  1. Well, it appears that we care more about fixing his Jeep than he does.............
  2. I'd be looking up ABOVE first, and VERIFYING the source of the oil leak YOURSELF. Everybody, who doesn't own or have to pay for or perform your vehicle repairs, loves to poke their noggin UNDER the Jeep and come out bearing the false bad news that your RMS is leaking. Many mechanics, friends, people on Jeep forums who can’t see your Jeep from where they’re at, and good old Uncle Bob seem to enjoy telling you it’s the rear main seal. Has a catastrophic ring to it, doesn’t it? A simple leak at the back of the valve cover or other source could produce the same symptoms. You don’t need to be a mechanic to figure this out. If you have good eyesight and a dim flashlight, you’re good to go on your own. Don't jump on the RMS/oil pan gasket bandwagon right off the bat. Almost any oil leak on your 4.0 is gonna drip from the RMS area for two simple reasons. First off, the engine sits nose-up and any oil will run back to the RMS area. Secondly, the RMS area is also the lowest point on the engine. Simple physics and the old plumber's adage apply here. "$hit flows downhill". Valve cover gasket, oil pressure sending unit, oil filter adapter seals and distributor gasket, in that order, have to be eliminated as possibilities first. Revised 02-26-2013
  3. Agreed. Could be a blown/corroded fuse to the TCU.
  4. I look at this differently. Eliminate the C101 would be my avenue.
  5. You still have the C101?
  6. 231 out of a Renix era had a vacuum switch to activate the front axle disconnect and dash light. Since mid 91 and later had no vacuum switch, but an electrical switch, perhaps that would work on your 231? That said, I could care less about dash lights with a 231. I just look at the indicator near the lever.
  7. Long wheel base, 4.0, AW4, NP 231. Was really clapped out when I got it and now it's a secondary daily driver. Resides in Prescott, Az.
  8. Make sure your grommets and tubes are in good shape. See tip 25 in the link in my signature below before modifying anything.
  9. 231 or 242 case?
  10. Many folks have one and they're great. Make sure you have the Jeep/Eagle adapter that will plug into the 2 diagnostic plugs on the passenger fender.
  11. Thanks! Not really all that bad. Most of the harnesses are a direct swap. Some adaptation required. Welcome back!!!!
  12. Doubt it's the valve cover, but what about the orifice used in the rear of the Renix valve cover?
  13. Check fuel pressure.
  14. Don't scare me like that!! LOL.
  15. Works for me.....
  16. I think I might have some.
  17. Who believes anything Bloomberg has to say anyway?
  18. Here's a link to my Tips. I've taken over maintenance of the new thread and it's completely up to date now. Many thanks to Hornbrod for maintaining it until now. http://comancheclub.com/topic/48463-cruisers-mostly-renix-tips/
  19. It goes even higher!! Has locks on it that are huge. Air operated. Google bay-lift.
  20. Needed to pressure wash under Mad Max, my newest acquisition. Like the jack? The one in the pic below is not mine, but one I got off the net.
