  1. Really cool truck! Congratulations and great job on the build! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  2. Morning! I got it from an older gentleman that lived near Martinsville, VA via craigslist then set up a transport & had it shipped to TX. I must have been confused when i said West VA.. it had a Univ of WV key chain and my brain just automatically went there.. sorry about that mistake on my part Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  3. It's been a little while since i posted and just got the thread updated with my two previous posts a few minutes ago.. We're making progress on multiple projects and rebuilding the transfer case just got checked off. Installed a teraflex slip yoke eliminator kit and cleaned everything up. Found we had needle bearings and had to get those pushed out for the new shaft to work. That set us back about 3 hours.. the 2hour project turned into 5 but well worth it since in the background my dad was smoking pork ribs for dinner when we were done! 4. Last weekend, i continued grinding through the spot welds until my brother arrived. Then we took out the transfer case. Hoping to get a slip yoke eliminator kit installed Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  5. We knew getting into the floorboards was gonna stink. Started with a little 101+coke and off we went. Drilling and prying drilling and prying over and over. With rust the spot welds are very sneaky and sometimes hard to find. I had to go inspector holmes on the last one, you can see it hanging on with the blue arrow. I broke out the telescopic dental type mirror so i could see under the lip. For cutting the welds the blair spot weld cutter was so good. I highly recommend! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  6. Is that your Comanche? Nice upholstery on the bench! Is that an aftermarket cover or a reupholster job? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  7. Earlier we removed the bench seat, took out interior panels, the 4wd shifter bezel and the vinyl mat. We've been dreading that there would be really bad rust underneath. It wasn't as bad as we thought. Just 3 rust holes that will need some attention. Repairing floorpans is a tough job but we'll work on it till its done! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  8. Thanks Pete! You're exactly right, we ended up getting it popped out and found the 2nd hidden screw Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  9. Do any of you fellas know how to safely remove the 4wd mini console?.. were ready to pull up the mat and check out the floorpans. Definitely don't want to crack it Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  10. Finally got back on the H.O. project.. we mocked up the Ford 8.8 axle under the Comanche, snugged down the ubolts and took a few measurements for the new driveshaft.. we also tried on the new tires! Much more to do but really cool to see some progress! Barnes 4wd Spring over axle Ford 8.8 kit Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  11. I might be interested in the TCase skid if the OP isn't.. if i have an aftermarket crossmember? Ive never seen how the skids connect and cover Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  12. Looks like a great mj and your lift and tires look good! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  13. Sweet! To connect them, do the originals pop off and the 97+ simply pop back in the same way or does a mod have to be done? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  14. Good job Swamp! It's gonna be awesome Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  15. Good deal brother! Look forward to the updates Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  16. That would be sweet! Is installing the fold fwd mechanism pretty staright forward? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  17. Good hunting buddy of ours, manages a highway road company. We went into his shop on the weekend and worked on our hunting vehicles. I brought the Comanche's new wheels and tires to get mounted. Purchased these months ago. Went with the Mickey Thompson MTZ 285/75/16 and Pro Comp 16x8s steel.
  18. Swampy.. just a fantastic build and your positive attitude throughout is awesome! Working on vehicles can be frustrating to say the least but you tackled everything that came your way and have put together a very solid MJ! and It'll probably get better along the way! Nice Work!
  19. Oh i got a welder and a cutting wheel! Lol! Ain't scared to make it work! I've just never messed with seat mechanisms and sliders before. Once I get finished with the rear.. I'll be moving to the cab.. seats might be later in the project but might as well start asking around now! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  20. Thanks Hornbrod! Those look so good! Do you thing those are the best type of seats to seek after and put money and effort into? I've read before that the best xj years for the comanche swap are 89-94' Is that right? Could I expand those years as I'm looking?
  21. Thanks.. Hornbrod just let me know they are from the laredo versions of the XJ and MJ. I'm in Houston Let me know if you find some! I'll start looking as well..Thanks!
  22. Thanks KrustyB! What are the seats officially called I'm talking about so i can call them the right thing as I'm asking around and searching? These ... Another question if you don't mind.. I'm not familiar with how the tracks and sliders work. On your mounts, i'd get seats and brackets and then remove the xj floor mount and mount the sliding mechanism to your mj floor mount? I appreciate any advice and direction bud! Thanks! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  23. Anyone have mounts and sliders and assembly for Comanche bucket seats? I have a great bench seat and mounts but I'm really drawn to the buckets for some reason. I don't have to make the swap but id be all over it if i could? Ultimate goal would be the side wings style buckets, i think from the Eliminator or 2 door Cherokee but with the Comanche brackets. I'm in Houston. Let me know if you might have a lead. Thanks! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  24. Hey Pete M! Do you have a part number or maybe a link to the vent bolt that is holding your vent tube and T for the brake lines? I'm working on my 8.8 swap and even though that's a minor detail, I still need to figure it out. Did you plug the original vent on the passenger side? I'm assuming yours is an 8.8 too? Did you tap the hole in the axle tube?
  25. Sweet truck Swampy! Wendy has a great stance and seems like 6" of lift was perfect for the 36s. Do you get any rub? Is there a build thread? I'm interested about the seat swap to buckets using the bench brackets. I'm torn with mine, i have a perfectly good bench in great shape but for some reason, I'm really drawn to the buckets!
