Dern Kids. << This from a guy that went thru more cars before he was 18 than most people go thru in their entire life. Congrats.

Old men ain't supposed to keep up. They're supposed to be sitting on their butts having some youngster bringing them a cold beer. :D

First thing to check would be fluid level.

That's sad and ridiculous. It's not just a Vancouver thing, unfortune .It's world wide. A bunch of punks, vandals and thieves, not sport fans, using it as an excuse to destroy amd steal. :Canadaflag: :shake: :USAflag:

You can put anything into anything. Some other questions would be why? What is the purpose? Is it practical? Drag strip, race car or street only? I have installed a 6 cylinder 300hp Franklin airplane in a '41Chevy, no mufflers, a 350 Buick in a '58 VW and a 500 Cadillac in a '65 Corvair, among some others. Hmmm, There's a Santa Fe surplus diesel locomotive at the salvage yard and I've got this Crosley in the yard. Getting out tape measure. :wrench:  :rotfl2:

If your using an electronic ign there is a tach terminal on the coil. On a non electronic, hook it to the pos terminal on the coil.

I buy most of my parts at Auto Zone. Mostly because the manager bends over backwards to help. Try a local machine shop that builds engines. Generally they only use the best. Might pay to ask around tho. See if they're any good or not. Seen some good buys on EBay.

What year? Is the voltmeter also affected? Take a voltmeter and check for voltage at the fuse. Both sides. Remove the lighter. Check the ground connection. These questions apply to Renix.('89) HO may be similiar.

Good score. I'll give ya $20 for it and you won't even have to deliver. I'll pick up. :D

They used both, Torx and Allen, plus any PO could have swapped. Look at it and identify what you've got.

You guys think this is a good deal???

There are more used tires for sale than buyers. Unless you're going to personally use them I would suggest not buying. Maybe if the guy knows your not buying he may come down some more on his asking price. -
Got the manifolds done. All the sensors were different so I was going to swap them. Got to looking at it and decided all that extra room I would have by removing the manifolds would make it worth the extra work so swapped both manifolds. I've done engine, tranny swaps before but don't remember having this much fun,,er,,trouble with them. Maybe if I had of I wouldn't of started this one. Life is just a bowl of cherries. Just watch out for the wormy ones. HeHe... :wrench:

You're actually getting paid for doing that?

Got all the sensors, senders an stuff swapped over. Biggest difference was oil pressure sending unit. Besides the connector, pins being different the 98 block has a hole drilled and threaded into the rear of the block. The '96 doesn't. Just a cast hump where it would have gone. Actually thought about drilling and tapping a hole but thought better. Just moved the sending unit to the oil filter mount where the '98 went. Swapped dizzy and ign coil so pin connectors would fit. I believe I could have just cut the wire and swapped the connectors but don't like doing that. Intake, exh manifolds appear identical so just going to leave them.Didn't check the pins on the stuff on the int man. May have to change them. Seems to be working out OK.

First thing I would check is the temp sending unit and the temp gauge for accuracy. Kind of rare for a engine to shoot to 220 in a few seconds. Also 220 is mot excessively hot. That's where these engines normally run, after they've warmed up. As for the fan set up, hit the junkyard and find the original and put it in. Just a suggestion.

allpar.com Land Speed Record Comanche featured on main page

That's a ESC. Not a CLS. It turns the electrons on an off. When the electrons are flowing front to rear, the truck goes faster. When the electrons are flowing rear to front, the truck goes slower. ESC= Electron Speed Controller CLS=Cargo Light Switch :huh???: :agree: -
Yes.. and I remember in the old days when I called this sh*# fun and layed under cars and trucks night and day having fun !! :shake: That too.

Sorry for your loss. The loss of any friend or family member is sad but the loss of your mother has to be the worst. Jim

That's why I work on XJ'S, So I can have money to buy MJ'S

Mount it in the bed. All kinds of room and no cooling problems, plus easy access.

Just finished supper and a cold Corona. Amazing how simple things in life can make one feel better. I'm going to stick with the original plan. Just sit the two side by side and swap everything over. Then stick it in. Thanks for the comments guys. Jim

Not so far back, I could pull a vehicle into the shop, remove the radiator and then the engine. I could then get the rebuilt, ready to go engine I had, stick it in the vehicle, replace the radiator and drive out. All in one day. I've just spent the last day, ALL DAY, just removing plastic so I could just get to the engine. This is progress? Gonna go have a cold one, Jim :headpop:

I just stepped in some doodoo. Can somebody help me get out? I just bought '98ZJ, ran low on oil and fried the bearings. Pulled the engine and was going to swap in a '96ZJ but lo and behold. They're different. Discovered that when I was pulling connectors apart, and oil filter mounting. Then something in the back of my mind goes ding, they changed in '97. OK. I got a '98XJ Sport. Everything in front is different, fan blades off to one side, etc, etc, Can the '98XJ be used by swapping the parts needed to match the '98ZJ? All engines are 4.0. I'm gettin' to old for this chit. Unless you've 'been there, done it' it's really hard to trouble shoot electrical problems by email. You really need a wiring diagram of the set up and a multi meter, altho just a test light will work. Don't use a helter skelter approach. Be systematic. Start someplace. The climate control panel, or the blower motor. Study the diagram and see what a component needs in order to work. Then see if it's getting it. Example; take the fan control switch. Turn it off. Ign sw off. There shouldn't be any voltage to the sw. Now turn the ign sw on. There should be 12 Volts to the fan sw but no voltage out. Now turn the sw to the first position. There should be voltage out. This is why you need a wiring diagram to know which sw pos is which. Do this with every part in the system, electrical and vacuum. I don't have a diagram for a '99 so I can't help. They are available online and perhaps Hornbrod or automan can jump in with a link. Sure wish I had there memories. If there is anybody here that can help you they most certainly will. Just the fact that there has been 50 views and no help tells you that you're in new territory. :dunno: Good luck Jim Oh, and don;t go just changing parts to be changing. Hunt an peck I call it. Make sure the part is defective before changing it.
