oh I didn't even think about that. I doubt it will just bolt right up come to think of it. I know most things xj related match in the front of an mj but not the back. It's probobly the same for the tj. But i do have a very limited knowledge so far lol. I'm learning :D

What should I do to my eliminator?
Squeegy410 replied to Squeegy410's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I JUST GOT A GREAT IDEA! I have sitting out back two essentially junk ford broncos. My whole family drives fords except for me haha (i have my mj and a '72 dodge dart). If I could ever convince my dad into it I may be able to pull the front and rear axles from a bronco (i think thats what pete m did, thanks for the idea  ) and then i would just need a tranny/transfer case and probobly a lift kit (maybe not). Any input? -
to answer the intial question I would think the D35 would bolt right up. I think (correct me if i'm wrong, i'm new to this too) all MJ's came with either a D35 or D44.

I have a '64 ford pickup in terible condition. sence i have to refabricate the firewall i have been toying with the idea of putting the engine out of a new holland skid loader (bobcat) in it. Those engines are designed to run wide open all day and require little maintainance while still not using loads of gas (because those loaders don't have alot of room for a gas tank). The engine is also fairly small and the only issue would be getting a transmission hooked to it. The engine itself works off of a simple forward backward system, an I would definately need higher gears than that. That's just one take on it, i'll probobly end up putting a 351 cleveland in my '64 and just make it snatch the road up. I HAVE to put that cleveland in something and my maverick is a '75 which means it has to go through emissions (I hate emissions). I may toy with the idea of the loader engine in my MJ one day :D I doubt that was very helpfull but maybe it was interesting

Yeah ide mock up rear fender flaire with he front end of it 45 degreed instead of just sitting there. if it looks good its a simple cut.

Wow your' the first person I've heard from thats even from TN lol. Nice to have someone who knows about this place :D Actually, I'm from Madisonville, KY. About an 1 hr 45 min from you. Used to come to Gallatin twice a year to race at Lock 4. Great place to ride and I like the area. My son is going there right now, hope it pans out, I couldn't sway him toward something else. What do you do, if you don't mind me asking? which department is your son in? my neighbor heads up the heavy machinery section took me and my dad on a tour. It's nice up there.

How do you change the door pins?
Squeegy410 replied to trapperbb's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Both my doors open and shut fine, but both of them also have a nail holding them to the cab in one place :ack: I may fix that someday... I doubt it though :D -

gotchya, instead of swapping the two wires hook up point your just making the two wires become each other. I thought you were going to cancel out your curcuit, you just reversed the circuit. Good thinking

I Have the exact same problem with a '75 ford maverick i have. It has a 250 straight six in it and it fouled out cylinder six. I replaced wires and plugs as a prelimenary, that didn't help so we checked the compression on it and the cylinders were all fine exept six. it gets fire, it just doesn't do anything. The 250 is a cursed engine with a intake manifold built into the engine (sort of) and has a very elementary fuel injection system. I still don't know what the problem with the motor is, but if that helps you any I'm glad. I'm really interested to see what's wrong with your's because I bought a jeep to replace the maverick and its still in my back yard awaiting an engine swap  I hate this problem :fs1: I wish you the best of luck, for your' and my sake

CJ means civilian jeep. What do all the others mean? I've been wondering for a long time.

Is my frankenmotor dying?
Squeegy410 replied to the_wizard_of_fire's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
ug, i so do not want it to be the timing chain.... :wall: atleast if it is you know what it is. :D -
would that reverse the polarity or just short it out? seems like it would bypass the gauge alltogether and curcuit straight back, no signal ever hits the gauge. Am I misunderstanding what your saying?
-
WOW! This is an amazing resource to have :D My haynes hardly has any of this  Thank you. Do you have any more like this?

are those coil springs higher than stock? or do they just look like that because theres no weight on them?

alright I'll look it up :D thanks. I'll try to post a pic of the tranny if it ever warms up here. I don't feel like crawling around in the cold. -
Pneumo = Air Pneumatic = Air actuated Rob L. Edit: Darn you squeegy. Nah yours was more educational. I beat you off the start but you finished

the image is on now. Did you fix it or did my computer just not work right?

pneumatic = air powered :cheers:

If anything is reading backwards just reverse he wiring. The polarity determines where the gauge gos. Just like when you push a window up button it gos up, and when you push it down it gos down. It's not a super complex system or anything, it's just reversing the polarity. Thus you can (and may need to one day) find the wiring to an automatic glass and hook the positive to the positive and negative to the negative to roll the glass up, and swap the two wires on two different posts to roll the glass down. Same deal with your gas gauge. You can hook it up one way to make the needle go one way, and hook it up another way to make the needle go the other way. I hope this helped. Good luck, and sorry to lecture you haha :smart:
