  1. Personally I would just trash can it and all associated parts. If you feel you really got to have one, I got one from a '65 2.5 you can have. Pay shipping and it's yours.
  2. Anybody swapping a Chevy 2.8 into their MJ, be advised that the flywheel cover plates are different. You have to stay with the Jeep plates. The bolt holes line up, top and bottem, but the Chevy is shorter.
  3. ahh,,gee. That's a tough one. Let me Google it and I'll get back to ya.
  4. Gee Cory. I'm just not going to give it to ya. You gotta prove it's yours. What color was yours? . :MJ 1: .
  5. It runs! Did all the usual things for a long time sitting machine. Drained the gas. Put in 5 gallons fresh. Pulled the fuel line at the rail, turned the key and waited until fresh fuel came out. Pulled the plugs. A couple squirts of 5-30 in each cylinder. Spun it over with the starter until I got a reading on the oil pressure gauge. 20PSI. was going to change it but it looked clean on the dip stick. Coolant was OK. Replaced the plugs. A shot of ether and hit the key. It fired right off. Backed it off the trailer and drove it around the yard and parked it by the garage. Ran great. Pays to be nice to people. A lady has been restoring a 1984 Waggoner and been buying parts from me for the last year. I've been giving her a good price on them and lot's of advice. A couple times she needed help and I went over to her house and did what I could. Her and the lady who owned the MJ were friends and when she mentioned she wanted to sell it the lady I been helping gave her my name and number. Drove 20 miles, took one look at it and gave her $400 and loaded it up. That makes 12 now.
  6. Ho Hum, So what's new? 1987 metric ton, 4.0, 5 speed, 4WD, 78,248 on the clock. Ladies husband died in '98. Been sitting in the garage ever since. She selling the house and wanted it gone.
  7. In the old days we didn't have, or used decals. We used paint. If you were good you could freehand it. Other wise use masking tape.
  8. I always use liquid dish washing detergent. Works great.
  9. I've been thinking about doing a similar swap for the improved brakes. I have a '94 and a '97 WJ. Is either one of these the same as the '95-'96?
  10. I'd just take a wild guess and say he's done it before.
  11. All the doors on 1984 thru 1995 are directly interchangeable. 2 Door XJ and MJ. There are others but those are the only years I'm personally familiar with. On the early years the mechanism is held in with bolts and screws. The later years are riveted. APITB. I've removed the rivets by grinding the heads off and by using a hammer and chisel. Can't really recommend one over the other.
  12. I'll let you know as soon as I find out. Black walnuts was the first thing came to mind when Ronnie said nut cracker. When I was a kid in Joplin, Mo we used grand dad's anvil and black smith hammer to crack them things.
  13. I've swapped a couple 2.8'S and I don't know how to tell the difference. Mostly I swapped 2.8 from a later year S10 and kept the fly wheel, flex plate with the engine. Never had any problems.
  14. $2 shipped? Let me rephrase that. How much?
  15. Gives a whole new meaning to the term 'ball buster'.
  16. It'll stay put. And in case you're wondering, that stud plate fits both upper and lower holes. I tried it.
  17. You left out 'thing a ma jig'.
  18. or what it's for? Was cleaning out an old shed that was falling down and found it. Thought it might have something to do molding bullets but it really not right for that.
  19. Don't mutilate a good MJ. Beat a groove into the back of the booster instead. :rotfl2:
  20. I've had good luck just taking the old apart and cleaning the contacts.
  21. Don, Your inquiry did some good. When I looked under my '87 I found this. I was totally unaware I had a problem. Guess what I'll be doing the rest of the afternoon. OK. I'm with the program. Depending on how long or how wide the plate is will determine if the studs face in or out, it looks like. The re-enforcement ridge in the middle , outside the frame, requires a narrow plate. The 2 end angles on the inside of the frame requires a short piece. When I replaced the TB mount I made a stud plate like your're showing just to installation easier.
  22. 1986 MJ. There's just one. give ya 3 guesses as to what was the only thing holding this on. Track bar mount .
  23. Anybody here familiar with the battle of Athens, Tennessee? August, 1946. If not, then Google it, Wikipedia it. Hell. Go to the library and get a book. Best argument for the 2nd amendment I ever saw.
  24. :agree: 10-4
  25. Ah! Red mesh thigh highs. Why didn't you say so?
