  1. i have been using it all the time, what haven´t noticed was that the blow by had been going up in the past 3 years
  2. i got to the store around 2 pm, put it in, did some errands, when home for lunch, drove around for another hour or so and went back home, 25-30 miles total? didn´t notice anything before lunch but after that it began to improve...
  3. yes, stop driving it and get it rebuilt... or put a 4.0, it is time...
  4. well a can of the blue stuff is in, and the results are: idle is smoother, acceleration and power seems a little higher and the blow by, the main reason i used this product... feels like 50% less... i can hold my finger on the valve easily now the idle and the blow by did improve so i give it a thumbs up
  5. remove the radiator cap and turn it on, see if there are bubbles or worse, the coolant gushes out, if so the cylinder 4 is leaking to the coolant system through the head gasket
  6. what color? white, blue?
  7. 30 psi? whoa that´s toooo low, something is really wrong there time to swap a 4.0 there
  8. that´s the other thing... seems to be running good, burns some rubber if asked to, and pulled a friends WJ without problmes not long ago... but the blow-by is just too much, you can inflate a tire with it...
  9. haven´t tested the compression but excesive blow by usually means leaks, if i can improve both, why not? besides from what i have read from now on i must use the restore with every oil change or else the benefits go away...
  10. today finally got a new filter for the MJ and new oil is in (after 2 and a half years). i took it for a ride and when i got back i noticed that theres more blow by than the last time i checked, no smoke in it, clear blowby, no oil in it now... found out that some engine restorer can lower the blowby to acceptable levels for while, ha anyone used it? i know it´ll be a temporary fix, i just want to drive my MJ a few more miles before tearing it apart for rebuild...
  11. or get one of these put it in the upper radiator hose and don't kick yourself over the overflow bottle, it can be installed anywhere but the closest to the coolant cap the better, and any bottle does the job, mine has a pepsi cola bottle and i don´t bragg about it
  12. so each pinion-ring combo is unique?
  13. i found this chart in wikipedia: where is the 3.55 ratio? also according to this mixing a 3.07 ring gear with a 3.54 pinion it gives the rare 3.31, is that correct? it´s for a homework...
  14. mmm from what i understand, the engine is overheating but the radiator is cold, then you have a coolant flow problem, maybe the water pump is dead, have you check that?
  15. wait, why do you want to switch to open system? do you have overheating problems?
  16. it´s silicone nd the tank is for propane
  17. this one is from further back and the original MJ left a plastic insert could make up for the round - square problem...
  18. there, properly installed they look good, which makes me wonder why they used custom taillights for the MJ when they could just slapped some XJ ones?
  19. my MJ has the right tail light out of an XJ...some PO glue it there, it doesn' t look bad
  20. Short bed / manual / 2WD Short bed: i like how it looks, i replaced the rear gate with a wooden one that can be used to extend the cab IF i ever have to carry something that large, i made it like that to compensate for the space the lpg tank takes, also because the original was bent, ugly and heavy... Manual: because manual is better but i won´t mind a aw4 for city driving 2WD: i like it´s simplicity and toughness, 4WD is not a must where i live but i will do the swap if i have the chance
  21. i really need a pair of those, the bench is not helping with my back problem.....
  22. most if nor all modern trannies are non sequential by design, the aw4 is a 30+ years old when electronics controls were being phased in 2nd is problematic in many transmisions, releasing a component while applying another in one perfect move was a challenge for the engineers back then, and now that i think of it would be the less used shift, going at cruse and so braking hard as to skip 3rd... that sounds like shifting quicky throught all gears at full throttle...fair enough
  23. some transmisions are not designed skip gears, at least not too quickly
  24. i know, but not all transmisions can skip gears without problems, as they are not meant to be driven without a TCU, i can't find any info about this for the aw4... ok i can guess the shift from 1<->3 can be done as they lie next to each other in the manual lever but what about 2<->4?
