Dunno hornbrod.... I've now ran 4 CSF's without issues. We have them in all our rigs and I've never had an issue with any of them. Actually I've been quite happy with the quality and performance of them. Maybe you just got a bad one, or maybe I've just been lucky and gotten 4 good ones. I'd guess the prior though... ;) -

If you replace your rad. get an all metal 3-core one. They cool better, last forever (lifetime warranty with a CSF), and are not that much more expensive. I run the CSF's in all my rigs and swear by them. Motion has them for $205 w/free shipping. http://motionoffroad.com/catalog/index. ... rers_id=43 -
my mj hates me... crank no spark

Check your CPS. I'd check it (takes 5 mins) before you replace it. I have a link on GLXJ, but the server just went down so give me a few mins and I'll get it back up for you with the link. -
NO VACUUM ACCUATOR on front axle
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW replied to twojeeps's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Actually.... 89-95 with ABS have 5-297x u-joints, all 95+ have 5-297x u-joints, all others have 5-260x u-joints. So non-ABS from 84-95 have the smaller 260x joints; meaning that the 91-95 non disco non ABS axle's have the smaller joints. -
NO VACUUM ACCUATOR on front axle
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW replied to twojeeps's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
As far as I can tell, the disco survived in XJs through 93. Then was abolished in 94. There are junkyards in car-part.com that have 92s and 93s listed as disconnects. Although there are way more 90s and 91s listed than 92/93. Rebecca's '93 XJ does not have the disco axle. Her old '90 (late 1990 build date) as well did not have the disco axle. We've also got several local guys in the club with 91's and 92's with the non-disco axle with the NP231. I personally have not seen a 90+ XJ with the NP231 with the disco axle.... Upon my research the switch was made the same time the AW4 went from 21 spline to 23 spline (1990). Rebecca's 1st XJ (1990) also had the 23 spline AW4; which somewhat to me proved this fact since her's had the non-disco axle as well. But we all know how DC is; so who really knows.... -
NO VACUUM ACCUATOR on front axle
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW replied to twojeeps's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The vac. disco D30 was only used on the Renix era (84-90) XJ's that came with any transfer case but the NP242. The non-disco was used on all year NP242 equipped XJ's and than all XJ's 91+. -
Did you use the RE kit to put the D44 up front or did you use something else???

You can get MJ shock sets here; http://motionoffroad.com/catalog/index. ... =13_28_106 The skyjackers have a $35 cash back rebate I believe going on until the end of the month.

XJ rear shocks are different than MJ shocks. Even with the bar pins removed they won't fit. I'd like to see pics of how you made them work....

It was of Joey Hand, I was there at that race. Joey is a good friend of mine. I have pics of the car in detail after the crash I'll post up if I can find them.

power steering upgrade - Durango?
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW replied to dunl's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Eh, ignore my posts above... The more I thought about it, I was thinking about the pumps not the box itself. I can confirm that the pumps are different, the boxes however are the same. I guess to many sleepless nights with a newborn is getting to me... -
power steering upgrade - Durango?
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW replied to dunl's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm not 100% sure about that.... I know when I added the AGR pump to my XJ I had to order specifically for the 4.0L. Maybe it was just an AGR thing but I think that they are a bit different. What that difference is I am not sure of. Maybe someone else can confirm??? -

I know it works on the 4.0L but I am not sure about the 2.5L. -
This post is for relevant Comanche MJ and Cherokee XJ data associated to maintenance schedules, engine id and specs, fluid capacities, and tune-up info.

I was supposed to be wheeling all weekend; but the wife didn't like that plan to much with a 3 week old baby thrown into the mix.

