  1. The "sync generator" inside a Renix dizzy only helps the ECU to fire the injectors sequentially. Has nothing to do with spark or ignition timing. I have never had a driveability issue caused by a faulty sync generator. Only reason I ever replaced them or a dizzy over the years is because I stumbled across it not functioning while scanning the vehicle. Unplug it and see if you notice a difference.
  2. Great job of sticking with it!!. I would suspect the coil/ICM at this point. A Renix will run with the dizzy unplugged........
  3. Take it apart and clean/lube/inspect it. Super easy.
  4. Very nice. What gears do you have?
  5. Normal behavior of a faulty TPS or sensor ground circuit. Get busy on the Tips as suggested first and then test the TPS.
  6. These 2 guys ^^^ know what they're talking about.
  7. Is it that simple? I see this thread going to at least 8 pages.............Yep, it's that simple. Since the only difference between old and new motor is going to be age, all the gaskets for the original motor amc put in it will work for the swap. And no, I wasn't explaining that for your benefit cruiser. Just tossing it out there. I was being facetious. I know you're correct. But, given the past of these threads, I had to throw that out there.
  8. Finally a good use of government spending........
  9. Click on the link in my signature and do posts 1,3,4, and 5. My money is on a bad TPS. See post 8 after you've done the others.
  10. Is it that simple? I see this thread going to at least 8 pages.............
  11. Push button. Pull cable toward passenger side as far as it will go. Release button. Hop in cab and floor it and release the pedal without starting the engine. You are now done.
  12. I bet it would. IIRC, I coiled up extra power wires when I did the XJs.
  13. Enjoy. Many thanks to Blue88Comanche for doing that for us.
  14. I was talking about the harness also.
  15. Cousin WunHungLow had a surplus of yellow insulation left over from his bomb making days.
  16. BLACK split loom and extra careful routing......
  17. I've installed more than 4 Putcos with no issues after years of use. My theory is that the grounds were insufficient and that caused the relays to get hot and fail. That, and people locating the relays so moisture could get in.Bare metal ground points!!
  18. Like this? http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/free-quick-fix-41821/
  19. I've installed over 4 sets. The only one I upgraded bulbs on was my MJ. Autopal housings with some Phillips 100/90 bulbs I had laying around.
  20. Someone on another forum a year or so ago did a test of lumens on stock lamps before and after the supplemental harness. 35% improvement with just the harness.
  21. Interesting. Maybe that's a later block in his Jeep? I've used 92 blocks in a Renix and they had 2 plugs.
  22. I've never seen a 4.0 block that both holes weren't tapped and plugged.
  23. Yeah, Don. But it does appear that the front bung is not there, or something is snapped off in it? You could use either one.
  24. The one on the right is threaded. 5/16" square drive plug.
