I went back to the car on Monday. I removed the carb to get a rebuild kit and rebuild it as the butterflies to the engine is seized closed. Ill take some pics of before and after. But holy crap is GM a mess with their damn Quadrajets. Like its all broken down by model(pretty sure its part number) number. Oh and the number isnt stamped in the circle on the back with the rest of the info and data, its on the drivers side of the carb. So you could have a 79 GM with a 400ci and like 7 other Quadrajet models that can be on the engine given the make application. Really annoying and tough for someone new to the GM world of carbs. Any who I got a GM rebuild kit, just waiting on the degreaser to show up from the Bezos. Next will be to at least get a couple tires to make the car roll and or possibly drive itself to where I will be working on it. And I derusted the top of the air filter lid and sadly its shot and has some rust. I am tempted to see if I can weld those holes and make it look nice without getting a new lid. Little steps at a time.

This tailgate looks like how both my CO Red tailgates look/looked. I know how my grandfather screwed up the original tailgate, my father says he loaded his canoe in the MJ and went to the lake and he backed into a pole with the tailgate down and crunched it a little bit...still want to rebuild that gate. My current one I bought from ebay and thats all I know lol. I smashed whatever dents I could get but there wasnt any above the handle.

GM door buzzers should be the same, but one would want to verify the pin out before installing one. The buzzers from the SJ's are the chime box and those are plug n play.

I have a metric ton of these(feels like it) in my interior bits post. Usually most people who buy the other factory mirrors have the interior portion. So you’ll have to find them used.

Too bad they don’t make them anymore. There wouldn’t be enough interested to even make 100 liners for us.

Do you have the guide plastics on? Sometimes if they’re not fully on, the belt won’t retract without some assistance.

There should be a DIY. But there’s a bit of a problem trying to get the terminals and crimping the wires on the multiples one.

So as I was there on Sunday I pulled the dash bezel to see what I was getting into. I need a new lens for the fuel and battery gauge, found those luckily and I removed the bezel to clean it up and well it’s a pretty special bezel and cleaning it has proven to be..a challenge per say. But the turn indicators and the radial tuned suspension badge were free floating or not aligned so I fixed those up. Now I just need to touch up the gauge trim rings and reinstall the bezel.

I bought a NOS sensor from a dealer. Came in a 90’s Mopar box. O2 was metal bodied and stamped with NTK on it. I do also have NOS O2’s in AMC packaging with ceramic and those are labeled with autolite on the ceramic base.

Lol no problem. The 16 gallon sending unit has a shorter float arm than the 23.5/18 one. You can get a bigger tank yes.

There are two sending unit styles. There’s the 23.5/18 gallon and 16 gallon sending unit. If you have an 86 2.5L, chances are you have the 16 gallon(23.5 and 16 gallon share the same tank architecture but the baffle for fuel filling is at different heights inside the tank) and you probably installed the 23.5/18 gallon sending unit. Which is why it’s stopping at half when full.
