do it! :D I'd have to find some place to hide it. :brows: We're already "overcrowded" 4 Jeeps 3 BMW's And her Chevy Lumina Plus 2 BMW's in storage out of state she doesn't even know about....

Hmm.... No Rebecca would shoot me.
-
I'd appreciate it. Yeah a shot basicly straight down so I can see how the "frame" sits on top of the axle. A shot from straight behind pointing down would probably also be helpful. Thanks!
-
Does anyone have any photo's of the rear WITHOUT the bed on? I'm looking for a photo looking straight down from the top over the axle.

I wheel my MJ with 35's on a D35. Now given I don't wheel as hard as I do with my XJ on 35's and the stroker (d44 rear), but I don't by any means wheel "lightly" with it either. It's held up thus far. I've even played on the rocks at the Badlands quite a bit and not had a problem with it either. It's all how you wheel and what line you pick in my opinion. Will I blow it up? Yeah probably as I don't wheel "lightly" and I've had to remind myself several times on the trail that I'm not in my XJ and to "tone it down". But I plan on wheeling with it until I break it... I've also wheeled my XJ with a D35 on 35's and a stroker motor while I'm building up my D44 and not had a problem with the axle itself. And just for proof. :brows: For reference here is a pic of Rebecca's XJ on the same face. This pic shows the steepness of it much better. I also have a video me smoking my tires on this rock face with 35's when I had my D35 in the rear for a wheeling trip, I'll see if I can find it. EDIT: Here it is. Ignore the fact I don't have reverse, thus have to keep backing all the way down. Tire smokeage is at around 2:30 into it. And yes I did get up it... :brows:

It doesn't look so bad lifted. ;)

Can't promise it's still a good one, but try 303.521.3147.

They have re-used the codes over the years for other vehicals. That is why your info is off. If you search JF and use my username in your search you'll find the correct meaning to the codes from our era used on the XJ's. EDIT: Here is the link - http://jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=235427

buying some tires and wheels

New DIY projects forum
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW replied to Pete M's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Pete, I have half a dozen or so good quality write-ups I've done over the years with high quality photo's already hosted. Let me know if you'd like them or would like to see examples. Feel free to PM me so we don't clutter up this thread. -Adam -
It's hard to compare an MJ to an XJ as the wheelbase is different, thus affecting the score. It is also relative to what degree ramp your running on. A club member at the last event had an XJ with a 3" lift and 31's scored a 533. Based on the fact you have longarms I'd say that 588 is kinda sad. Did you lift your rear tire or just stop due to the rubbing in the front fenders?

Jeepers Creepers in MI sells an updated heavy duty version. -
Wade did you not see the "day I brought it home" pics? Yeah had "HJ" on the hood and the doors.

90% of my MJ is in 1 coat and I do not have a single run in it anywhere. It's all about your technique.

My thoughts as I recently did the same. As far as the paint goes I pretty much did everything "WRONG" to get the best results. I've done my fair share of paint jobs on other vehicals, but this is the 1st time I did it via rattlecan. Here are some tips: 1) Cover any rust/bare metal with primer. 2) Do not paint w/primer over everything. The factory paint job holds just fine. 3) Sand it down smooth with a mid-grade sandpaper. Sand everything that you can to scuff it up as the paint will adhere better. 4) Try to do it in 1 coat. I got better results doing 1 thick coat than I did trying to do 2-3 coats. It takes some time to do it with 1 coat, but the end results look a TON better and it does not look like it's been rattle canned. 5) Do it in sections. It helps since your doing it in 1 coat to not try to do it all at once. Pic a panel and paint it. 6) Use a non-gloss and non-flat paint. I used a Satin and it turned out very well. Flat is hard to get a good finish with, and glass shows to much error and makes it look like a rattle can job. 7) DO NOT WET-SAND AN ALREADY PAINTED PANEL. 8) Do NOT USE A CLEAR COAT. Like I said, if you know anything about painting you'll tell me I'm crazy. This is based on my experience and anyone who's seen the paint job in person can attest to how good it looks for $30 worth of spray paint. Results... And a shot a day after the new paint...

I put this together awhile ago... http://www.greatlakesxj.com/tech/MJRearShock.htm Disclaimer: I have not confirmed every shock on here will work. This information is based on the mounting and length chart that Monroe puts out. I have included what the stock one's are as well as extended for lifted and shortened for lowered vehicals as well. This is intended to simply be used as reference, make sure you do your own research as well prior to your purchase, as I will not be held responsible for it if they do not work.

Guys I apologize that the website and forum have been down the last few days. For reason's I can not go into at this time, I had to shut the website and forum down from being accessed. I am glad to say, that I have both the forum and website back up as of 5:00PM on Friday the 9th. I have also made it up to you guys with a brand new look on our website with several added features. It's not 100% done yet, but should be in the next few days. Unfortantly I am unable (allowed) to at this time discuss the reason's about the website being down. However I hope to have all the issues in the process of being resolved and hope to have no further issues. If for some reason the issue happens again I will again have to shut it down again temporarily. Many of you who are aware of the issues please do not disclose them at this time with others until all legal issues are resolved. We are in the process as we speak to resolve them in the fastest matter. I would advise anyone who is a member of the GLXJ forum to PLEASE change your password ASAP on our forum as well as any other jeep related forum you are associated with. If you need help doing this on our forum please email me. Thank you for your support in this matter. Adam Hanson GLXJ President

He thinks those ratchet straps are going to hold that MJ to the trailer?

I swapped in a 242 into my old '88 when I did the 4.0L swap and 4wd conversion. The biggest problem I had was the TC shifter setup. The 242 and the 231 use a different setup and I had a heck of a time figuring out how to make it work. I ended up just using the 242 setup out of an XJ and with a bit of modification it worked. Also remember that the length difference between the 231 and 242 is different. So you may have to address the driveshaft issue. I went from 2wd to 4wd and needed a new one anyways so I just had one made. If your already 4wd you may be able to make it work...

NAXJA is not just a website, it's a club. It does cost quite a bit of money on a yearly basis to run a club. (I know from experience, and loose money doing it). Additionally, not all $50 goes to NAXJA, some of it goes to UFWDA as well... I haven't joined NAXJA for other reason's that do not need to be discussed here. -Lead_"I can't believe I'm sticking up for NAXJA"_Follow

Oil Pressure and Engine Options?
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW replied to GirsMJ86's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
As I stated above, I don't think it's off by much. Specifications At Idle Speed (600 rpm): 89.6 kPa (13 psi) At 1600 rpm & Higher: 255 - 517 kPa (37 - 75 psi) Oil Pressure Relief: 517 kPa (75 psi) The difference you see is probably due to a faulty sender and the "very inaccurate" gauge in the cluster. My opinion is that Eagle is reading more into the problem than is needed. Just my opinion however.... -
