  1. I don't know what fab skills/tools you guys got but if you need any welding done hit me up. Anything I don't have in my shop I have at my other job.
  2. Set up looks to be stock shafts. I'm sure it's a stock dana30 with just those aftermarket outer seals.
  3. Those are aftermarket outer seals. They keep junk from getting into the axle tubes. Inner seals require the removal of the differential to replace. You have a leaking inner seal, that's why fluid is coming out of it. It's cheap fix, but requires complete axle reassembly to fix.
  4. Yes I'm hoping to have a few cut up by next weekend.
  5. Almost thought you bought your old silver MJ back. That thing looks pretty straight, but if you do decide to hack it up for parts let me know. Think I mentioned I need a long bed and cab corners.
  6. The later model ones are a shorter but the mounts to the roof are the same. You'll have to drill holes for the visor clips. I swapped an OHC in my MJ and I documented the visor swap as well.
  7. I don't mind tackling the small metal and vinyl projects, but between my fulltime job and my side business plus trying to raise a family I got my hands full right now. But time will tell. In the mean time I know JCR and Dirtbound make nice ones. Or are you looking for something more OEM replacement?
  8. Yeah I'm still here. Maybe we can link up soon.
  9. Sounds good. Let me know if you need to cut out sheet metal and weld new stuff in. You will have to swing by for a beer one weekend when I'm tearing into the MJ again.
  10. Damn dude where do you find these deals. I'm gonna need another long bed and cab corners in my future and I'm thinking I'm gonna need to by a donor MJ to get it done.
  11. I know I'm following in your footsteps a little bit. The SEM color chart and cap colors are useless so I started to just buy and try. Anyone who wants a can of any of the SEM grays I used (beside the graphite) I'd be happy to sell it to you at a 50% discount. 😀😀😀
  12. So I'm still trying to narrow down the oem dark charcoal/gray. Because I'm a sadist I'm going through the list of SEM grays. From left to right (bottom to top): OEM Rustoleum dark gray SEM medium slate gray SEM thomas bus gray SEM presidio SEM graphite Another angle since grays can change drastically depending on the light I'm still not satisfied with a match for the OEM dark charcoal. But since I'm running 97 XJ doors/panels I'm going to use the SEM graphite to repaint my MJ interior trim (instead of the SEM medium gray).
  13. I was so happy to snag a dark charcoal lower dash piece at my pick and pull from a 95 XJ. Mines cracked in the center and I've been looking for a good one for awhile. Got it home just to realize it's missing the ball cooler vent! Lame. When did Chryco change this?
  14. I got 2 pieces cut up to test with. I'll see if I can't get them in the press brake this weekend. Still looking for a donor assembly!
  15. Check a few posts through this thread and you can see pictures of the "clip".
  16. Thanks. I'm always trying to make it easier for anyone who wants to follow my path, or at least parts of it, on this build. I sourced the LEDs from onewaylight.com they also have MJ B-pillar lights (which I purchased) so that's one way to get some additional light in the cab without extensive mods.
  17. Figued while the headliner was out I'd put some soundproofing material on the roof. I think Dynamat Xtreme is still supposed to be king. I've used it in my XJ with great results, but didnt really want to spend the money for it in the MJ (already far over budget). Did a little bit of homework and decided to use Kilmat this go around, seems to be extremely similar to Dynamat for a fraction of the price. Got it off amazon and it's made in Russia so be careful, application may cause foreign spying and election tampering 🙄🙄🙄🙄😀 Finished up the OHC install along with a reupholstered headliner. Also replaced all the bulbs with LEDs. Another step closer to wrapping up the interior mods. Still working on finding a good color match for the interior panels tho....
  18. SOUNDPROOFING (OPTIONAL) Figued while the headliner was out I'd put some soundproofing material on the roof. I already had applied a POR15-like roll-on to prevent any further surface rust. There are many options on the market nowadays for sound proofing/deadening material. Got it off amazon and it's made in Russia so be careful, application may cause foreign spying and election tampering 🙄🙄🙄🙄😀 REINSTALL HEADLINER AND OHC Before I installed everything I replaced the bulbs in the OHC, sunvisors, and courtesy (kick panel) lamps with LEDs. Onewaylight.com was having a going out of business sale so I took the opportunity to purchase a few of their kits. After that it's just popping the headliner back in place, then installing the sun visors and OHC. TEMPERATURE SENSOR See the photos for installation location. I ran my wiring through the passenger headlamp and along the relay wiring on the passenger side of the engine bay. I drilled a 9/16 hole and installed a grommet through the firewall under the blower motor then pulled my wire loom through. I won't tell you it's the prettiest looking wiring (especially with my 97 power doors) but at least I can hide it behind the kick panel. FINAL WRAP UP Well if you did it right and all the equipment works correctly you should now have a functioning OHC. Its awesome having a dome light, compass, and thermometer. I have not tested the compass for functionality, I heard there is a way to calibrate it, maybe someone else can chime in? I was also able to reset the spring for the sunglasses holder so that functions as well. If you pay close attention you may notice there is a slight gap between the middle of the OHC and headliner. I tried to pad this area with more Kilmat to close the gap but was still left with about a 1/4" gap. Whatever, I'll use it to hide my drugs 😵😵😵😵😀
  19. Thanks for the info! Yes, let me know if you ever find yourself on the WA/ID border.
  20. 1989 Jeep Comanche 4.0L (presumably, had a swapped in HO block when I bought it) / AW4 (column shift) / NP231 / Dana 30 front / Dana 44 rear / Long bed Build date: ... Current location: Spokane Valley, WA Status: Runs but not street legal yet Notes: Came with transmission cooler, gas tank skid, bench seat, light/dark charcoal (gray) interior. Truck was pretty modified (very cheaply I may add) when I bought it. Looks to have all signs of the metric ton package? As ugly and beat up as it was when I got it it's so rust free that I decided to restore it. When I bought it: What it looks like now:
  21. Sounds like you wanna at least jack up the truck and pull the tires and look at the brakes. Looking the calipers is a good idea but look at the rear drums too. Inspect the master cylinder and trace the lines through the truck. Look for any leaks or any shoddy connections/workmanship. Bleeding the brakes sounds like a good idea as you mentioned. Hopefully theres just a ton of air in the lines.
  22. Update: I got the .DXF drawn up so now it can be cut on a CNC table. Attaching the file to this thread for future use. Will check back in next week once I have a chance to get them cut. mjhandle02.dxf
  23. Are you saying it's a braking issue?
  24. Got it. Appreciate that it's a real deal blueprint too. Ok CC, I will see what I can do. I will tell you that if I build them they won't be 100% the same, for starters they would be steel not stainless. And I don't have the equipment to make the bend at the bottom of the handle, but I can make all the other bends. I will radius the edges tho so it won't look so blocky. I'm going to try 14ga first because I have that on hand. I have a few tailgates I can use to test functionality of a "new" handle. Does anyone have a broken handle assembly they can send me with the handle removed that I can use for fit up? I will of course return it when I know I can/cannot build the handles.
