  1. On my 88 4.0 I removed and replaced the alternator from the bottom.
  2. Yep from rusty's and the PO changed the rear end out with one from an 86 so who knows what rear spring I have in there.LOL
  3. The reason I mentioned testing it first with just the front is that when I installed my lift I got 3" up front but the AAL only gave me 1" in the back and the back is still about 1.5" taller than the front. I figured his front springs may be sagged a little if they are old. Then he could lift the back to match. I don't like the nose high look myself.
  4. My 3" kit with an add-a-leaf only raised the rear 1" and it sits about level and looks good. I would put the front springs on and see how it looks and if it needs alittle in the back put some longer shackles on the back.
  5. I don't care much for the Optima. I am not familiar with Banner but we use the Varta in the machines my company imports from europe and they are good batteries no Varta sales here in the USA.
  6. Is he talking about using a grand cherokee 4.0?
  7. Do you have the bracket that was from the ax15 trans or are you using the one from the ba10?
  8. I think the t-case linkage is specific to each trans.
  9. so my grille guard is not stock but it is usable with a stock bumper, not sure if that's what you meant.. Anyway, I have a warn Trans4mer grille guard center, with the brush guards, and winch carrier. the trans4mer has several parts that can be added on or removed whenever you want. Yep thats what I'm talking about.
  10. I think they all would need a vent. My 5 speed 4x4 trans started life as 2wd but the vent tube connecteds to the top of the bell housing.
  11. A lot of good jeeps went to cash for clunkers. : (
  12. I thought all TJ wheels were 15". I know the majority of them are. Most are 15 but Rubicon were 16. I think some of the last few years of Cherokee had 16" wheels too.
  13. The pressure built slowly, but since I didn't have a pressure cap on it (I had the tester on it) it kept building. I get that part. The tester instructions said to turn the engine off before the pressure got to 30 psi. So, if the cap let go at 16, it would have never gotten to 25-30...it'd just blow the pressure...and coolant into the overflow...right !!? Thats correct it will raise normally with temperature and the cap will allow the pressure to release. I see in your signature you have an 88 4.0 is this the truck your working on? Is this the factory cooling system or have you converted to the later cooling system?
  14. Did the pressure rise very fast to 20-25 psi or did it take a little time? If the pressure rises as soon as you start the engine this indicates compression from the cylinders getting into the water.
  15. Found my answer on the Olimpic website. It will not fit stock bumpers. 610 - Front End Guards Easily bolts into existing mounting holes in TJ, LJ, YJ, CJ, O.E.M. bumpers. Does not install on Cherokee O.E.M. Bumper. Cherokee install reguire Olympics Rock Bumper 530-15X or 533-15X. Installing on TJ, LJ, YJ, CJ with Olympics 530 and 533 Rock Bumpers requires some drilling . Manufactured from 3/8” solid steel with cross bars made from 2 1/2” round heavy wall steel tubing. Pre-drilled for easy installation of tow hooks. Your choice of chrome plate or three powder coated finishes. For added style and headlight protection we recommend adding 670 Brush Guard, sold separately.
  16. http://www.quadratec.com/products/12101_110X_PG.htm I hound this one that I like and it lists it for Cherokee but I'm not sure if it will actually fit. Anyone have any experience with this product?
  17. Hi guys, Lets see some pictures of brush guards on stock front bumpers. I would like to find a simple old school brush guard but can't get the parts store to find one. Is any company still selling them? I may try to make one. Thanks,
  18. Eagle is correct swap the trans and t-case together unless the 4x4 trans has something wrong with it.
  19. I think that sounds good for an older engine what were you hoping for? And the instructions sound correct to me. Also how long did you crank for each cylinder?
  20. I use the same just don't use a lot of pressure or speed and it will be fine. I also use a little brake parts cleaner on a rag to take off the residue.
  21. Thats what I did to my trans and its working fine very simple. One of the members sold me just the tail housing from a 4x4 trans way easier to ship.
  22. If the tank is missing or cracked just get one from a mj or xj at the jy. It should only be a few dollars.
