We found the remaining master cylinder line from a Cherokee and got it installed and that finishes the load sensing valve delete project! Then we rolled out into the driveway and pressure washed the junk and gunk off the frame so we can get started with rust prevention.

Happy Independence Day! (yesterday) Got some work done on the Manche. We are doing the load sensing valve delete, disassemble the Ebrakes, remove the drive shaft etc.. We followed Kryptronics write up on the process to change out the proportioning valve from a Jeep YJ, i used a 1994 (i believe). Here's a link to the thread https://comancheclub.com/topic/54855-load-sensing-valve-delete-yj-prop-valve-recipe/?tab=comments#comment-560990 We got it almost all the way done, fought with disconnecting the lines from the current prop valve, they were all really tough and in a pretty tight spot. We absolutely mangled one of the flare nuts, so that line will have to be replaced along the way to finish it the project. We used a 3/16 adapter to couple the rear lines together once we removed the valve. I'd offer the valve up for someone here but it is minced rust meat.. no good and unfortunately, will be discarded. We are replacing the rear ebrake cable for new ones the match up to the ford 8.8 so we removed the existing that didnt work anyway. We will also be doing a slip yoke eliminator and new drive shaft so we went ahead and disconnected the current. It was a good project day, it was pouring raining so it worked perfect to have some garage time, beers and working with my brother and hanging with our parents.

What are these little spacer looking things that the bed sat on? They were in terrible shape. What are good replacements for those when we put the bed back on? Washers? Or can you find real replacements?

last weekend my brother and i tackled the first major projects.. In the June Texas heat everything about it was a little tougher that day. We removed the bed & remove the holy gas tank. We fought the bed bolts all afternoon, broke the middle two studs and couldn't find the rears. Taking the bed off was supposed to be easy..lol. didn't want to, but we removed the bumper and receiver hitch mounts and bam.. rear bolts were hidden by the mounts. Got em off, unhooked everything with gas tank, filler hoses, muffler hanger etc and it came right off.

Bought some brand new 16x8s and unfortunately at the price point i wanted to stay at, i couldn't find any that were matte black. I roughed up the glossys and gave them a few coats.. Perfect!

A few weeks ago we did the big reveal! Bought the Ford 8.8 limited slip axle at the junk yard.. we suspected from the vehicle it came from, but were not sure exactly if its the preferred beafy 31 spline or a normal 29 spline axle shaft.. once we take this cover off, we'll find out!

I'm going to need a few more months with my '91. It's in progress.. I'll update my build thread as soon as I can organize some pics and descriptions. Maybe we will be considered when it gets closer! -
Power Steering pump replacement ?
rosco11 replied to davidh190's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sure! Are you using the tapatalk app for access to the club forum or using your main internet browser? Tapatalk is the easiest by far to add pictures. You simply start a thread and in the body of the thread there is a button to attach pictures or files etc.. you push that button and it accesses your phones picture library. Select the picture you want or multiples and hit send. Give them a minute to load and attach into the body of your message and once they load, hit the Go button or arrow or whatever is the enter button on your app. They should easily post in the thread, a reply within a thread or even a PM. Is this helpful? Give it a shot in the test section of the forum! -

What did you pay for seats and console? I'm trying to work a deal with a guy that has a 91xj for the buckets and console. -
Heck yeah man.. I figured 30 bucks was better than the time to JY some used ones! I hope they work out as good as mine did, I used a dead blow poly hammer to tap the clips the final little bit in place..fyi

Thanks Skorpyo! They we're pretty easy to get off, once you get one clip broke or popped loose, the pieces just slide right off (pretty much) even after 27 years of being on there. Mine are chrome or maybe stainless like Hornbro says, they could be cleaned up really nice either way.. or prepped and painted

My project yesterday got a little side-tracked when my dog got scared by the air compressor coming on. Once I started with the air sprayer, he took off and my mom and i had to track him down in the neighborhood.. Luckily some nice folks were playing with their dogs and mine decided to join in. They read the tag on his collar and called me right then. So thankful! So back to work.. my windshield trim clips are broken and the trim was half hanging on. I removed it and going to try and get the rest of the clips. I want to add a soft rubber black trim for the later Cherokee.. 95+ I believe. Has anyone used that one instead of the hard pieces and clips? I believe ill post up these chrome trim pieces in the clsssifieds if anyone is interested. I'll get the new molding and see if its gonna work. The original owner must have reinstalled the windshield and set it too low to be able to reinstall new clips. We'll make it work somehow!
