  1. Eagle. If you haven't found anything out in a couple days let me know. I have a '97WJ and a couple MJ's and not doing much and I would be interested in knowing that myself. Jim PS. Great on the daughter. If for some reason the WJ won't work I also have a '98XJ. I would rather part the WJ tho than the XJ.
  2. Chief, I don't see any in tank wiring on that. I just see the fuel sender wires. It is a couple wires short to work on a FI engine. Beat me. I gotta learn to type faster
  3. And the tank it's going into: SENDING UNIT, Fuel *** 5200 3671 1 w/16 Gal. Tank - Carbureted Eng. - 7 Ft. Box - 1988 5200 3644 1 w/18 Gal. Tank - Carbureted Eng. - 7 Ft. Box 5200 3652 1 w/23.5 Gal. Tank - Carbureted Eng. - 7 Ft. Box 5200 3644 1 w/23.5 Gal. Tank - Diesel Eng. - 7 Ft. Box Didn't even think about the gas tank. Just the temp an oil. To answer your question, it will not work with FI. Just carb. However you could use an external, inline fuel pump and it would work.

    Who's in!?

No. A small hill won't give you a chance to build up the speed you need. Start out with a hang glider. That will teach you the basics. Then when your good at that get the wingsuit.
  5. Just because a motors a 4 cylinder doesn't mean it's a dud. The old Offenhausers did a pretty impressive job making horsepower and speed on the bricks. Indy 500.
  6. As long as it matches the gauge.
  7. I always use the hotwater trick but without the thermometer. Water boils at 220*f. at sea level. Most thermostats are 190-195. Place the thermostat in a pan of water, insuring it's completely covered. Place pan over open flame, or electric plate. Thermostat should open before water starts boiling. Not as accurate as a thermometer but will tell you if the 'stat is working or sticking.

I prefer to think of it as enjoying life and having fun. :waving:
  9. It's the internet version of US Postal Service junk mail. Unsolicited advertisements.

Finished picking the remains clean today. Gas tank with fuel pump and sending unit, Windshield, thanks for the tip Pat, foot brake @$$'y complete with mounting bracket,s, and all cables to the brake drums, sliding window, mirrors, complete front clip etc, etc, I got everything that could be carried out on a wheelbarrow, my tool box and my pockets. As I looked at that poor truck I really got kind of ticked. This was a clean little truck and couldn't have had anything wrong that couldn't have been fixed, making junking it unnecessary. I think one of the reasons it and others like it get junked is because people don't know we exist, CC members and addicts to the MJ. I propose we take action to prevent further depredations such as this in the future. I started by giving the guy behind the counter a CC card with my name and number and the promise of $20 everytime he called me when a MJ came in. I propose we form a vigilante committee dedicated to making idiots rue the day they junk a MJ. We neuter them, boil them in hot transmission grease and hang them, I can see the headlines now. "POLICE FIND REMAINS OF MISSING EX JEEP MJ OWNER HANGING FROM A BRIDGE TRESTLE" The victum's wife claims they were rudely awakened by a crowd of rowdy ruffians wearing greasy coveralls and chanting "JEEP JEEP JEEP" as they drug his sorry @$$ out of the house and into the darkness. Just a thought. Jim
  11. Leave it where it's at. It'll work just fine.
  12. Even if you don't feel any ridges it should be miked for out of round and taper.
  13. You would have the AX4 now. The AX5 would be a bolt in. And they are decent trannys.
  14. The only purpose of a heated intake manifold is to prevent icing in cold and / or high humidity conditions.
  15. Rubber bolts?

    Who's in!?

Big deal. Notice they were wearing wingsuits. I used to do it nude until I had a 'close encounter' with a prickly pear on a cllff side. Now i wear a supporter and trunks. :rotf:

    uh wut?

Surprised he didn't use plastic soda bottles instead of metal cans.
  19. Any rebuilt engine is going to burn some oil. The amount will vary depending on various circumstances. Biggest culprit will be the rings, takes time for them to wear into the cylinder walls. Second biggest oil leak will be the valve stems, Third will be gasket leaks. It all depends on how tight the clearances were and the materials used. I have rebuilt engines that used less than a half a quart of oil breaking in. I once rebuilt a Ford 300 used 3 qts in the first 200 miles, very unusual. However never burned a drop after that and I put over 20,000 on it before I sold it. In an absolute worse case scenario it can take up to 1500 miles before every things seated. But that would be rare. As for the time period it's meaningless without knowing the mileage. Do you put 20 miles a week on it? Do you drive 1,000 miles a week?
  20. Thought. How do you use a heat gun in a JY? No electricity. I'll just work a hole in it and make do with the piano wire.
  21. Tried an open flame once and never tried it again because of the smoke. Never even thought of a heat gun. Besides getting grumpy an forgetful in my old age, also getting senile. Thanks Pat, I'll try it. Jim
  22. Anybody know of an easier way to remove a windshield, to re-install, than the ol' carefully working a knife, saw blade around the edge until it's loose? I find it hard to believe that in this day and age of modern miracles, and solvents, that there isn't a easier way. :help:

Didn't notice one but wasn't really looking. Was too happy getting 2 interior dome lights. If there is one I'll grab it. Anybody else need anything let me know. This truck was 99% complete. The only things missing was the radio and the plastic trim under the rear window. It also has 16 inch wheels. Thought they only put 15's on MJ'S.
  25. Can you get him to bend over and drop his drawers?