Wanted: someone to tabulate Comanche data

Here how about this. ;) I have a few more things very similar with additional info I will post later if you guys want them. -
Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a suspension freak. I spent years racing BMW's and my daily drivers are highly modified BMW's. So suspension tuning and handling is something that I am very anal about. That being said, I HATE it when I make the switch from by BMW to the Jeeps. It's a total different driving experience (and expected) but I am always looking for ways to improve the handling on the Jeeps; especially since the smallest Jeep we own is at 3.5" and 33" tires. I've tired various products in the past and with most have gotten good results. With the Jeep's it's a fine line between good road handling and still being able to perform well off road on the trails. Some products will improve the on road characteristics but hinder the off road performance greatly. So some things I'd like to add to the Jeeps I simply haven't due to the fact we wheel our Jeeps quite often. One thing I've really been wanting to add is an upgraded performance swaybar. I know from experience with the BMW's how much of an improvement a set of swaybars helps and wanted to see if they would do the same on the Jeeps. I had done my research on them and found that the only company that makes an upgraded swaybar for the Jeep XJ/MJ was Addco. I had planned on purchasing one but than was contacted by a friend out of Canada that had another option for me. I ended up picking up a Quickor Performance front swaybar kit. A bit of the history behind Quickor. Quickor Eng. was founded by Glenn Risburger back in the early 80's in Canada. They started off making performance swaybar kits for track cars. Glen than sold Quickor to Warn Ind. and went to work for their truck division in 1986. Glenn and Quickor parted company in mid 1990. Warn kept the ground effects and swaybar portion of the company and the bushing side was sold to Marcore of Canada. Warn than basically ran Quickor into the dump and Quickor filled bankruptcy in the late 1990's and the company today no longer exist. Why the history lesson? Well Quickor worked with the factory Mopar Jeep team in the mid 80's and early 90's on the MJ racing teams. The Quickor bar for the Jeep XJ/MJ's was designed directly for the MJ race team, tested by them and than put on the market for the general consumer. So enough with the history lesson (if you even carried anyways), and onto the install. We decided to put the swaybar on Rebecca's XJ as it seems to be the "family car" and we drive it the most. Her XJ is running a RE 3.5" lift with 33" Maxxis Bighorns and a lot more other goodies. The handling is not bad with the low center of gravity and the addition of a tracbar brace. However I wanted to stiffen up the front even a bit more. Here is a before shot of the factory front swaybar. We are running RE Gen.2 quick disco's with it as well. Here is a shot of the Quickor Performance front swaybar kit. It comes with the bar, poly bushings/mounts, and swaybar end links. Here are a few shots of the Quickor bar compared to the factory OEM bar. Notice the size difference. The Quickor bar is also solid stock and weighs a ton more than the factory OEM bar does. Next was to install the poly bushings and mounts for the bar. I was happy with the way the bushing fit snuggly around the bar and the mount is also very beefy. And a shot of the bar installed. We also fitted the RE Gen.2 swaybar disco's on. They fit nicely with the bar. Final thoughts? WHY HADN'T I DONE THIS SOONER!?! It's amazing with the difference of the new bar. Steering feels very responsive now and the front does not roll like it used to in the corner. Nice thing is the bar will not hinder any off road performance as we disconnect it anyways. It was well worth the money I have in the bar. Install was simple and only took an hour and that was with taking pictures. I'd recommend an upgraded performance swaybar to anyways looking for less body roll with lifted rigs or for you street guys who like to take corner at higher speeds.

Buick Steering Wheel
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
In the past when I did something similar I used a syringe and needle. Sucked up the paint with the needle and than filled the recessed area with paint. If you put the part on a flat surface you can control how "deep" you want the paint to be; thus how much you want it colored. Just an idea... -
I'm not a huge fan of roll bars. But like I've always told you Wade, if you like it thats all that matters.
-
XJ's don't have the stud for the shocks as the shock mounts are directly on the axle. The MJ's have the studs as the shocks mount to the spring plates. So to answer your question, no they are different.

new steering from rocky road outfiters/ ITS IN!!!
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW replied to 86FUBAR's topic in The Pub
That kit to me looks questionable. I REALLY don't like the fact that the tie rod is several pieces welded together. Looks like it's just asking to be bent. Why add a piece for the stabilizer and not just run a bracket that goes around the bar? I also don't like the fact that the draglink is under the tierod. It looks to me like it will bind at articulation travel. For the same money you can get a Teraflex High Steer kit or for a few bucks more the Offroad Only U-Turn kit. Non the less, let us know what you think when you get it. -
Hood Vents - Opinions?
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've been happy with my LaBarron vents. I run them on all our rigs with great results. You can see heat just pouring out of them on a hot day on the trail.
