  1. So, I saw on this page https://bit.ly/2HoiEQI that a 1987 to 2004 Dodge Dakota bumper will fit on a Comanche. Does anyone have any experience with this? There are lots of these at the pick n pull.
  2. My first car was a 52 Belair. That could be it.
  3. I have to go change my shirt, this one has drool on it.

    mj-curious?

Not what I thought it meant.
  5. If it was a shortbed, that bedliner would be nice.
  6. Check out this one: http://comancheclub.com/topic/52819-phoenix-project/
  7. You fulfilled this as soon at you bought the 87.
  8. Duct tape? That makes me not want to live on this planet anymore That and a few hundred dozen other things. I used to work in the planning department of a company that made wiring harnesses back in the 80's. I'm going to board the wiring up and go through it. As soon as I finish this kitchen remodel. The truck had a lot of electrical issues before this.
  9. Nice, maybe a Dakota or something?
  10. I think I need to go down the same road and do a major rewiring in my truck. I was out wheeling this weekend and shelled out a motor mount. The motor shifted and pinched the wires on the alternator. I started to dig into it and found it had been rewired before. They had used duct tape on the splices. Wiring was fried from the alternator to the cab. How did this go for you?

  12. I'm dealing with the same thing now. Thanks for following up on this. I am going to drop the tank and I just ordered a new lock-ring/o-ring kit. I am tired of messing with this. I tried to use some fuel resistant sealer to fix it. It was better but no cigar. This is an improvement.
  13. My best road trip ever was flying down to Phoenix, picking up my 89 Comanche and driving it back with my wife and daughter in the cab. It was an adventure. I did have a mechanic check it out before I bought it. The picture in my signature is as we were leaving Death Valley. We put over 1300 miles on it.
  14. If there is unibody damage it would be hard to pull one at a junk yard unless they let you take a torch in. If they let you, just cut past what you need and take it home to work on it. I hit a deer with a car and had to go that route and weld it in.
  15. If you took a frog hair and split it eight ways, I'd still be finer.
  16. How is this linkage working for you? I'm getting to the point I need to do something.
  17. Wow, that is one nice truck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. The stock measurement is 27 1/8" the measurement on the 89 is 30 3/4" that's a difference of 3 5/8". Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Somewhere with a previous owner my MJ was converted from a 2.5, 2 wheel drive to 4.0, 4 wheel drive. I am searching for a front driveshaft for it. Is there anyway for me to tell the year of my driveline? From what I have seen it uses the 1310 series u joints but some of the front driveshafts I've seen with 1310 don't match on the interchange.

    Ethical Conundrum

I like it. It's got a good beat and the kids can dance to it. :rock on:
  21. Hi, I live north of Reno NV, probably the edge of the NW. I bought my 89 a month ago and it is definitely a project. The info on my truck is in my signature.

    Ethical Conundrum

Sad to say it's not, it was brought to Northern Nevada from Iowa a few years ago and has a fair amount of rust. It's already missing parts, just not the ones I need. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. I have the speedo cable from the 86 but it has a np207 and the 89 is an np231j. I was going to fish it out of the 86 to see if it will work. I'm going to check your build out, I think my tcase linkage is hosed.
  24. I had a thread in the Pub on this here is the link http://comancheclub.com/topic/52974-ethical-conundrum/ All that being said it's been well worth it to have these trucks nose to nose at my place. I will take a few parts off of it but it's mostly moral support. Even though 86 is a stand alone year there are a lot of similarities that have been a great help. A few of those are: How does the speedo cable run? How does the emergency cable thread through? how does the transfer case linkage hook up?. This weekend I will get more pictures up of both trucks
  25. Thanks for this info. If you are an individual who doesn't mind a worthwhile challenge stick around. These truck take a fair amount of wit and grit. Getting things right on these trucks is a lot like archeology, I'm getting better at chasing down electrical problems. Some where is the past of my truck the owner didn't seem to mind thinks not working, or being bolted down, or being removed. It seems I spend as much time trying to figure out whats missing and how it worked than actually wrenching on the truck. I do admit the cool factor is significant.
