  1. I know you'll keep us informed....
  2. In 4wd, yes.. I think you should give those joints a good lube and looking over no matter what. On a side note, check to see if your exhaust pipe is touching the trans crossmember due to worn engine and/or trans mounts.

  4. I think you need to inspect the rear u-joints on the front driveshaft, along with the u-joints in the rear shaft to make sure they're tight. The only way to properly lube the rear joints on the front shaft is to remove it from the transfer case and bring it down where you can access all the fittings.
  5. Very possible. YOu replaced u-joints on the front driveshaft or the rear?
  6. Because the front driveshaft has bad or poorly lubricated joints?
  7. Both. You need to pull the driveshaft down from the transfer case and grease the center pin with a "needle". I'm guessing the rear joints didn't get greased properly since they're such a b*@$£ to get to.
  8. Nope. The rear u-joints and the center pin/housing at the transfer case end of the FRONT driveshaft.
  9. Did you get the center pin between the 2 rear u-joints with the grease needle?
  10. It's all a guess until the OP does some noggin pokin' on HIS Jeep.
  11. The driveshaft is balanced. I'd be making sure the u-joints are good. Have you ever lubed the rear joints on the front shaft?
  12. No worries. OP just needs to get to work at it since he's been provided with all the info he could ever ask for.
  13. Nope. Loss of vacuum due to one or more faulty components in a poorly engineered system can surely cause problems though.
  14. What 50 cent sending unit? Post #3 gives a comprehensive list of all the things it could be, in order. OP just needs to get to work at diagnosing it.
  15. When the front axle disengages.
  16. Pretty normal. You have to tap the gas and let off driving in a straight line to get the bind out of the drivetrain.
  17. Exactly. Simple....
  18. It tells you when the CAD disengages.
  19. The light is unnecessary as the lever and indicator in the cab tell where you're at anyway.
  20. Not an uncommon problem to find the pushrod from the booster to the master cylinder is adjusted improperly, especially when either of them are not original.
  21. You could put a check valve in the line to the vacuum operated electric switch....
  22. Thanks for your post. We’re here to help but you must understand that all Jeeps are not the same. In order for us to give you more accurate advice and help, we must know the following, along with detailed information as to the symptoms/problems etc: Year Model Engine Transmission Transfer case
  23. It ain't the oil pump for sure. Here's how to find oil leaks: I'd be looking up ABOVE first, and VERIFYING the source of the oil leak YOURSELF. Everybody, who doesn't own or have to pay for or perform your vehicle repairs, loves to poke their noggin UNDER the Jeep and come out bearing the false bad news that your RMS is leaking. Many mechanics, friends, people on Jeep forums who can’t see your Jeep from where they’re at, and good old Uncle Bob seem to enjoy telling you it’s the rear main seal. Has a catastrophic ring to it, doesn’t it? A simple leak at the back of the valve cover or other source could produce the same symptoms. You don’t need to be a mechanic to figure this out. If you have good eyesight and a dim flashlight, you’re good to go on your own. Don't jump on the RMS/oil pan gasket bandwagon right off the bat. Almost any oil leak on your 4.0 is gonna drip from the RMS area for two simple reasons. First off, the engine sits nose-up and any oil will run back to the RMS area. Secondly, the RMS area is also the lowest point on the engine. Simple physics and the old plumber's adage apply here. "$hit flows downhill". Valve cover gasket, oil pressure sending unit, oil filter adapter seals and distributor gasket, in that order, have to be eliminated as possibilities first. 24. Yeah. I thought that was extremely important to you.
