The Comanche is getting an upgrade! I'm not an audio expert at all, but the original truck only came with two tweeters under the dash. It's going to take some work to get all the brand new wiring mapped out and ran through the doors and to the rear pillars. Digging into it!

A maintenance item that had never been addressed was cleaning and lubricating the door latches. They were gunked with mega hardened 35+ year old grease and grime and whatever else the previous owner sprayed in there. I disassembled the door, removed the latches and soaked in mineral spirits for about an hour. Most of the junk softened and I could brush out with a toothbrush and the hard stuff with a pick. Got it lubed up with some lithium grease and it's working supa smooth!

Had a chance to work on the Comanche over the last few weeks. I had previously cut out the decayed heat barrier from the floor pans and firewall. Here, I custom cut and fit sound deadening butyl and closed cell foam heat barrier. The passenger side and transmission tunnel took me about 2 hours, the driver's side took about 3 years since my last post! Haha I used Silass for the sound deadening and heat reduction and aluminum tape for all the seams except the cover on the trans tunnel

These look so good from Key Parts.. I had to get an xj pan and beat and beat on it until it was in shape enough to weld in. You're doing great work Pete! Nice job! Side Question: Is there a way to proactively prevent cowl leaking? I am back at my mj project after some time, a lot of time off.

Did you have any luck mounting the RedRocks on your pioneer?

This accessory project for the Jeep Comanche has been a long time coming. I've wanted to add auxiliary power and streamline easy connections. As the MJ project continues I'll be adding several electric accessories, switches and relays. I added 2 six slot fuse blocks. The right side is hooked up as Always On power. The left is Key On power. I added a big relay to control the key on power. There is an 80Amp inline fuse mounted near the battery. The cables are 6 AWG and let me tell you, I got them from Battery Cables USA, Great pricing and super easy to order lengths and terminal sizes. Plus, they even custom turned the terminals for the shorter cables to make the connections route as easy as possible. I mounted the fuse blocks with stainless sheet metal screws. I mounted the relay and the main ground by inserting rivet nuts, allowing bolt in vs self tapping screws. I've been super intimidated by wiring projects and did as much research as I could before putting this together. Once I got the diagram planned & laid out and all the components in hand, it wasn't too bad to install. More projects coming soon! I'm pumped to be back at it!

Finally got to cross a project off the list on the Jeep Comanche. Got a new serpentine belt and a brand new harmonic balancer installed. Pumped to get the tools out again! DAYCO 5060975 belt DAYCO Powerbond Harmonic Balancer PB1439N

How about a project update after a solid year and a half of no new news?!? Here we go! We can start with about 4 years ago I met this amazing girl while on a work trip in Washington. We traveled together and made a long distance relationship work for over 3 years. A short time after Covid19 spread across the country, I lost my job in a company restructure. Carly and I took advantage of that crap situation and we decided to get together and I made the move from Houston to Washington. The MJ was not running at the time with a suspected fuel pump problem. I decided to go ahead and coordinate shipping the truck up once I had made the move. Major props and thanks to my dad for having a mechanic friend of his stop by and swap in a new fuel pump I had ordered. Started right up! I immediately started getting truck transport bids and got one set up to deliver. Carly and I were living in her apartment at the time but it had a nice parking garage. My dad coordinated the load up of the Jeep and the driver made his way across country. A few days later he showed up right outside the apartment building and had it unloaded. I drove it to it's new designated spot in garage. Fun driving with no shocks yet..haha! Since then, we have bought a home, got engaged and now the Comanche has a nice garage to call it's own! I'm looking forward to the next couple of projects. I'd say we are about 80-85% done with the full build plan! More to come..stay tuned! Thanks for following along!

I haven't directly bought parts from Kody but have followed his facebook listings for a few years. I've seen multiple posts with great feedback. I would 100% feel certain you'll get what you buy from him and shipped in a timely manner. Seems like a good dude! I'd buy from him when I come across something needed in my build

After 30 years it seems original accessories are very hard to come by. I searched for over 2 years before I found this very cool short bed roll bar. The seller was so helpful and he built a shipping crate and worked out the logistics to get it back to Texas. Great guy! Got the seats temporarily mounted in the Comanche.. I think they look awesome! I removed and sold the bench seat and found these from another Comanche owner in San Antonio. The seats were in great shape except for a hole in the drivers side and a few vinyl panels. I took them to a local upholstery shop and had those panels replaced and the hole fixed. Comanche project fail! Well I messed up the brake line connection to the proportion valve.. cross threaded big time! I added brake fluid and bled all the calipers and tested the pedal pressure and it felt pretty good. Looked under the hood and fluid was puddled and dripping from the very front port. I made and bent all these lines and they're brand new but we're all difficult to install on the proportion valve. Thought I had it done correctly. Nope! Once I saw that fluid was leaking I noticed it was cross threaded real bad.. bit of panic, project delay, shopped for new prop valve but ultimately decided to buy a thread tap and try to recut the threads and use the same valve. (Tap 7/16x24) Once the tap showed up it turned out really easy to turn the thread by hand and made sure they were cut super clean. Hooked all the lines back up and re-bled the system.. we're back in business! Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk

This Comanche project is getting exciting.. Time to lube it up! Cheapo gear oil temporarily in the front and the good stuff for the rear 8.8. Also added Yukon friction modifier for the limited slip. Drilled and tapped the new location for the Comanche front brake line mounts. Went with Rusty's Off Road extended brake lines front and rear drop line. Got them all hooked up and ready for fluids! Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk

While beefing up the Comanche front end, I decided on the Dirtbound off-road high clearance steering and Rusty's HD Track Bar. Got everything painted and installed. Still have some steering adjustment to make but for now it's at a high awesome level! Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk
