Haha funny guy aren't ya. No more projects I need at least 1 semi driveable vehicle

I had peeked at these. Guess I just am not sure if Mazda has improved their reliability factor.

Hahahaha, one of my really good buddies has a sequoia and other has an odyssey. They both really like them, one has 4 kids and other it's their only vehicle I also guess it's the other thing of why you never buy a truck because all your friends will ask your to move. Get a van and everyone will just say let's load that up and go. I'll also preface the rest by my wife drives a GX460 that has 3rd row and truly is great to drive. MPG wise is pretty much on par with some of the minivans specs give or take 5ish MPG. I don't need another big vehicle or anything AWD. I'd prefer MPG over AWD. Subis I just am not interested in at all for a few reasons. One, in CO it's going to be the top of my price point and beyond the mileage I want. Two, I've driven them and don't find them comfortable at all. Lastly, their maintenance cost can add up and given what I would be getting mileage condition wise I don't want to get stuck holding the bag.

So not really a sedan unless it was a wagon. SUV if it gets decent MPG, but most don't. CrV might be the closest and I've thought about those too. I just can't bring myself to daily a mini van. Maybe in a few years but just not at that point. Guess that's where the xB plays a part. Not a full on van but enough to check most the boxes for what a van can do but still have somewhat of a coolness factor. Subis I'm not found of. Everyone I've ever known that had one has issues. Head gaskets and blown engines. Fit is a little too small for car seats. 1 it would be fine but looking through stuff it would be a little crammed. Rav4 possible but again MPG isnt really stellar. Ideally 30 hwy would be great. I know the xB is 28 maybe 30 with a tailwind going downhill. Thing is so unaerodynamic it's silly. don't need 4wd or was, WJ will still jeep bad weather duty and and backroad adventures. Years ago I used to have a HHR ss, thing was fun. It could haul @$$. Wouldnt classify it as relaible though. Tons of space and got 30s if I wasnt pushing it.

Alright spend my money......not really, but that time has to come to get a more family friendly car that's not a fortune. We are expecting another ankle bitter in the next few months and after all the fiascoes with the WJ I'm done with Jeeps. Not selling mine but need something I don't have to wrench on or worry about will we make it. Plus the addition of the lunchbox to the WJ has made the ride slightly less tolerable. Here's a basic breakdown of what I'm looking for. 4 doors, under 6k, nothing Ford, no minivans (seriously), preferably 2008+ Here's my must have #1 Need to be able to fit 2 car seats in the back without making front passengers uncomfortable #2 Reliable, I don't mind basic maintenance but I really want to have something I can do minimal work on and not worry about. #3 Needs decent MPG, my WJ averages 14ish MPG driving on the highway it needs premium too. So not saying I need 40+MPG but something better #4 Needs to have solid safety ratings #5 Needs decent cargo space. Kids have so much crap..... My would be nice to haves #1 Manual, I really enjoy 3 pedals #2 under 150k, I know service records mean more than miles but..... Right now my top choice is a Scion xB but open to suggestions.

Took the WJ about for a little adventure to see how the lunchbox does. Other than being annoying AF on turns in the street does great offroad. Some poser shots...

Help Identifying front/ rear diff
Smokeyyank replied to marcial88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Never said it was junk just the biggest downside because of reasons mentioned, 2 piece shafts and it's vacuum actuated. -
Help Identifying front/ rear diff
Smokeyyank replied to marcial88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Both are decent axles. Biggest downside on the D30 up front is the CAD. It's a two piece shaft that is vacuum actuated. You can eliminate it and get a 1 piece shaft or at least get a posi to ditch the vacuum line, or swap in a 98-99 HP30, bigger u joints and non CAD. AMC20 is pretty solid. My dad has one on his CJ with 35's chromo shafts and ARBs. Held up fine until he did new axle seals and didn't reinstall it right. Ended up losing a wheel while driving and bending the axle housing. -

F ADT......What a joke. We had them in our house in englewood and that was a rip off. Another thought if you are tech savvy is using raspberry PI for wiring up cameras and the rest.

gotta say... this method of cargo transport hadn't occurred to me...

