1990 Rebirth ('97 Conversion)
Justin_k replied to Rymanrph's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I"m really liking the truck, I like the clear turn signals and markers. The lift sits it at a good height. Are you planning on offroading it? Or was the lift just for the "cool factor" :brows: -
I pump gas as an after school job. I guess it's a good thing I own a jeep and know how to open a gas lid. :brows: It's not that hard to ask if you can't open it
-
Here's the way I see it. Your truck is around 20 years old, stuff is going to start goinjg wrong. What's gonna stop a pathfinder from having the same problems? I bought a cherokee that had the $#!& beat outta it, then it was lifted, and then beat on again. I basically rebuilt it (other then powertrain you name it it's been fixed) Was it costly? Yes, but I now have a vehicle that will do me for another 20+ years, so in the long run it is a good investment.

Do you have subs? If so buy a capacitor I did and it helped (in my cherokee). Does it complety reboot (radio channels etc) If so run a larger constant power wire, or try a new ground solved my problem. (Comanche)

I really like it. Stands out alot better, kinda sets of the truck.

2nd post...end link question?????
Justin_k replied to STERLING STINGER's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
ZJ ones. What i'm using on a 4.5'' lift and fit about perfect -
mine does that. I just can't roll it down past a certain point or it jams. try pulling up on the window while rolling and see if yours is the same as mine.
-
I'd be scared to take that offroad, great work

Can I borrow your horseshoe? Wish I had that kind of luck

COming from a teenager, DO NOT buy a done up vehicle, especially if it was done up by a teenager chances are it will have been bag drove (except mine :brows: ) Your best bet would have been to buy a stock csr drove by some old man, I learned this lesson the hard way.

Was looking for a chevy pickup for my first truck. My dad suggested a Jeep as they get better fuel mileage (They don't as I now know.) Looked at YJ's for the longest time, but they where all selling for a lot of money. We started looking at cherokees as they where alot cheaper. Bought my first cherokee and fell in love. Loved it so much I bought another one as a 4x4 and had an accident that wrecked it. Decided I wanted a comanche so I traded my 1981 olds cutlass with a blown motor and my 1980 chevy with a rebuilt 350 for my comanche. 1989 Pioneer LWB 4x4 metric ton with a 5'' lift and 33's. Owner said it had a dana 35 but it was metric ton. I went and looked and hardly could contain my excitement as I saw a dana 44. 8) Sorry for the novel.

Hicktown-Jason Aldean Truck got stuck- Corb Lund (no Jeep's mentioned but good song all the same) Rough and ready-Trace Adkins Pickup man- Joe Diffie Hillbilly Deluxe- Brooks & Dunn All country, but thats what sounds best in my comanche for some reason :dunno:

Awesome thank you

Hey So I am looking for a wiring diagram for a '91 cherokee 4.0 4x4, anybody have one or know where to get one? Only one I can find is in a FSM and is $120
-
If you drove a toyota you wouldn't have been smart enough to shut the key off :rotf:
-
 :Canadaflag:
-
Mines one of 3 within 49 km radius and Mine is the only 4x4 one
-
Price seems high. Bought a 74? J10 for $400 (360,turbo 400, Dana 20). The 4x4 didn't work. P.O had but on a 2" body lift and some bfg mud terains, and then parked it because of the 4x4 problem. (cracked vaccuum line goin to transfercase)

88pioneer pointed out where the fuel pressure regulator is located, on the front of the fuel rail, and YES you need the regulator to control pressure. You should be getting 31psi at the test port, 39psi with the pressure regulator dis-connected. ok thanks The fuel pump relay in on the B-tower, on the right fender, the second from the front. Thanks, mine weren't marked. You also have a ballast resistor mounted on the left front fender, the white porcelain looking thing, that's has a pair of orange/black tracer wire feed in series thru it. I have already bypassed the resistor. So.........what are your goals with pulling all the vacuum lines out, and running an XJ tank in the bed????? :dunno: :hmm: I pulled the lines when I had the header panel off as I didn't know I needed them (Thinkin H.O.) I am putting a xj tank in due to mine having multiple holes, and not having a spare comanche one. Also........check you tank ground, to the "headache rack" :dunno: run a ground back to the engine ground stud and you'll know you have ground. Tank ground is good as headache rack is grounded right to the negative battery terminal as suggested. thanks for all the help
-
So I started putting an xj fuel tank in the box. I am not gettin power now. I have a good ground (to the headache rack). I think it might be a fuse or relay, could anybody point me in the right direction? Also where is the pressure regulator thats kicks the pump out after a certain psi? Thanks again Justin

Checking u-joints and bearings
Justin_k replied to LarryH88bt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
For U joints just check for free play in them, You will be able to feel the play. -
And now for the recent: -Couldn't get an Aussie due to them being on back order, but the guy gave me a lock right for the same price, it's installed in the carrier. But found out I needed new axle seals. -Got the exhaust just about finished ned one more weld. -Got most of the wirin done, P.O. lit it on fire and didn't bother rewiring lights. -Found out my fuel pump is screwed, so I am in the process of trying to make a tank out of a '89 ford F150 fit. (if it doesn't I'll put a tank in out of an old cherokee) -Need a shift linkage for the AX15 due to using it elsewhere. -Still need rear shock mounts. -Re installed the closed cooling system again as the other radiator for open conversion leaked like crazy. -Got some different LCA's due to P.O. "modifying them to minimize tire rub" :shake: Pics when I swap them out. Sorry for the lack of pics but cannot find the camera

Put the new manifold. If you "massage" a little a H.O. manifold will bolt right up. Also: Bolted on some newer Rancho rs3000's, Got my wiring working for the most part. Cleaned throttle body, Extended the wires on the O2 sensor so as they will work on a Cherokee downpipe. Took about half as long to put the manifold in as it did to take it out Doesn't seem like much when I write it down, but it was all very time consuming. All this has took past in the last 3 months, just never got around to making a buildup
-
Well I pulled the manifold off...biggest PITA job I have done so far (yes, that is including doing the waterpump) Can anyone spot a problem?
