  1. Let's put that into perspective. The 231 is slightly stronger than the 242. If rock crawling is your thing, you MIGHT need that little bit of strength. For all other applications, it's a moot point.
  2. Could be a ton of things. As stated, check where you worked on it last. Here's something to consider doing while you're down there under the MJ: http://cruiser54.com/?p=249
  3. 0 280 155 746 Volvo injectors. Ebay.
  4. Something to consider: CAD STINKS The big issue is that the CAD system only fails when you need it the most. Kinda like when you don't realize your wiper blades need replacing until it rains.... I know somebody’s system works and he advocates keeping it stock, but my exposure to the failures is probably hundreds of times greater than his, as a result of being Service Manager at a Jeep dealership from 1980 through 1992, and being a current XJ and MJ owner. CAD stinks. Every Jeep I work on with it, I eliminate it. Guess what I find in the process? 25 year old busted vacuum lines, bloated vacuum line connectors, bad vacuum reservoirs and piping, bad transfer case vacuum switches. In other words, had the person gotten into a sticky situation and needed 4WD, they would have been screwed!!! That's the tip of the iceberg. The factory went through 3 revisions of the shift fork also. The fork issue is non-existent if you just slide it over and leave it. See the link below for complete instructions. Takes less than 1/2 hour. http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/fre...ss-91-a-38629/ ,
  5. MUCH easier with the lower dash panel removed.
  6. Check this out. It is easily tested. http://cruiser54.com/?p=50
  7. Can I ask....why????? Gene Because I was Service Manager at a Jeep dealership and had 13 Comanches as demos. If anything broke, which I knew it wouldn't, we could fix it under warranty.
  8. I've shifted into 4Hi at 80 MPH. Gotta be a legal speed somewhere.
  9. Thanks for posting back.
  10. O2 sensor has 3 wires. Black ground, Orange heater voltage, gray is output to ECU. If there is a poor ground to it or no power, it will stay in open loop. Have you "indexed" your distributor per my Tip 13? All the dipstick tube stud grounds on there and touching bare metal and not a ton of nice new paint? The Renix era XJs and MJs were built with an under-engineered grounding system for the engine/transmission electronics. One problem in particular involves the multiple ground connection at the engine dipstick tube stud. A poor ground here can cause a multitude of driveabililty issues, wasted time, failed emission tests, and wasted money replacing components unnecessarily. All the components listed below ground at the dipstick tube stud: Distributor Sync Sensor, TCU main ground, TCU “Shift Point Logic”, Ignition Control Module, Fuel Injectors, ECU main ground (which other engine sensors ground through, including the Oxygen sensor, Knock Sensor, Cruise Control and Transmission Sync signal. All extremely important stuff.
  11. Will look at the IAT reading .., I listed the O2voltage above .39-1.52 746 injectors are too rich ? What should I run then? MAP hose is fine , I have 5 spares as well .. O2 voltage should switch from .1 to 4.9 rather quickly. Do you have battery voltage to the O2 sensor's orange wire? Resistance reading at the black wire on the harness with it unplugged? 746s are too small for a stroker.
  12. You can read the IAT with the REM..... Also you can read the O2 sensor VOLTAGE. The 746s are probably not the correct injector on a stroker. Check the MAP line from throttle body to MAP first.
  13. Thanks!! that did the trick, my dumb @$$ was back assward and had every pair switched -.- runs as good as 260,000 + well let it lol Great!!!
  14. They aren't "wires". They are "fusible links". Never replace fusible links with plain wire.............
  15. That's a fusible link. It melted for a reason.
  16. You'll see the burn marks at the same time.
  17. The switch is most likely burned at the brown wire terminal.
  18. Good deal. c101. How dirty?
  19. Having a TPS for an auto is no problem. What were the results of tip 5? Ohms....
  20. www.cruiser54.com. Tips 1 through 5.
  21. Leave it to Hornbrod to ALWAYS find a way to poke at us Renix owners :rotfl2: Yeah... Considering that out of the MJ's production run from 1986 to 1992, HOs only accounted to the last 2 years of that. 5 of the 7 years were Renix.