I've had A LOT of vehicles in my life. Probably at least 1 a year for the 20ish year's I've been legally able to drive. They've ranged from classics to new and all the junk in between. I've never lost money on anything I bought (except the one new car which I said never again), a few I've made a good chunk of change on but most are a break even and that's just for parts, labor yeah forget it. No offense to you at all but for me it's not a 12k MJ, maybe 8-10k tops. A few of the things you did are specific to what you like but others may not like it. For me the wheels and bumper are two things that really stand out that I'm not a fan of. Had you done a full 97+ swap with different wheels I could see it being a little more inline with a higher price, but as it is now going to be a little bit of a tougher sale. But as the saying in car sales go an @$$ for every seat. Restos are tough to make money on and really you have to find something that appeals to a wide audience. IMHO MJ's are awesome but it' will be hard for them to ever compete with a c10 or K5 marketplace. Body work is also one of those things that while it's nice to have done and done well, there has to be other things contributing to the overall vehicle to make it worth while. On a jeep body work becomes a really a weird area. On one hand you have vehicle you're supposed take off road and get dirty other hand if the pain is nice you don't really want to. I loved driving my MJ around but given the choice of a cruising vehicle it wouldn't be my first choice or even second. If I was going to spend 10k on something to cruise around in MJ ain't making my top 10 list, but as a trail rig better believe it's my first.

A deck and after market speakers are already going to be a massive upgrade over stock. Not going to find a lot of people opting for high end stereo equipment in a MJ, just isn't a platform conducive to audiophiles. Subs you are limited to either ones that go behind the seats or modifying the center console to fir a 8" in there. Only other option is something like this https://www.crutchfield.com/S-l0eoVAPGa64/p_113KSCSW11/Kenwood-KSC-SW11.html I run one in my WJ and it dose decent. Nothing close to my old system running 12's that would flex windows and shake your cavities loose. Really is going to boil down to the music you like to determine what to do. I mainly listen to rock/punk/hardcore so having a little bass besides what the 6x9s put's out is nice. And with the small sub it can keep up with the tighter bass. If I was listening to hip hop or something with more bass I'd try to get a 10" somewhere if not a 12".

Should bolt in.

Been trying to figure out a bad tranny leak at the radiator. Thing was just spewing fluid everywhere. Figured out the lower connector wasnt fully on and is next to impossible to easily get too. Other issue was the tranny temp. Hasnt been that hot here really, 90 the other day was the highest in a while, but tranny was getting up to 200+. So decided now was the time to fix the leak and bypass the rad. Huge improvement! Temp now is about 150-160 under heavy load and no more leaks. Also had to fix an issue with my rear sway bar. After adding the ironman diff cover it wasnt playing well with the addco sway bar. Put some spacers on and fixed a bolt issue. Both IRO and addco dropped the ball on supplying any decent hardware so needed to deal with that. All good. Next up will be battery cables.

Thought about a bastrad pack? Otherwise maybe the IRO stock ones.

So hands down my biggest issue is managing a office full of women. Want to talk about a challenge. I coach football and have for years, all ages from 6 to 18. Some of those things transfer over but some of these other things I deal with good grief. No amount of "coaching" or mind altering substances can make it bareable.

Hey happy Friday! And TGIF!!!! On a unrelated note, mid level management sucks. Seriously just need to change the title to adult babysitter. Anyways.....picked up this Hazy IPA from westbound and down. Pretty tasty but nothing spectacular think they do better on more traditional west coast IPAs.

ITS ALIVE!!! After 6 months. Finally back on the road. Forgot how much more umph it has compared to the 4.0 WJ. Thing just goes. Engine fixed, new rear axle seals and lunchbox put in. Fixed the fn radio too so now it doesnt have some annoying crackle and replaced the cover. Much happier with the Metra fit versus the one from before. Indifferent on the lunchbox. Had one in my XJ and guess I forgot about what I didnt like..... click, click THUNK BANG click THUNK then smooth. Take some getting used to again but is nice to have the grip now in the dirt. Next up will be redoing the tranny cooling lines and putting an aux cooler. Then battery cables, getting either 2 or 4awg ones
