  1. Bummer. see if your other local store can cross the Napa part numbers.
  2. Nice stuff!!
  3. Go to Napa. You've got the part numbers. Re-use the spacer.
  4. Got a light?
  5. Nothing special. Oh well, first one with a carburetor I've seen in Louisiana, and unless someone's VIN decoder says otherwise, it was listed as an 86. EDIT: Why do I bother? The throttle body injection looks like a carb. It is a round air horn but if you look into it there are one or more injectors inside. You aren't the first one to think it was a carb because of the similar appearance. Correct. That's a throttle body on the engine in the photo. Not a carb.....Sometimes people get confused.
  6. Yep. The very first Comanches went to the dealerships for Parts/Service vehicles. White with yellow 2 tone paint job like Renault's racing colors. I have a hard time swallowing the "carb" deal as it would have violated established and approved emissions requirements for 1986.
  7. You're the only person I've ever heard that from. I had the first Comanche that came into the dealership in late 1985. TBI.
  8. If you own a Renx Jeep, click on the link in my signature.
  9. Not a carb. It's a fuel injection throttle body. aka TBI. Only Comanche to come with a carb was the 2.8 V6. The card/metal plate was for running in an old credit card imprinter for warranty info. Was in the owners/warranty manual in a little slot IIRC.
  10. Me? No sir....unless your hearing popping...... I can't hear any popping with the tinfoil wrapped tightly around my head!!!
  11. You should be fine. The instructions were ACCURATE, just difficult for some to follow. For some reason people gravitated to the "trans side" plug when working on engine/driveability issues.
  12. I avoid them by wrapping tin foil around my head and fashioning myself a hat.
  13. Probably could. Get one for a 91 or thereabouts.
  14. Seems your MJ needs a good dose of "noggin pokin'". That's where you have someone turn the wheels from lock to lock while you poke your noggin underneath and listen to.find the pop noise. Here's an inspiring quote from a guy named chipmaker: Chipmaker says: “Way more problems get solved by using your five senses under your hood rather than your ten fingers on a keyboard”
  15. Yep. 88 AMC 2.46L 4 cylinder TBI. Nothing special.
  16. Jeep stopped using the front axle disconnect around 1992 or 1993, so ALL XJs from then up to the last one built in 2001 didn't have it -- and XJs with the Selec-Trac transfer case didn't have it. In theory, yes, it probably costs a bit in fuel economy. But you're not driving a sleek, aerodynamic SST, you're driving a brick on wheels. In the real world, you'll never notice the difference. True^^ story.
  17. You checked them again?
  18. Lock it in using the write-up from Pete M.
  19. Nah. I just put a bit of RTV on each side of the old gasket.
  20. I've got a vac diagram. Let me look at it. If you have vacuum running to the transfer case switch (red), and the (yellow) line running from the transfer case switch to the light actuating switch below the coolant bottle, along with the black or blue vent line with valve left alone, and eliminating the green line from the transfer case to the front axle. I'd plug it. Might work.,
  21. The CAD was such a worthless, unreliable and costly system that they ditched it mid 91. There is no measurable loss in MPG.
  22. Nice neighbors or no neighbors? LOL.
  23. Here's an excellent solution to your problem and will future issues when you're depending on your 4wd to work. You don't need a light as your shift lever indicates transfer case position. http://comancheclub.com/topic/17377-cad-fix-1/
