Search up the cap number and you should be able to find a plethora of caps. Probably anything from plastic to metal.

The second pic is for the 4wd as well if I remember right. I have seen 4wd Jeeps use the same switch/vac valve on 4wd set ups. It is not used for the cruise control at all. Course I have never plugged mine in so I have no idea if it will even affect anything being that mine is 2wd. Not sure on the first one though. There are quite a few unconnected plugs that really don't go anywhere. AMC probably had things planned for a good chunk of the empty plugs and while some were used, it is unknown what they had planned for the others that go unused. Could always use a voltmeter and see if it has power.

On the bright side, you can get to the hole from the otherside if you remove the bracket. Otherwise it looks like its gonna be a drill and tap for that one type deal.

We are charged and good to go. I’m hearing a new sound but it could be just the compressor breaking in as it has sat for about 30 years since new. So I’ll be sure to baby it for a bit.

Yeah what he said. Those grounds have probably been in place for more than 30 years and absolutely could use a refresh. Grounds are a known culprit if 80% of electrical problems.

Well I got the system evaced today. NOS compressor showed up. Lets begin! So I got the old compressor removed. Easy-peasy right? Well all went good until I needed the valves on top the compressor. Well the Jeepair kit with the suction side valve had a wonky nut on it but it still went on. Well its stuck on the old compressor. So I fought and fought with it until I panicked due to the valve not coming off. Welllll I have an older compressor on standby to rebuild soon and it has valves on it. I was told theyre older R134 valves. So I ran to O' reillys and got an R12 retrofit kit and bingo we were in business! The new adaptors fit on them perfectly. Ok crisis adverted. Now to get the compressor installed. Done! My only concern right now is the discharge hose being bent as it is. Granted it worked fine when it did work, but when I tightened it down, the hose I swore was bending and flexing. I couldve been imagining it as I can't get the hose to move so I have no idea. Hopefully all goes well tomorrow. Oh and Minuit, I did drain out the old mineral oil and put in the proper PAG oil in case you read this.

So the Idle Speed Actuator(ISA) is what controls engine idle speed and proper start up each time. If it’s not adjusted right, it won’t start up each time right. If it’s not working the idle speed will be stuck where ever it failed. They are known to get gummed up and fail at the electrical contacts and the gears internally. Even the motor inside gets carbon build up and can not operate too funny enough.

Can you verify your ISA is working? When you shut down the engine do you here some mechanical whirring under the hood or is it just silent? It sounds like to me it could not be working at all if adjusting it makes the idle speed to high. Granted on start up it should get to 2500-3000 rpm and then come down.

That’s a home brew thing right there.

Yes there is an idler adjuster. It’s the ISA on the front of the TB. I recommend adjusting the bolt that touches the throttle plate out a little bit and see if that helps with starting without pushing the accelerator pedal. That being said, once that is good and set I recommend the adjustment procedure for the ISA.

I mean if you beat me to it. It might be a week or so before I can buy one from them.

Well shoot if you do that I would be damned. But otherwise they said to me that I will get exactly what they have pictured. They have an offer button so I will probably hit them with an offer. I did get the idea to use the NOS one in the event I want tweeters for the stereo.

Yeah that’s really a weird thing. Have you tried checking the resistance in the ground wire? @Ωhm can we recommend a traditional bulb for diagnosing the issue? Or is using the LED just fine?
