involvement with military vehicles. So AMC sold AM general to the government.
