  1. Huh. Interesting. You do have the right pulley for the alt. Now we are on to something here about the power steering. Might be something we are gonna have to look out for. I’ll snap a pic of my power steering in the morning. Maybe the pulley isn’t pressed on far enough
  2. AC or no AC? If no, post a pic of the alt pulley. Also fun fact, you can put in a 4.0L pump and reservoir assembly if you want to do away with the remote reservoir. Possibility for your alignment/issue could solely be based on the alt pulley. A specific pulley is used on the alt for models without AC that push the belt outward to align the rest of them. The alt sinks back in vs than with an AC compressor. Why? I have no idea why AMC did it like this but it worked for them. 2. See my fun fact. 3. Didn’t think the YJ would have such a different pulley but you could always compare the two.
  3. Lol yes. I only heated it to about 100*. Just enough so the paint would cure. All the flammable stuff had been cleaned and wiped away.
  4. Ok so the TF727 decided it hated the RTV job the mechanics did when the PO had all the oil leaks "taken" care of. So decided to do a little googling, recalled somewhere that the TF could take the 42RE oil pan gasket. Picked one up from work, got the pan down, fluid was new and clean, might look into saving that and putting it to use in the engines. Painted it AMC blue cause I had some paint and I had to have it cure for a couple days and in the oven, wife wasnt too happy haha. Got it installed tonight and no leaks!! Just the valve cover and steering remain as leaks.
  5. Oh good! Haha. Absolutely! Feel free to reach out.
  6. Welcome to the club! The hunt is fun!
  7. Yup! Thats a PSA we preach around here. Good catch! Though you might want to grab a timing cover in your spare time.
  8. No...I dont. I sold these about a year ago. Best way I can describe was that its that bar welded to the eye.
  9. Key takeaways from this one are the tow mirrors and the black spoke steering wheel. Really neat one too and a great one to get into the early XJ game.
  10. They are, you can still get them actually. Warn makes them. This?
  11. there are some whackadoos that insist carb is better for that engine.
  12. Was an automatic. The only thing worthwhile on that is the intake manifold.
  13. It’s the little things. Finally got a cover for the drivers side power seat. I have no idea how in the hell I would constantly forget I’m missing that cover haha. Thanks to @JolietJEEP'84 I was able to get that covered and get some NOS nutmeg front floor mats in that are era correct and better fitting than the later thick Chrysler mats. I really love the contrast between the tans and the vinyl floor. Aside from Jeeps interior already popping in the early 80’s, I think having a mix of all 3 tans just makes this look much more cool.
  14. Blew up the passenger side CV axle testing the 4wheel drive. needless to say it works. We were told it was serviced and the axle was replaced. i dont understand why it blew up which means something is either going on or the axle is crap like 89 MJ told me. Gonna get an S10 on in the future.
  15. That looks like it’s it and no problem! I learned the hard way once what it’s like to shift without that cone and it gave a really interesting half disengagement and a audible clunk while forcing the clutch pedal to stop half way through travel. But that cone should give you the extra amount of travel you need to get back up and running. After a while they just disintegrate.
  16. So the rears are flashing when you turn on the right signal? But left behaves normally? Part of me would think that the hazard wiring would be interfering. However I’d suspect the left would do the same. You replaced the turn signal switch inside the column and not the stalk right? Sometimes that gets confused. Have you refreshed all the grounds and did you inspect the fronts by chance during your cleaning and replacing of the bulbs? You need another hand with this one. I learned that one the same exact way. As long as someone puts pressure on the other side you’ll be able to get it back together.
  17. This cone. It goes on the end of the rod/boot If you don’t have this the clutch will barely engage enough to shift. If it’s still getting air into it, it could be the seals are shot and need a rebuild at both the master and slave. Or there’s a pinhole leak in the lines.
  18. I went to confirm and I still do. What an interesting yet lazy design. Makes the Jeep pegs look better. So wiper arms will be in the future.
  19. Took it to the cruise in. Got some attention. Still have lots to do but I think I’ve got the carb situation dialed in.
  20. Heres the brake pads And heres a tour of the system sentry. Also got some NOS floor mats again. Nutmeg in color but I think they will help break up the monotony of the tan and blac. And be easier for me to do some shifting and braking. Especially while training my wife on a manual. And! Got a drivers side power seat cover too! Now the interior will be complete! Hod did I go this long with an incomplete interior?
  21. Careful. You’ll get unwarranted attention and into a world of obscurity and funky parts. But hey! Inline 6, torque flight 3 speed with 4wheel drive and the shifter is ford. Oh and some different flavors too.
  22. Does the external slave rod have the extension cone on it?
  23. Ok speaking of JKs and JLs. Wife and I were in the eagle and the driver pointed to us while trying to get his wife to look at what we were driving. @89 MJ, you are damn right about these cars just getting attention.
  24. Well darn. I kinda hooked something up to the manifold but I need to look at it a little bit better. I found something the other day that helps me get a better idea of how it should be hooked up. Those cables are nice.
